Players will no longer receive a popup message saying that a troop will be consumed when crafting Enraged Kurandara. This is a visual change only, as the server change was made previously to no longer consume the troop when crafting this recipe. We have added new Faction Delve Portraits for some of the released Factions for players to unlock. The new Portraits will appear in the next 24hrs. Halloween Icon + Images have been removed, until Halloween next year.
We have also fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
NEW HALLOWEEN TROOP
To celebrate Halloween this year, we have released a new troop, The Ghost Queen. You can unlock her from a special Halloween Adventure Board Task available only for the next 24hrs. She can also be found in Glory, Gem & VIP Chests from today.
5.2 Update
Arena was the first mini game we added to Gems of War back in 2015. We have mentioned several times in the past that we would like to go back and revisit the Arena to give it some love and attention. Now we have kept that promise.
We have removed the old Difficulty from Arena.
Difficulty will now be consistent throughout the run.
This means that difficulty no longer affects Arena Rewards when finishing an Arena.
We have replaced Heroes with Epic Troops.
Hero improvements in the past and newer powerful weapons have meant that Arena has become less about drafting a team, and more about which hero can cast their spell first. We wanted to shift the focus of Arena back to players coming up with clever combinations in their draft picks.
When drafting Troops, players will now be able to see their Arena team, so they can view the troops they have currently chosen. This allows them to plan out their other draft picks to optimize their team.
We have made improvements to the Arena Troop Pool, so newer troops will automatically appear as Arena options 3-4 weeks or so after they are released (previously, we would just add new batches of troops every 3-6 months).
We have reduced the max number of Victories from 8 to 6.
This reduces the amount of battles required to play. Generally, without the hero, we found these battles take a little longer, so requiring 6 battles to complete felt consistent with the old 8.
Number of Defeats remains unchanged
With the changes to Victories, we have rebalanced Arena Rewards and made some improvements to the amount of Trophies given:
We have made 2 changes to the Arena Offer. The first is that it will now trigger at 5 Wins instead of 6, and will only happen 3 times per day.
The second change is that the Arena Offer will give a random Daily Deal.
Players who earn 6 Wins in an Arena run will get a 10% discount to their Arena Offer.
Offers do not include VIP exclusive offers.
We have added a new perk for players who are VIP 4 or higher, that they will start Arena runs with 1 Victory.
Campaign Tasks around Arena have been changed to reflect the Victory changes.
We have added a new event focused around the Arena.
During the event players will earn Valor based on the number of Wins from the Arena run.
0 Wins: 0 Valor
1 Win: 0 Valor
2 Wins: 5 Valor
3 Wins: 10 Valor
4 Wins: 18 Valor
5 Wins: 30 Valor
6 Wins: 50 Valor
The Mini Games Menu will have an Arena tracker (similar to Vault Event) which will track the amount of Valor a player has earned towards the current reward Stage.
The Arena Tracker has 5 different rewards that it will progress through before starting back at the first reward type again. Rewards that have been earned will be sent out via the In-Game Mail:
Reward 1: 3 Gem Keys
Reward 2: 1000 Jewel Shards
Reward 3: 2 Event Keys
Reward 4: 60 Writs
Reward 5: 1 Orb of Chaos
Arena of Valor also will support a pre-set Troop that will replace one of the regular troop draft picks.
The Troop will be given each time a player starts an Arena run during the Event.
The Troop is not limited by the normal rarities available in Arena (e.g. Common, Rare, Ultra-Rare, Epic).
These pre-set Troops may not happen in every Arena Event.
Any Arena runs started before the event begins will not give any Valor, and any Arena runs in progress at the end of the event can be completed like a normal Arena run once the event ends.
Valor doesn’t carry over to the next event, and any reward progress is lost once the event ends.
We have added a special new Flash Offer for special Event Pets.
Special Event Pets are the cosmetic Pets for special Events such as Halloween, Gems of War Anniversary, Campaign Pets, etc.
Faction Pets or Pets that can be gained from Pet Gnomes will not be offered.
Platform Exclusive Pets like Steam Puppy or X-Ball will not be offered.
New Special Event Pets will not be offered until 3 months after their first release.
The offer will cost $1.99 USD and can be purchased up to 2 times
The offer will contain the following:
2x Pet
50 Gems
6 Colored Pet Food
Pets are chosen randomly but Players will not be offered a Pet if they have enough pets to ascend or are already at the maximum ascension.
Like the Weapon Flash Offer, this flash offer will appear randomly during the week, as long as there isn’t another Flash Offer running.
We will continue to run special 1-Day Pet Rescue events over various weekends throughout the year. This will give players several means to complete their Pet Collection and level them up.
