Gone Upstate

Animal husbandry update v22.1.0

Happy new year all, thanks for playing Gone Upstate.

For the new year, I'll be rolling out some of the new features that are being worked on. The first is a well requested animal husbandry update designed to bring that homestead to life.

There is a barn west of the initial bus stop that now offers farm animals for sale. Currently, chickens, pigs, lamb and sheep are available. If you take on the task be sure to keep them feed and healthy with having fresh water and food available.

New fence build pieces are also available to help keep those under care close and safe against wild predators.

With this build the stores have also been rearranged and spread throughout the map. Vending machines are no longer present at bus stations. This is to encourage map exploration and simulate that upstate feel.

Building damage and repair has also been implemented. Walls and others constructed items will now take damage from attacks and gunshots and each build piece can be fixed with each corresponding material if damaged. This comes in preparation for the planed entity attacking updates.

There has been a few minor bug fixes as well including ai spawning improvements and resource optimization.

Thanks again, enjoy!

Farming update v0.6.8

Hi all, thanks for playing Gone Upstate.

This week we have made improvements to the farming system.

The first change is the addition of plant crop watering system. Plants now will require water to live.
The soil in each crop plot holds 100 units of water and each hour in game water is reduced by 1/100.
If the soil water level reaches the plants will die.

This brings us to the second farming improvement. When plants die, they will no longer be removed from the plot but rather turn into a death state. Visually we are still working on dead plant models but the plant state info can be read on the plant card UI. We hope this helps with showing why the plant no longer is there as well as adding a bit gameplay.

Plants are also now able to be remove from the plot. This is regardless of current the current state but useful if the plant does die or the player changed their minds and wish to plant a new crop. Harvest items will not be received if the plant is removed via this action.

We also made improvement to the way the crops are being saved. Crops are now saved by a new unique id rather than scriptable object reference. This helps with consistency over different versions of the game and hopefully we no longer loss any more crops due to save issues.

This does mean however that all plants loaded from a previous version may spawn as cabbage (id:0)

A new decorative crop item was also added by request, the plantable Fern. It is plantable in all current planter build items and seeds available at the seeds store. The growth life is very short, allowing greenery to the building site to be instant. The Ferns are also added in the wild to the cedar biome as well. The wild ferns can be pick for seeds and planted back at home.

As for planters, a new single planter item has been added. A small and round concrete pot. The pot is craftable using the concrete mix.

A Cement mixer item has also been added to allow crafting of concrete items like the concrete planter. The mixer is purchasable at the hardware store or craftable at the metalworking table. To craft it requires metal tubing, a metal sheet and a machine switch. The mixer is placeable in the world like the other crafting stations and can also be picked up and moved to a new location.

Concrete mix is now craftable in the basic craft menu

Now that the plants require water, a new water well item has also been added to the game, allowing an additional water source to the grocery store. The water well item is craftable on the workbench from small stones, cedar boards and a pot. It enables the ability to get water from below the ground and can be placed anywhere in the world.

Additional bug fixes / updates:
*Tent pickup fix for inventory item
*Anamorphic flare post process reduction
*Added warning message to save before returning to main menu

Thank y'all again, also be sure to post any suggestions to where you'd like the game to go or bug reports to the Digital Boxcar discord:. https://discord.gg/XA6PAs5w65
