Hello, everyone! We are thrilled to announce that Gensokyo Odyssey is celebrating its first anniversary today! It's been an incredible journey so far, and we couldn't have done it without you—our wonderful community. Your passion and support have been the driving force behind this project, and I want to thank you for making this game the success that it is, and it's growth thus far.

Also, for today only, we're bringing back the 2021 Ren'py version of Gensokyo Odyssey! For those who don’t know, Gensokyo Odyssey was first created as a small game for the 2021 Touhou Game Jam, developed in under 72 hours. Against all odds, it won 1st place as an underdog victory, and the rest is history! Ever since, many players have asked about seeing the original version that started it all. And so, we're excited to offer a limited-time chance to experience (or re-experience) the jam entry that launched the game! You'll definitely be able to tell it was made in under 72 hours, though.

On the Gensokyo Odyssey discord server, many people have asked for many different kinds of merch to enter the lineup, so today we're holding a poll for what the new Gensokyo Odyssey merch should be! While it’s fun to revisit where Gensokyo Odyssey began, we're much more excited about where it's headed! Gensokyo Odyssey at TouhouFest!
We are thrilled to finally share some exciting news that we've been keeping under wraps: Gensokyo Odyssey will be making its debut at TouhouFest 2025! As what is arguably the largest gathering of Touhou fans around the world, TouhouFest is the pinnacle of the Touhou community, bringing together fans from across the globe to revel in everything Touhou has to offer.
This year, Gensokyo Odyssey has an exhibit of its own and I will personally be traveling from NYC to oversee the spectacular Gensokyo Odyssey exhibit at TouhouFest. Our exhibit promises to be a highlight of the festival, featuring interactive experiences and exclusive content for Touhou enthusiasts while showcasing the game's creativity and passion. Visitors to the Gensokyo Odyssey exhibit can expect a comprehensive showcase of our merchandise, including some brand-new additions. Kakkoi Fumo and Gensokyo Odyssey Merchandise Available!
Hello, everyone!
During November and the holiday season, I mentioned a Kakkoi Fumo in the making. Now, I'm happy to announce that the Kakkoi Fumo has been released publicly!
In addition to the Fumo, I will be making the Mad Alice Keychain available for purchase, as well as bringing back the Kakkoi Poster and Keychains.
A lot of things have happened since the last game update which was only a month ago, and I'd glad to finally be able to share some things with you!
In preparing for the Laundromat update, we've added a few things to the game, the centerpiece being something I've been meaning to add since the game's release... The Gallery!
Now, you can see what characters you've met and faced off against, and see who's left for you to meet! And as you play and progress through the game, the list will expand.
Additionally, you can also click on them to learn more about these characters, including some stuff you may not have known!
All progress you've previously made in the game has been carried over in the Gallery, so it's up to date! The gallery progress you've made stays with you even if you start a New Game, and you can check it out anytime in the Main Menu.
Along with this update, some minor bug fixes have been added, Eirin's fight has been made slightly easier, and a softlock case during Kakkoi's second fight has been fixed.
I would also like to announce that Gensokyo Odyssey has been granted eligibility for Steam profile items/points store! We've made a nice selection of profile backgrounds, animated stickers, and emoticons for you to enjoy and decorate your Steam profile with! You can check all of them out in the Points Shop at any time!
Along with this, we've released a set of trading cards! Try and collect them all! Everyone who bought the game will automatically receive a few card drops.

