Alpha 23 Heroes of Elderstone

Hello Heroes!

The day has finally arrived where all the heroes of Elderstone can gather at your local Tavern, ready to be hired for your grand adventures and raids! These heroes are very special – some of them are designed by our very special Kickstarter backers and we also have the very first goblin adventuring party from the Goblins Comic! Please check out the web comic if you don’t already know about it. One of the heroes is even from a Novel loosely set in an alternative version of Elderstone written by our resident goblin writer - go and read Stormbane!

This has been another monumental update bringing us so much closer to Beta. We have made tons of improvements to all the systems and fixed many bugs but are most excited about the new Tavern building where you can hire these new heroes.

Features:



• Added 7 new Kickstarter Backer heroes, 4 Goblin Adventure Party Comic heroes, and 6 other heroes to the game.
• These heroes can be hired from the new Tavern building and will stay with you for several years.
• You can hire up to 6 heroes at a time.
• Heroes that do not get their contracts renewed will leave the village.
• Every Summer, the list of available heroes to hire at the Tavern will be renewed.
• Heroes can help defend the village and can provide powerful bonuses to a trek when assigned as their party's leader.
• If your Tavern gets destroyed, your heroes will stay if you rebuild the Tavern, and their contracts are still active.
• Added in new goblin traits Insomniac, Immune, Pious, Strong, Savage, Hot-Blooded, Hippie and Speedy.
• Added a Satisfaction meter for goblins which helps you see their overall state based on their current moods.
• You can now click on the village Happiness meter on the HUD to display an overview and breakdown of the satisfactions for each of your goblins.
• Riots now only occur when a goblin’s satisfaction is below a specific threshold.
• Added a warning system for conditions and needs affecting percentages of the village population as a new HUD element.
• Warnings can be clicked to lead a player to which goblins are affected, which buildings can fix that warning, or what building needs to be built.
• Added dissatisfied notification to warn players when goblins have hit their riot threshold.
• Updated game start cave scene.
• Added resolution render scale in the options menu.
• Mood bars in the goblin stats window now animate depending on whether increasing or decreasing.
• Related buildings now show Efficiency for the building as a whole and the individual goblins that work there.
• Crafting animation speed is now based on a goblin’s Efficiency.
• When a construction site is missing resources, the game will now inform the player by displaying a message in the log window every so often.
• Log messages regarding a missing resource for a construction can be clicked to lead players to the required building that provides that resource (either its construction site or in the building menu).
• Added additional tooltips on Clan Creation screen and the Spellbook.

Balance:



• Gods not assigned to a Temple can no longer be interacted with in the Pantheon screen.
• Revised stats for Warrior, Scout, Town Watch, and Guard.
• Juju gained from Holy Treks are no longer proportional to the player's current amount.
• Revised how resources are rolled when performing a Scout or Raid trek so that they are based on the resources’ value.
• Increased resource capacity for Storage and Upgraded Storage.
• Revised Gold values for some resources in the Merchant feature.
• Reduced the decrease amount for Happiness on Exhausted and Tired conditions.
• Decreased success chance for Praying to gods in the Pantheon screen.

Bugs:



• Enforcers will no longer cause damage to rioting goblins when arresting.
• Death message about eating will no longer occur.
• Can no longer re-raid a location through the Diplomacy screen loop.
• Fix so that if the Trade Prince is on a trek or sleeping the spring trader still visits.
• Fix for skeleton spawning to no longer slide while doing their spawn animation from below ground.
• Fixing weaver work animation never playing.
• Visual improvements to path rendering.
• No longer throttling character movement components tick rate, as this can cause them to walk off the nav mesh.
• Fix for some buggy UI animation states with Notifications.
• Improving CPU performance for large villages.

Alpha 22 Divine Orders

Hi again goblin leaders!



In this update we have made further improvements to the new gods interface and added quests that you can complete in order to gain faith with your various gods. Failing them however will also upset them of course! A major quality of life and information improvement is that you will now be able to see goblin tasks and pathing when you select a goblin or any relevant building.

Features



• Added context sensitive overlay to show goblin paths related to a selected object.
• Gods will now issue quests if they are in good standing and have a temple assigned.
• Added a particle beam to the trader to more easily identify him.
• New fog effects for the world map locations and reveals.

Balance



• Fixed some follower conditions to be 3 years long.
• Clan optimism buff now only lasts 8 years, not permanent on founding goblins.
• Reduced Bone ingredient for Voodoo from 2 to 1.
• Removed Voodoo need from some goblin jobs (only Shaman, Necromancer, and Council members have this luxurious need).

UI



• Added tooltip to stat icons on goblin party portraits in the trek parties window.
• Updated faith hall UI to show you an overview of all god relationships.
• Update so changes to the spell book will have a counter on the access button and tabs.
• Added a reveal animation for new god power accessibility.
• Updated flag placement, pantheon creation, world map selection, graveyard and resource UI.
• Added information panels for gods and regional leaders in the diplomacy screens.

