Hello Community, as you know, we have applied for a patent for the trademark “GeneRacing” as a word-picture trademark and are its owner with seniority priority, which means that we as the senior patent owner do not (can) infringe any rights.
Nevertheless, we want to avoid confusion as far as possible and do everything to ensure that there is no overlap here. Therefore, we have decided to distance ourselves even more clearly from supposed similarities – as we have always communicated and realised in a documented way. For this reason GeneRacing will be renamed GentRacing. GentRacing is therefore also not available in Finland, Sweden, Norway and Lithuania since 2021.
The new name “GentRacing” is an abbreviation for GentlemanRacing, as some players have already correctly guessed. We want to behave, race and interact with each other like gentlemen in a variety of racing modes.
For us, this name change naturally means an immensely high cost and time expenditure, but we are happy to accept this in order to send a positive signal in all directions. Of course, “GentRacing” has also been successfully registered as a word and image trademark.
Nevertheless, we are constantly working on achieving our ideas and promises with discipline!
In the meantime, the entire network core has been completely revised. This also entailed a new revision of the vehicle physics. We have now reached a status that, from a development point of view, ensures the absolute best case for future further developments.
What does that mean in concrete terms? – The vehicles now finally behave as realistically as one would expect them to do – The network core has been reprogrammed to dedicated servers with server-authoritative movements – Server-side AI’s will now be possible (no client needs to be responsible for this) – Each player will be able to host a headless (dedicated) server in the future – There will be official game servers (for the world ranking games) and unofficial game servers. – The effects of high latencies of individual players are a thing of the past. – The collision problems are almost completely solved. – The preparations for spectators and streamers can now be integrated without any technical problems. – The number of racers on a track is now unlimited (depending on FPS factors) – The default car set is almost finished (only 1 car is missing)

After a few months of waiting, which most of course noticed, today we can publish official news, good news.
In the last few months, from March until today, we have dealt with important legal issues. Primarily trademark law, patent protection, intellectual property and trademark issues were examined extensively over several weeks by our lawyer, specialist in national and international trademark law.
So that neither we, nor the competition, and least of all the community, have to suffer from injuries in the long term (due to any country restrictions or other), we have taken a considerable amount (which even exceeds the current development costs) into hand for all trademark law issues nationally and to be checked throughout Europe.
The result, which has now been confirmed, is: There are no national or europe-wide overlaps or infringements in the context of trademark law. There are no trademark registrations that affect “GeneRacing” in any way or infringe GeneRacing.
In addition to this legal protection, we have of course also made use of our right to protection and registered the image, word and figurative mark “GeneRacing” nationally and europe-wide (i.e. in all EU member states) as valid today. In the course of this, all protectable content relating to the programming and the ideas behind GeneRacing were legally and notarized as “personal intellectual creation” and regularly adapted to any changes and innovations.
We have therefore registered the brand in all necessary categories, nationally and Europe-wide as of September 17, 2021. GeneRacing now owns several patents with a pleasing priority seniority from December 16, 2020.
The responsible international authority (Euipo) provides a 3 month objection period in order to guarantee a necessary waiting period for any complaints and objections by third parties before registration. This deadline expired on 9.9.2021 with 0 objections and complaints.
This means that further development is fully secured, any restrictions are no longer necessary and any past trademark infringements are completely excluded up to a certain deadline.
For us this means: GeneRacing is picking up speed again, we’re looking forward to winter;)
