Windows 8 /8.1 - Updated link for the fix
It has come to my attention from another player on here that the link we have provided in order to make the the run on Windows 8 / 8.1 is broken.
Please use Microsoft's official link here in order to install the Direct X runtime which will allow Gray Matter to run.

Announcement on Windows 8 / 8.1 installation issues for Gray Matter
It has come to our attention that during the QA process on Windows 8 / 8.1 for Gray Matter on Steam, the installer was not installing all of the components needed for this game to function correctly. Please see the link below and manually install the Direct X runtime. Once installed, your game should function on Windows 8 / 8.1 normally.