Bugs



• Fixed enforcers dealing out capital punishment.
• Fix for flickering tool for blacksmith and iron/stone mine workers.
• Fix for priests clearing corpses but not delivering them to the temple if it was in use by another priest.
• Added the riot food shortage and riot no warrens actions to the king's action lists as they were missing.
• Increased movement speed of rioting goblins so they don't stalk their targets round the village forever.
• Riot cancel status fixed, should no long have the riot conditions outside performing the action.
• Riot steal item fixed, was not activating correctly.
• Increased rioting move speed.
• Fix for overlapping lighting with some of our 3D UI instances.

Hotfix: Alpha 21.9

Small hotfix for bugs related to disease and medicine and some UI tidyup.

Features:

• Fire particle effects on buildings and for wildfires has been updated.
• Construction meshes for buildings have had scaling fixed by breaking up the scaffolding mesh.
• Updates to UI for corpses, graveyards, worg dens, animals and enemies.
• Added notifications for faith needs unlock and building upgrades unlock.

Balance:

• Reduced herbs costs for crafting beer and medicine, and reduced the pigs herb consumption.
• Increased resources per bush for herbs.
• Medicine immunity to disease increased from half a year to three years.
• Increased spread chance of disease, reduced its jump distance.

Bugs:

• Fix for physics settings on ramps and cliffs to stop some errant building placement.
• Barracks no longer consume firewood while unmanned.
• Added in UI to show required resources to repair a building.
• Save upgrade for older versions with an issue with laboratory not delivering medicine to warrens.
• Fix for building pieces dissapearing and reappearing during construction.
• Damaged buildings are no longer tinted the same as an uninhabited one while inhabited.
• Stuck goblins will now try to realign to a safe area before teleporting.
• Fix for snow tesselation in mountain biomes.
• Removed champion units from the priorities menu.
• Only showing clan faith needs in warrens UI once they are unlocked.
• Goblin king/queen will now display with their correct faction breed in the diplomacy screen.
• Fix for merchant not arriving when the player selects disable enemies in the clan create screen.
• Buildings fire sounds should now be cleaned up correctly.
• Fix for the inhabit animation on the trade hall.

• Bug fix for priests not healing goblins if they had previously cast a follower buff on another goblin.
• Bug fix for woodcutters and scavengers continuing to gather resources once their buildings local storage was filled after reloading a save file.
• Fix for scavengers fleeing from wargs in the direction of frogs instead of home.
• Slight Merchant UI fix for Ultrawide screens.

Alpha 21: Gods of Elderstone

Hi again you crazy alpha goblins!

All of the gods have finally arrived! You will now be able to pray to the gods of your pantheon and your goblins now expect their religious needs to be fulfilled by receiving blessings from the priests otherwise they will get upset and riot. Each god in your pantheon requires a temple devoted to it in order for priests to spread the blessing of that god. Do your best to please all the gods in your pantheon otherwise you might feel their wrath. We have also introduced a new unit type – champions! Some gods have champions that you can gain if you unlock that perk with enough Faith.

The usual list of bug fixes and balance changes have been done as well, see the notes below for more details.

Features:

• Finished adding all eight of the Elderstone Gods and implemented all their spells and passive powers.
• Gods Diplomacy added which is unlocked after building a Temple or a Faith Hall.
• Goblin religious needs are now unlocked when God diplomacy is.
• Priests will now spread the word of their temples assigned God to the populous.
• Each buff offered by the different priests, give different work-related bonuses.
• Two new units added as Champions to their gods, Moonghast offering the Necromancer, and Furymane offering the Berserker.
• Necromancers can summon allied skeletal warriors.
• A Spell book is now available to view and spend Juju within.
• God Punishments/Wrath will now activate if you get too low in faith with a god.
• Faith will be generated whenever you have more than 50% of the population with a gods follower buff.
• Faith will be lost if you have less than 50% of the population with a gods follower buff.
• Faith can also be influenced through interactions in diplomacy.
• New SFX for the new gods, and god units.
• Priorities for Priest jobs can now be set from within the Temple, not just the priorities menu.
• Goblins without their religious needs met can riot.
• A drop in faith can cause your Champions to fall out of favour and lose their place at the Temple.

Balance:

• Increased Resource Total for Herbs (15 -> 30).
• Reduced Herb cost for Pigs.
• Saddle need now unlocked after building the Worg Den.
• Decreased the amount of Happiness gained from Eating condition.
• Increased the amount of Happiness lost from FoodShortage condition
• Increased the amount of Aggression gained from FoodShortage condition.
• Decreased the amount of Happiness lost from Demoted condition.
• Decreased the amount of Aggression gained from Demoted condition.
• Champions get another 4 bonus stats.

Bugs:

• Fix for a crash when a tree is burnt down while a woodcutter was about to chop it down.
• Removed Potions from the game.
• Fixed an issue with dragging off but then replacing a God at a Temple would still damage your faith level.
• Fix for an issue with the temporary storage by the campfire hitting max capacity and removing resources.