We have made some changes when viewing Troop cards in Battles so that it does not affect game speed if the battle is running in the background.
We have made some visual improvements for Advent Calendars and Flash Offers
Advent Calendars will all have the new improvements, but only a few existing Flash Offers will use the new visuals with the 5.2 Update.
We will be updating other existing Flash Offers in future updates.
We have added support for more reward help popups in Advent Calendars and Flash Offers and Advent Calendars.
These rewards can now be tapped/ clicked or have controller shortcuts to get more information about that reward.
We have added a new Halloween themed Logo for the season.
We have fixed an issue where Class Masteries were not applying in Battles correctly.
We have fixed an issue where Battle Icons on the World Event Fight Map would jitter when they were too close together.
We have fixed an issue where Valravens could overwrite Battle Bosses in World Events.
We have fixed an issue where players not in a guild would get an error if they tried to open a World Event news item.
We have also fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
Campaign Begins: Ancient Sarcophagus
A brand new Campaign begins today, adventure into Grosh-Nak, where an Orc War Leader has been murdered.
Artifact: Ancient Sarcophagus
During this Campaign, players can earn Stars to level this Campaign’s Artifact – the Ancient Sarcophagus. Each new level will expand the story of the Campaign and also give Skill Point bonuses to all battles (including PvP and Guild Wars).
(These bonuses will only apply during the Campaign and are lost when the Campaign ends).
Elite Pass Rewards Sneak Peek
We have a sneak peek at a few of the rewards that will be available from the Elite Pass reward track. Players also have the chance to collect 3 weapons that can be forged into a new mythic weapon, Duskbringer.
When the campaign ends, players can still earn unique rewards in the following ways:
Pharaoh Nefertani – She will start appearing in chests 3-4 weeks after the Campaign ends Weapons – These weapons will be craftable from the Soulforge the next time during their Kingdom’s event.
Portraits, Emojis and Titles – Like Social Collectibles from Events, these will become available to purchase from Gems about 3 months after the Campaign ends.
Mimicophagus – As this pet is cosmetic, he will only be available during special Pet Rescues after the Campaign.
NEW FACTION – ELDRAZHOR
Join Tyri, as you explore the kingdom of Eldrazhor!
We have a new Faction to delve, as well as lots of new troops, ruled by Matron Velenne!
To celebrate the release of this new Faction, we will be running a Faction event over the weekend for Eldrazhor.
A NEW MYTHIC APPROACHES – ISHTARA
Ishtara will be the only Mythic Troop available in Glory, Gem, Guild & VIP Chests for the next 7 days.
5.1 Update
Kingdoms will now be able to be leveled to 20. In addition to the normal Gold and Imperial Deeds, Kingdom Levels 16-20 will also need a new type of Deed, the Book of Deeds. (See below for more details)
The rewards for levelling up your Kingdom will include (not necessarily in this order):
Bonus Mythstones from that Kingdom’s Explore
More Faction Hoard Stats
Kingdom Team Bonus to Tier V
Kingdom Skill Point
Books of Deeds have 6 variations, 1 for each color:
Book of Ice Deeds
Book of Nature Deeds
Book of Fire Deeds
Book of Air Deeds
Book of Magic Deeds
Book of Stone Deeds
Players will mainly be able to gain Books of Deeds in 2 different ways:
Campaign: Players will be able to earn Books of Deeds from the Free Rewards and Elite Pass Rewards.
Crafting: Players will be able to craft a Colored Book of Deeds with the following ingredients:
50 Deeds of Color (Color must match the color of Book of Deeds being crafted)
1,000 Souls
500 Jewels (Color must match the color of Book of Deeds being crafted)
We have added support for Kingdoms to earn Kingdom Power up to Power Level 30. As you know, Kingdoms may not be able to reach Power Level 30 when the update releases, but as we add more content to Kingdoms, Players will be able to progress further through their Kingdom Power levels.
We have introduced a new type of Vault, the Epic Gnome Vault.
Players will need to earn an Epic Vault Key from Treasure Gnomes to gain access to the Gnome Vault:
If a Gnome drops a Vault Key it will be either a Vault Key or Epic Vault Key, they cannot drop both.
Epic Vault Keys are rarer drops compared to the normal ones. (about 10%).
Vault Key drop rates have not been affected by this change.
This Epic Vault is similar to a Gnome Vault, however you will be fighting against King Cedric, the “Boss” version of Cedric Sparklesack.
King Cedric will drop up to x4 more loot compared to his regular counterpart in Gnome Vaults.
