Dev Blog #3: Break a Crate!

Hello everyone!

We recharged our batteries for a week. And we’re making contents to make the game more interesting.

The first is destructible crates. Crates will be destroyed by attacking, dodging, stones, Molotov cocktails and flying bodies of knocked-out enemies. We hope these various interactions will make the game richer. You may find hidden places or items behind the crates, but breaking crates is fun in itself!

The abilities to knockout are added to counterattacks and backstabs of some weapons. These have been added as part of the process of strengthening the weapon's personality, and these weapons have become more powerful.

When you equip a weapon, the combo list of the weapon will be shown in the inventory. We have some ideas to make the process of acquiring a combo list more interesting, but they have been discarded because we thought they’re less significant.

The red bandana masked guy will have a new attack pattern. This new attack is hard to dodge and know which direction he will attack, so the player is forced to guard. Like in the case of the Doorkeeper, we hope it helps players to get used to guarding.

Thanks to everyone for choosing and supporting our game!

Dev Blog #2: Tutorial and Creepy Doorkeeper

Over the past two weeks, we've made a tutorial, Doorkeeper Demons, trap pits, some hints for hidden places and more. In particular, making the tutorial has taken up some time, but it’s in the final stage. We would like to add them as soon as possible, so we will update the game when the tutorial is ready for deployment.

When you start a new game, you will learn the basics of fighting from your instructor before you ride the elevator down to the underground. We are also preparing a short story that explains why you are going down to the underground, but it will be updated later. We hope this tutorial will help players get used to the game mechanics through hands-on experiences.

The new Demon, Doorkeeper is designed to look a bit creepy. It has enormous Life and only counterattack can do great damage to it. We intend players to use counterattacks against the doorkeepers and make use of it to other enemies naturally.

The trap pits were intended to give players some tension when moving.

Some hidden places where we want players to discover as the game progresses are now more noticeable.

At this point we would like to share our rough plans for the next few months. Until April, we will focus on adding gameplay elements that will make the game more enjoyable, and we will intensively refine the game in May. More specific plans will be shared through following Dev Blogs.

Also, as you may already know, our game is built using Unreal Engine. Recently, a new version of Unreal Engine is released and it includes significant gains in overall stability. This is what we were looking forward to, so we plan to update our game engine once and for all around March.

Thank you!

Dev Blog #1: Our first Steam game in Early Access

[Tutorial Level Work In Progress]

Nine days have already passed since Early Access Launch. We've worked in the video game scene for more than ten years and released several games. However, Gone with the Demon is our first Steam game. The launch was a valuable experience. Also, it is just the beginning.

Many things happened, but the most important thing was player’s feedback and response. We had not received a lot of feedback before. We’re so thankful to receive various feedback through the launch.

Among the feedback, one major problem attracted our attention. Many players couldn’t know the game mechanics at all, and they couldn’t enjoy the game. We respect players' various play styles. However, we should let them know their options, and provide interesting opportunities to be skilled enough so that the game can be much more fun.

So, here are our plans!

  • Tutorials for basic mechanics
  • More informative input guide on HUD
  • Accessible move set list of each weapon
  • New enemies that require a specific mechanic
  • More hints for gameplay elements, including hidden places
  • Reinforce in-game guides

Fortunately, there are some positive responses. We are really grateful to all the supporters for their feedback. We will make an effort to make the game good enough to enjoy.
Thank you.