Known Issues:

• Not all god interaction animations have been finished, there will be more animations soon.
• Quests from the Gods will also be coming soon.
• For now, as we do not currently have a breakdown for relationships to cover it, treks currently won't affect gods until next update.

Alpha 20.9

A clean up of bugs and features.

Features:

-Added Audio for the critters when clicking on them.
-More god powers that were not active, are now functional.
-Added Tooltips for what the needs numbers in the main inventory mean.
-Esc button will now back you out of most UI including the Clan creation story setup.

Balance:

-Merchant resource prices adjusted slightly.
-Revised Hauler tutorial to be more informative of what Haulers do.
-Basic tools unlocked earlier, after storage hut completion.
-Heat source radii increased to help with warmth levels moving around village.
-Slightly increased storage increase when upgrading Storage Hut (700 -> 750)

Bugs:

-Grass patches adjusted to not look as much like thick carpet by adding some noise to break it up. Also uses lower poly mesh for better performance.
-Final step in the mythology story selection will now pause with a summary.
-Summarized goblin deaths and actions into a single line.
-Clan needs disabled for tabs that do not have any requirements under that section.
-Toned down the look of the snow in the winter and for how long its active during winter.
-Fixed a popping issue with tooltips.
-Fixed an issue with some of the links joining elevator landings had a gap that made them unusable.
-Reduced the chances of trek triggered story moments happening multiple times.

Alpha 20: Nations of Elderstone

Greetings to all goblin leaders! It’s finally time to test your wits against the other races of Elderstone. We have added the diplomacy feature in this update which will unlock once you discover at least one of the other NPC leaders in the world map. We hope you enjoy this new feature and look forward to your feedback as we balance and improve it in the future.

Features:


  • Added in Diplomacy with the other races you can discover during Treks in the world map.
  • Diplomacy allows the player to boost their trek chances by becoming enemies or allies with each settlement leader.
  • You can actively gift and compliment or insult and request favours from the other leaders.
  • Allies will trade more favourably with trade treks and be more responsive to faith pilgrimages.
  • Orc, Elven, Human and Dwarven raider units added to the game.
  • If you are not at least friendly with a leader then may send thieves to your village.
  • If you are enemies with a leader, they may send warbands to your village.
  • Have all new music and sound design for diplomacy and raids.
  • The elder resource UI had a small update to its looks.
  • Added a toggle key 'M' for swapping between world map and village.


Balancing:


  • Goblin movement speed is now based off what they are doing, faster work movement, slower when heading to bed etc.
  • Increased Priests Healing by 50% to help compensate the fact that they can no longer cure disease.
  • Increased crafting of Medicine so workers craft 2 medicine at a time.
  • Increased firewood delivery priority slightly in warmer seasons.
  • Moved building upgrades to unlock after you have a blacksmith and treks unlocked.
  • Updating corpse and disease tutorials.
  • Disease now unlocks after 80 Years or after 90 Population.
  • War Hall now cost Iron, Planks, and Basic Tools.
  • Faith Hall now costs Stone, Planks, and Basic Tools.
  • Scavenger job now need Basic Weapons instead of Weapons.
  • Warm Clothes need now unlocked through Pig Sty.
  • War Hall and Faith Hall now costs Iron and Stone.
  • Scavenger Hut no longer need Logs for construction.
  • Basic Weapons need now unlocked by the Scavenger Hut.
  • Weapons need now unlocked through the War Hall.
  • Cloth need now unlocked through the Scavenger Hut.
  • Tool need now unlocked through the Faith Hall.
  • Beer need now unlocked through the Blacksmith.



Bug Fixes:


  • Slight adjustment to how the seasons transition and some of the coloration.
  • Fix for a crash when clicking on a work building for a goblin that died while away on a trek.
  • Fixed the Worg cave UI close button graphical issue.
  • Goblins no longer cancel attacks immediately if an enemy exits their range.
  • Projectiles have been changed to attach to their targets and move with them nicely.
  • Fixed monolith faith trek crash.
  • Updated night-time lighting to correctly use moonlight.
  • Goblins who die on treks are now removed from clans / housing correctly stopping blocking warren slots.
  • Having the Grand hall in an upgrade state will no longer block food/firewood delivery.
  • Notifications groomed and now show numbers for how many notifications are minimized.
  • Increased path finding max search nodes to stop some goblins failing their paths in new larger maps.

Hotfix 19.6

Small hotfix for some resource balancing and a few small bugs.

Balance:
-Increased Priest Healing stat (2 -> 3) helps compensate the fact that they no longer cure diseases
-Revised max resources for some basic resources and intermediate resources.
-Changed Laboratory Cloth cost from 10 to 5.
-Removed Pig rewards from Treks.

Bugs:
-Updated Temple's description to remove mention of Priest curing diseases.
-Fixing Grand hall not producing heat