This only applies to the resources he may drop (Gems, Gold, Souls, etc.)
He will not drop extra copies of Troops or multiples of Orbs
We have made some changes to the Gnome Vault.
When players tap on the Gnome Vault Button in the Mini Games menu, it will bring up a pop up where players can select between playing a Gnome Vault or an Epic Gnome Vault.
We have also made changes to Gnome Difficulty:
We have removed the old Difficulty system (similar to other game modes where we have removed it in previous updates).
There are new difficulty settings that players can set before they select a Vault.
These new difficulties work similarly to the difficulty in Adventure board, where troops can gain levels beyond 20, and have their traits unlocked.
The new difficulty settings will affect the currencies earned from the battle (including Gnome Rewards). This includes Gold, Glory, Souls, Keys, etc. It does not affect any Troops, Traitstones or Orbs earned.
EASY: Troop level 15, and 80% Standard Rewards.
NORMAL: Troop level 20, and Standard Rewards (same as the old Vault).
CHALLENGING: Troop level 40, and 110% Standard Rewards.
HARD: Troop level 80, and 120% Standard Rewards.
During a Gnome Vault Event, players will find a new Gnome Tracker in the Mini Games Menu. This tracker will tick up for each treasure gnome you encounter and defeat, with the following conditions:
It counts the regular Gnomes that randomly appear in battles
It does not count Valravens, Raven Towers, Gnomes in Vaults, and Gnomes owned by Players in PvP
Once the tracker is completed (by defeating 5 Gnomes), players will be mailed out a Vault key
This will only reward a normal Vault Key (players will be unable to earn Epic Vault Keys from the Gnome Tracker)
The Gnome Tracker will then go back to 0, however the number of Gnomes required to earn the next Key will increase by 5 (to 10, then 15, then 20, etc…)
The Gnome Tracker will reset to 0 after the Vault Event, and the target will reset to 5 in the next event too.
The drop rate of Vault Keys during the event hasn’t been changed by the introduction of the Gnome Tracker.
Players will now have a chance to encounter the new Daemon Gnome.
This Gnome is much deadlier and trickier than the rest of his kin, if he manages to power up he will kill an Enemy and then run away.
This spell is a one cast only even in teams with more than 1 copy; it will only allow one cast, and the other copies’ spells will then be disabled for the duration of the battle. (Similar to the 4x Great Maw teams)
Players will be able to earn this Gnome from either type of Vault Battle.
The Daemon Gnome will drop Chaos Shards (as well as the chance of a Vault Key or Epic Vault Key like other Gnomes).
Players are now able to select Campaign Tasks and they will be taken to the appropriate section of the game that will assist them in completing that Task.
The Campaign Button now has a drop down list like the Adventure Board does, so players can quickly view their current Tasks.
We have updated the Languages Tab in the Settings Menu.
We have fixed a bug where Google Play would prompt the user every time to log in if they didn’t sign into a Google Play Games account.
We have changed the Chests Menu so they will now show the Base Rarity of the card in the example display, instead of the rarity that you own it at.
We have fixed the bug in the Troop Filter Menu where the text would always be set to All Weapon Types instead of the Weapon Type Name.
We have fixed a bug where Troops and Weapons were not showing up in the Troop List unless restarting the game. The Troops and Weapons should now show up without having to restart the game.
We have fixed a bug where accepting a Guild Invite would cause a “Cliffy” Error.
We have fixed a bug with the Ascend All Troops option where it was not properly checking for troops existing in Delve & Event teams.
We have fixed a bug where the Epic Battle Settings could be reused between Guild Live Events (e.g. setting the Epic Battle to Legendary in a World Event would keep the same setting in a different guild event like Invasions or Raid Bosses which run at the same time on a weekend).
We have fixed a bug where the Guild Popup was only showing 1 live event of each type in the list on the right, even though multiples of the same type could run (e.g. 2 World Events running in a row).
We have fixed the bug where Dead/Empty Guilds could be encountered in Guild Wars, where there are no members in the guild to fight against.
We have fixed a bug on PS4 where the Advent Calendar Offers were not showing the Gem Key image correctly.
We have fixed a bug on the Campaign Menu, Campaign Pass and Campaign Pass Upgrade menus on 4:3 aspect ratio devices.
We have fixed a bug where saving the Troop Filter was no longer working.
We have also fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
A NEW MYTHIC APPROACHES - AMAROK
Amarok will be the only Mythic Troop available in Glory, Gem, Guild & VIP Chests for the next 7 days.
Campaign Begins: Seal of Kurandara
A New Campaign Begins
A brand new Campaign begins today, join Scarlett in the Maugrim Woods, where there has been an unexplained recent increase of Daemon sightings.
