We wanted to tell you that we've been working on a new game. It's called The Zone: Stalker Stories, a post-apocalyptic, narrative RPG with deckbuilder card combat -- and we just launched a Kickstarter campaign for it!
Hello to all our lovely Creationists out there! (Is that a good name? No?)
I've got a new update for you that should be of some interest. To make a long story short, we have:
Fully integrated the performance and stability update into the public build
Restored functionality on Steam achievements
Crafted a new golem gallery feature on the main menu
The golem gallery will allow you to view all the crazy creations you have unlocked, as well as ones you haven't seen yet. If you're going for a completionist run, this should help you figure out what you're missing. And it's just nice to look at.
I hope you enjoy it!
And as always, if you encounter any problems, just let me know in the discussions forum and I'll get on top of it.
Performance & Stability Update now in Beta
We at Illuminated Games are always hard at work! And after many hours -- far more hours than you'd believe -- I've managed to make a number of upgrades and improvements that should help improve performance for pretty much everyone. Also to hopefully fix some of the most stubborn bugs we've had.
The update is now in open beta, so if you're running into problems or unsatisfactory performance, give it a try! You can enable it using your Betas menu in Steam.
It should work fine with existing saves. You should also gain achievements as normal.
If you still run into any problems, please report them in the discussions forum and I'll do my best to help!
Soundtrack now available!
The GCK soundtrack is now available as DLC for a mere $2! If you've played the game, you know it's awesome, and at that price it is a steal. There's even a launch discount. So what are you waiting for? Go get it right now!
Testing Performance Improvement
As most of you know, some people have been experiencing problems with lag and choppy gameplay.
Someone (thanks Natalie!) has brought to my attention that the engine's mouse cursor support may be a problem. So we're trying out a new option that I hope will improve things for at least some players.
Since this hasn't been properly tested yet, it's currently only available in our beta build, but you can access it with the following instructions:
http://steamcommunity.com/app/650680/discussions/0/1457328927846048611/
Once you've installed the beta build, in the Options menu, hit "Disable Custom Cursor." Then let me know on the discussion forums if it helped!
Quality of Life Improvements
Good news, everyone!
Bug reports have slowed right down, which means we must be doing something right. It also means we're going to have time to put in some serious hours simply making the game more pleasant to play for you guys. We want to encourage everyone's playstyle however we can.
Our first two big improvements are already in with the latest update -- scrolling using WASD and arrow keys, and an option to play the game without time limits.
If you have any other suggestions to make, please drop by our discussion forum and weigh in about what you would like to see from Golem Creation Kit!
(And as always, if you encounter any problems, please report them and I will slay them immediately.)
A heartfelt message from the dev
Hello everyone, I'm Ryan, and I'm pretty much the guy who made GCK -- with the patient and unflagging support of superb artists, musicians and sound people.
I'd like to thank everyone reading for being willing to give this game a try, and especially the people in our bug reports thread so far who -- by any sensible measure -- deserve a bug-free experience but have been great sports all the same. I deeply appreciate the support. Seriously. I can't stress enough how much it means.
As the workload slows down I'm... a little unsure of what to do with myself, after living for this project and nothing else these past six months. But it was worth it. Even if GCK is only a mad little game that some people enjoy for its weirdness, that's enough for me.
I'm sure the rest of the team feels the same way. And to them, too, I owe much gratitude, as each and every one have done far more than I had any right to expect.
This is Golem Creation Kit. If you can, please enjoy it!
