Full Release

After many long hard working years, Gemini is now feature complete, with the release of the ‘Incursion’ game mode. Returning to our co-op roots, we wanted to make sure we created the kind of mode players actually wanted, as well as forming as a basis for future projects.

Incursion is an objective based co-op experience, in it’s new map ‘inc_tundra’ you and your squad play as a small covert group of Trivexians tasked with sneaking into a fortified Avian base under the cover of darkness. Your team perform various acts of espionage and destruction, ultimately destroying the shield bubble that lead to the events of the original tundra holdout mission; this map officially being a ‘prequel’ to that. The mode has some depth, featuring stealth mechanics, sabotage, large open spaces, patrols, and more, making it an incredibly engaging and exciting mission, with every action you take leaving lasting effects on the later stages of the operation.

At the start of Incursion, your first objective is to sabotage one of two fortified locations. These are the Droid Factory, and the Armoury, both providing essential supplies to the Avian side.

Sabotaging the Droid Factory, reduces Droid spawns from there-in, making Super Droids, Poppers, etc... much less of a present threat, while the Armoury, once sabotaged, reduces the amount of armoured specialist units, meaning that the Avian soldiers on patrols or reinforcement waves will be much less equipped to deal with you.

That doesn't mean sabotage will be straightforward however. In your efforts to shut down and destroy their capabilities in this large open space, you will encounter guards patrolling major locations. These patrols wander the map and vehemently guard points of interest, and your approach to these patrols is essential.

You can stealth around them, taking units out either from behind or from a distance before anyone can raise the alarm, sneak past them to sabotage equipment right from under their nose, or go in full guns blazing, throwing caution to the wind and wiping out assault waves in a blaze of glory. Your approach is entirely up to you, but it directly influences how many enemies you have to deal with, which path you take, and more.

Then, after sabotaging the shield bubble with a piece of equipment you obtain from a drop ship in one of multiple cave locations, and subsequently securing the main temple, you must fight an intense boss battle. A hyper lethal version of the Holdout gunship boss, having more health and abilities than the original Holdout gunship. You're team will face a difficult challenge as reinforcements trickle in to support the boss as you attempt to thwart it.

Finally, once all is said and done, your team has to rendezvous to the evac point, dealing with a final patrol which triggers an endless wave of units constantly assaulting you and your team.

Incursion is a love-letter to not only our original works, but was also a mode we wanted to create for Gemini for quite some time. It’s become a wonderful base for future projects moving forward and we're extremely proud of it. We very much look forward to you all enjoying playing it!

Speaking of "returning to our roots", we have some big plans moving forward, which will be discussed soon. Stay tuned for more updates on that.

Gemini 1.0.1.1

- Gemini f2p build with supporter DLC implementation

Gemini - Free 2 Play announcement

After much consideration we have decided to move Gemini: Binary Conflict to a free to play model. After many years of development effort; learning and exploiting some of the cool features and idiosyncrasies of Unreal Engine, we believe we've created something engaging, colourful, and most importantly fun to play, with unique environments and mechanics.

Unfortunately we haven't had much success with the 'premium' model and seem to be stuck in a vicious cycle of players not being attracted to the game due to lack of other players (although silver lining: we have received a lot of praise for our bots/AI from our small but dedicated community).

Although it would have been nice to see some up-front reward for our efforts, by going F2P we hope to bring some value for those who have supported us so far by expanding the player base, as well as getting Gemini into the hands of as many gamers as possible (especially those on a tight budget).

We of course want to thank and acknowledge all those who have backed us so far by offering an in-game 'supporter' tag as well as access to unlock and use five cosmetic armour sets (unlocked at level 16 for each player class). We will also add this as a 'Supporter DLC' for new players who like the game and also want to support us moving forward.

We'll see everyone in-game in the next week or so (new and existing players alike),
Happy fragging!

Gemini - Spelunk Update

We are excited to announce the release of three new Gemini maps!

If you are interested in some real combat verticality, do come and check out what spelunk has to offer, not only with its (quite literally) wonderfully ‘immersed’ visuals, but wild gameplay to match. There's something for everyone to love in this avian underwater jaunt!