Artifact: Seal of Kurandara
During this Campaign, players can earn Stars to level this Campaign’s Artifact – the Seal of Kurandara.
The battles against Vayna Soulmourn and Dullahan will only appear after the player wins 3 of the other battles.
When the campaign ends, players can still earn unique rewards in the following ways: Shade of Kurandara & Kurandara – These troops will start appearing in chests 3-4 weeks after the Campaign ends.
This is similar to event troops being released 3-4 weeks after their events.
Weapons – These weapons will be craftable from the Soulforge the next time during their Kingdom’s event.
Portraits, Emojis and Titles – Like Social Collectibles from Events, these will become available to purchase from Gems about 3 months after the Campaign ends.
Kurandarito – As this pet is cosmetic, he will only be available during special Pet Rescues after the Campaign.
Heart of Rage – This troop will not be going into chests, however players will have a chance to earn him from defeating Cedric Sparklesack in the Vault after the Campaign ends. (Wondering what this guy does? He’s part of a very special Soulforge recipe. Stay tuned for more information on that in the next few weeks.)
5.0 Update (Patch Notes)
Campaigns are seasonal content that last for 10 weeks, and will run alongside our weekly events.
Campaigns will be used to tell a story that players can follow as the Campaign progresses.
Campaigns have 3 systems (more on all of them below):
TASKS – Complete in-game activities each week and earn STARS.
CAMPAIGN PASS – The basic pass is free, and you unlock a reward for every 10 STARS you earn. Unlock extra rewards if you have purchased an Elite Pass.
ARTIFACT – Artifacts are a special magic item that players level-up to unlock temporary buffs. The buff only lasts for the duration of the campaign.
Campaign Tasks
Players will have 16 tasks to complete each week:
2 GOLD TASKS: These tasks take longer or are harder, and are worth 15 STARS.
4 SILVER TASKS: A little easier than Gold Tasks, these are worth 10 STARS.
10 BRONZE TASKS: These are short and easy to complete. They are worth 3 STARS.
This totals 100 Stars, and unlocks all rewards for the week, including a level on the Artifact.
Tasks are given 3 at a time – one for each rarity
If you don’t complete all the tasks in their week, you can still continue with them the following week.
All Task activities are based on existing gameplay, so players can work on completing them during the normal course of play.
Tasks can be skipped or completed by paying Gems (if a Players is finding one difficult to complete). They will still gain the Stars from the Tasks (so they don’t miss out). The Gem cost is dependent on the rarity of the Task.
GOLD TASKS: 150 Gems per Task
SILVER TASKS: 100 Gems per Task
BRONZE TASKS: 50 Gems per Task
Campaign Pass
Players earn rewards as they gain more Stars – 10 STARS for each reward! There are 2 parts to this system:
FREE PASS: This is the reward track that is free and available to all players in the game. The Artifact level-up is unlocked on the final stage each week on this track (each 100 STARS).
ELITE PASS: These rewards require players to have purchased either an Elite Pass or Elite+ Pass. The rewards will contain some cosmetics and collectibles, as well as some rarer resources that players can use in the game.
Elite Pass & Elite+
Purchasing either Elite Pass or Elite+ Pass will give players access to the Elite Pass reward track for that Campaign only. (Players will need to purchase it again for any future Campaigns if they wish to earn rewards from Elite Pass again).
If a player has already earned some rewards on the free track, and purchases Elite Pass or Elite+ Pass, they will immediately receive (in the mail) all Elite Track rewards corresponding to the ones on the Free Track that they have already earned.
Elite+ Pass will also immediately give some extra in-game rewards and will also give a subscription to earn a bonus of 20 STARS every week.
There will be an extra 20 rewards for players who get the Elite+ subscription, so the extra Stars can continue to earn rewards even after the player has gotten all of the normal rewards.
Players who purchase Elite Pass can always choose later in the Campaign, to upgrade to Elite+ Pass. (The upgrade cost is the difference in costs between Elite Pass and Elite+).
Players who purchase an Elite+ Pass later in the Campaign or upgrade later in the Campaign will earn the bonus Stars from any previous weeks. (e.g. Purchasing the Elite Pass on Week 5 of the Campaign will immediately give you 100 Stars, and 20 stars at the start of each week for the 5 remaining Chapters).
Artifact
Artifacts are the temporary buffs that players can unlock and upgrade during the Campaign for every 100 Stars earned (to a max of 10 levels).
This buff provides bonus stat points to player’s teams in all game modes during the Campaign, including PvP & Guild Wars.
