I will admit I have been neglecting this one, working on other things and the like. Anyway I am now moving it out of early access with this new update.
Fixed errors in Forest day
Fixed errors in Forest night
Redid Desert
Added new level – Minefield
Added new Level – Retro
Fixed textures in many places
Fixed pause menu
Started adding more secret levels
Modified audio
Fixed a few invisible walls
I will continue to add more things to it, such as more secret levels that can only be accessed by finding them in the main levels. Easter eggs, and probably more full levels in the future. This is an older project, it does not look great. But it's fun to pick away at when I have the time, and I kept the new levels within the visual look of older levels (simple-ish textures, no complex shaders). I had thought about completely re-making the levels with newer stuff and better visuals, but that would require basically remaking the entire game. So I will save that for the possible sequel that people have asked for that may happen in the future, "Go Outside Together". Although I have been struggling with making multiplayer work in my latest game "Flank Speed" (check it out if you like arcade games or making fun of my design choices and possible spelling errors) because setting up networking is difficult for me apparently.
Enjoy the outdoors.
Next update
It has been a long time, and I know this is just a joke of a game. But I am still working on it. I've been working on a couple new game projects that are actual real games (as well as other work because money is required to live). However I do plan on finishing up the next big update real soon. I will also be moving the game out of early access as there isn't much else I can do with it beyond make new maps. Which is what I plan on doing. It will be out of early access but i'll continue to make new content for it because it's a fun chill game to work on.
So yeah this isn't an abandon game, life just got in the way but it's still very much on my to do list. My next game will also have online multiplayer, if I can figure that out i'll see about eventually making the multiplayer "go outside together" update.
New update
Interactivity and mortality are now being implemented. Please be safe outside.
Update 0.6 No longer indestructible.
New update, it feels small, but it's a lot of groundwork for the next update. One thing that has been added is interactivity. I've finally started adding the ability to interact with things in different ways. It's very basic right now but more stuff will be added. One thing this adds is new secrets to find in each environment. Easter eggs may not always be passive anymore.
However be warned, as the title suggests the outdoors are a bit more dangerous. The ability to die is now present.
No lives or health bars, so your exploration can still be calm and relaxing. But if you die your walk in that environment ends.
So go out and explore, find new things, look for secrets. More secrets, more interactivity, and more amusing ways to end your walks will be added. Also I'm still trying to figure out multiplayer, I have not given up on that.
Change log:
Added death
Interactivity overhaul
Added first secret environment (you will need to find it)
Texture update Mars
Texture update Island
Terrain update Arctic
Terrain update Forest winter
Terrain update Forest day
Moved object from Moon
Added new object to Island
Coming up
It has been some time. Life gets in the way and all that. Anyway I am working on a new update still. it adds a couple new features and i'm thinking of overhauling a couple of the older maps. Joke game or not I still work on it when I can.
Next update incoming
Although I don't always have time for this game I am always picking away at it and thinking of new ways to improve it. To that end the next update will have some improvements and a new gameplay feature that will enhance the outside experience. No spoilers but it will be a simple yet amusing addition.
Also I've been learning about implementing multiplayer in a new project I've been working on, and if it works I will also be implementing multiplayer in Go Outside Simulator. There are lots of Easter eggs to find on every map, with more planned to be added. A friend or 2 might make finding them easier and/or funner.
Finally I still have no plans to increase the price so continue to enjoy the outdoors for only $0.99 USD while also helping me fund this and future projects. Everyone who has taken the time to play this is the real MVP and I thank you.

New environments
Alright I know development of this is spotty at best, but I do work on it when I have the time. Going to work on a small update to remove the cylinder level and add in one I thought about yesterday. But i'll also do some fixes and such. As well as start on new more in depth environments.
I also still plan on the Forest day overhaul I've been talking about for...2 years. It will happen eventually.
Also i'm going to look into adding online multiplayer at some point because people have asked for it and I honestly find the idea very funny. But for right this moment i'll try to get the small update pushed before the weekend that will add a new environment and remove the cylinder. If I can get it working in the future it will be added back in but right now it's going away. I'm going to do another small environment as I have only 1 and I want to balance out the level select a bit.
Onward and upward. Thank you for supporting this meme game. I didn't plan on having it as a forever background project but it is now so I won't stop picking away at it for the foreseeable future. That being said it has already accomplished what it set out to do. which was buy me a VR headset and allow me to learn enough to make VR stuff. So you can expect a VR simulation thingy to be coming out at some point (the first build is basically done I just need to add menu and locomotion functionality).
About the new environment in the latest update
Ok I pushed an update for the first time in a year. It's mostly just small fixes and improvements. I also tossed in the new map I've been working on. It's horrifically broken.
Play it as you can because i'm probably removing it in the next update and will not put it back in until it's not horrifically broken. Like if you play that map, then go to the main menu and play another map, the controller in that map will be broken and gravity will screw up. It's actually kind of funny so have fun playing with that. Restarting the game fixes it and everything else works as well as it did before. So just be warned you will need to restart the game after you leave the cylinder if you want to play other maps.
So yeah, it's in temporarily, I will be pulling it with the next update and it will not return until it is no longer making me cry.
0.5.1 update
Long over due update, but the project is alive again.
Patch notes
Added new experimental environment (O'Neill cylinder)