Today is November 14, a special day for both me and the game. It's my birthday, sure, but it also marks when Gensokyo Odyssey began development 3 years ago.
Three years is of course a long time, and yet, it feels like yesterday when I was just starting to envision the game and characters like Kakkoi. It's been quite the journey, filled with challenges, learning experiences, and joyful moments, and seeing all the work and love everyone put into this game finally be shown and playable for everyone to enjoy is very rewarding. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and enthusiasm for Gensokyo Odyssey. Seeing your kind comments, fan art (especially the fan art wow), and excitement for the game has been incredibly motivating and heartwarming. I'm grateful to have such a wonderful community around this project.
While there's still much more to come for Gensokyo Odyssey, I'm proud and happy with what we've achieved so far. I hope this project continues to bring joy and entertainment to everybody, and I look forward to seeing where it will go in the future.
Kakkoi's Money Laundromat Sneak Peak
Much like Gensokyo Odyssey itself, this tiny minigame that was meant to be a small joke cookie-clicker type Easter egg for the game is growing into something bigger. I don't want to spoil a lot of it, but here's a little sneak peek at some screenshots.
Kakkoi Fumo Plush
Yes, it's happening. I've been asked many, many times to release a Kakkoi fumo. I've considered it many times, but the cost to produce them is high and isn't something I can pay for out of pocket. And even so, don't know if there would be enough interest in them to make it worth the cost. So heres the deal-- if we reach the fundraising goal of $1000 by around a month from now, I will release and produce a Kakkoi Fumo plush. If we don't reach the 1000$ goal, those who have donated will not be charged and the plush will not be made.
I've made a Kickstarter campaign where you can pledge money towards the goal and receive Kakkoi fumo(s) and exclusive Gensokyo Odyssey merchandise. This technically counts as ordering for the fumos too, so if you ever in your life want or plan on buying a Kakkoi fumo, now is the time to do it. Usually, fumos cost around 60$ now (or from scalpers, around 200$), but those prices are with the main intention of profit and use artificial scarcity to drive prices higher. If I make a Kakkoi fumo, I'd like to make it more accessible to the average fan, so for those who pledge in the Kickstarter within a month, the price to receive a Kakkoi fumo is 30$. After that, it will go up to 40$ and stay there if produced. For more information you can check out the Kickstarter page.

Hello everyone! It's been a while since the last game update (we are far more active and informative on the Gensokyo Odyssey Discord server) and I've come with a lot of news regarding the game.
First off, the game update itself. This update is v2.0 and includes quite a large amount of changes.
Subtitles added to all the cutscenes, you can turn them on in the Preferences menu
3 new achievements in the fights
A new "overtime" phase has been added to the secret boss, giving an alternate way to defeat them
Dialogue has been added to Kakkoi's boss fight (MORE LORE!! YAHOOO!!!!)
Resolution now defaults to whatever resolution you'd like to set it to
New dialogue has been added to the Blackjack Minigame
Fixed a softlock when playing Blackjack immediately after beating the game for the first time
Bug fixes on some fights
A few more QoL additions that I forgot to mention
This update also introduces the Russian localization of the game! For the first time since the game's release, people who aren't fluent in English can enjoy the game. This is the first of what I hope to be many translations of the game. In other news, I'll be adding a new post-game minigame, Kakkoi's Money Laundromat. This has been mentioned on the Gensokyo Odyssey discord server and is more frequently discussed there.
Kakkoi went and gambled all her money on blackjack. Idiot. What better way to get her money back than to "take back" what's rightfully hers, in the form of a daring robbery? Or two? Or ten? Or as many as it takes to get it all back? With a little style, a little cunning, and a lot of adrenaline, Kakkoi... wait, if people see her robbing again they might remember her, and the police most certainly will if she gets caught! That's right, we're gonna let Okuu, Kakkoi's trusty right-hand and muscle, do the robbing. After all, she likes blowing people up. But with all that new hard-earned moola, you can't just go around town with bags of cash! Luckily, Kakkoi has the perfect solution: money laundering! Set up a few front businesses, open a casino or two (maybe even gamble your cash there!), and voila - clean, legitimate money. Upgrade Okuu's heist skills by teaching her what and what not to do in robberies, persuade other characters and their businesses to join you via charisma or blackmail, pimp out your room, and watch your fortune grow.
Just remember to keep your schemes discreet, because if the police catch on, it's game over! Stay one step ahead of the law... and your own greed!