Artifacts also provide small stories from the game world, related to the Campaign setting, unlocking each 100 Stars, for players who enjoy the stories.
Players can continue to read this lore after the Campaign ends, as Artifacts will be viewable in the player’s inventory.
Each Campaign will have their own Artifact for players to collect and level up.
Campaign Reset
Once a Campaign ends, the following will happen:
Players are no longer able to complete Tasks or progress in the Campaign.
Any uncollected rewards will be sent out in the mail.
Artifacts will no longer apply any of their bonuses.
The Campaign button will display a pop up while no Campaign is active.
Any Elite Pass or Elite+ Pass subscriptions will end.
There will be a 1 week break between Campaigns.
When the next Campaign starts players will start at the beginning again with zero stars (stars do not carry over between campaigns).
With the introduction of the Campaign, we will be running more World Events, but don’t worry, none of your other favourite Weekly Events are going away.
Raid Boss Events will be joining Invasions as a weekend event in the future, as all Kingdoms have now had a Raid Boss Event.
Tower of Doom will be run in between Campaigns (every 10 weeks), and may also make an appearance as a weekend event. We are also planning changes so you can still earn the Forge Scrolls that you need.
Guild Wars will continue to be every 4 weeks, however it will now run at the same time as other events.
Kingdom Weapon Packs are new purchasable Packs that give newer players a weapon and some resources to help them out in quests. The Packs contain the following Rewards:
A new Weapon
200 Gems (this will be 23 Gem Keys on PS4)
36 Epic Ingots
20,000 Gold
5,000 Souls
All Kingdoms, except for Broken Spire will have their own weapon available in the pack, so there are 33 new Weapons.
Broken Spire already had Axe of the Spire in the starter pack which fills a similar role to these weapons.
These weapons have been designed to help players deal more damage to Enemies from that Kingdom.
Kingdom Weapon Packs will only be available to players who haven’t completed the questline in a Kingdom.
The offer will replace the Explore button on the Kingdom popup menu.
Once a player has completed the questline, the offer will no longer be available and the Explore button will return.
Players who do not purchase a weapon, or have already completed all the quests, will be able to get the weapons 1 of 2 ways:
Craft the weapon during the Kingdom’s next weekly event
Purchase the weapon from a Weapon Flash Offer
We have removed the “Submit a Ticket” button from the Help Tab in the Settings Menu, leaving the “Help Center” button as the primary means of contacting support from in-game.
Why are we removing ‘Submit a Ticket’? One of our goals is to be more responsive to players with critical issues who need help urgently. After the “Submit a Ticket” button was added 12 months ago, we noticed an increase in types of tickets that would have been quicker for players to fix using the self-help in our Help Center (things such as checking that rewards were received, which can be looked up in the received-mail tab).
While we love to help you all out, we noticed that our support response time increased because of all these new tickets. As the “Help Center” button sends you through the self-help, we believe that this change should improve the quality of support for ALL players – players with issues that can be solved by themselves will no longer have to wait for a Support Team response – and players with critical issues should be responded to faster.
How do I use the Help Center now? Players will still be able to access the Gems of War Help Center from in the game, and we will be making improvements so more players will be able to solve common issues without needing to wait for a reply from Support.
Players will still be able to submit tickets through the Help Center for issues where self-help doesn’t give a solution.
Does this change mean that we’ll get less support? No, we are making this change so players will have the ability to help themselves on common issues, while players who have more difficult issues can get responses sooner.
Will you bring the ability to submit tickets in-game back in the future? While it’s unlikely to return in the same way, we plan to investigate and discuss new ideas for how players might get the right help when needed.
Are other changes going to happen to the Help Center? We have spent time in the lead up to the 5.0 Update reviewing and improving our existing articles, while also adding new articles for common issues that are not documented yet.We will continue to work on this too.
We will also be creating an area on the forums for players to post suggestions for new Help Center articles.
Other Changes
UI Update to reflect removal of the Submit a Ticket Button
Links to all our social pages are now available in a pop up menu by tapping the Social Button on the menu.
For our 5.0 Update, we have 5 new Achievements to collect (PC, PS4, Xbox One and Android Only).

This Journey Begins… – Get your first Artifact to Level 1
Quarter Pounder – Complete 25 Tasks in any Campaign
Hard Taskmaster – Complete 100 Campaign Tasks in a single Campaign

We have changed Troops with the Boss troop type to now have a Red Border to separate them from regular Troops.
We have changed the Artifact Weapon Type to be renamed to Relics, to avoid confusion with Campaign Artifacts.
We have also fixed an assortment of smaller issues.
