Graywalkers: Purgatory

Graywalkers Purgatory Content Update #1 is Now Live!

The Graywalkers Purgatory Content Update #1 is the game's first major update since its release in Early Access several months ago. There have been minor updates but this is the first one that drastically improves the game both in features and content.

The patch notes can be checked here; https://store.steampowered.com/newshub/app/1003370/view/2735326880614045533

The details in the patch notes show the key features that were included with this patch which include the much awaited Overwatch feature, loot box highlighting, improved base inventory management, and many other smaller much needed features.

In terms of content, below is a summary of the key content that was added;

  • Today, 11 new missions were added with another 3 arriving before the end of September. This brings the total missions to over 20+ missions available. Starting next month, we will also continuously add additional missions as they become ready. We are targeting that by the end of the year 2020, there will be between 30-40 missions available in the game. Take note that some missions are part of a bigger story arc. For example, the werewolf (Mooncursed) missions are connected clearly. This is the same with the others but its possible they make intersect in the future. As we release more of the missions, the more you will understand the world and the people that inhabit it.

  • With the missions, we introduced several sample missions which can be resolved through non-combat means. Also, there is a mission that there is no clear right or wrong, you as a player will have to decide what to do. Lastly, there is a mission that requires a bit of simple problem solving where that is the focus rather than combat. These missions are to showcase just a few of the types of missions that will be encountered in the Campaign mode, as well as to provide a deeper RPG aspect to the mission mode of the game.

  • We've streamlined the abilities available in the game. We're removed several abilities as well as add new ones as well. Some of the newest abilities added are the Overwatch related abilities. These abilities affect you or your opponents on how they react to Overwatch. With these, players can get abilities that will allow them to not trigger various actions or they can get abilities that will allow them to respond to these abilities basically nullifying their effectiveness. Aside from combat, leadership and tactical abilities have also been added so that non-spellcasting characters can boost their team's effectiveness in combat. At the moment, there are over 200+ player usable abilities.

  • We've added a few dozen more weapons to the game. This includes a mix of ranged and melee weapons. We're also slowly introducing the various weapon qualities to the game. This includes both positive and negative weapon qualities. I will be discussing these more in detail in another announcement very soon. We've actually released a few videos showing some of them.

  • We've added many new items to the game such as new armor, accessories, and consumable items that you can find in the game. We've slowly been adding more of them to the different loot boxes in the missions but the true volume of these will be more visible in the campaign mode. At the moment, the count is over 40+ kinds of armor, over 150+ accessories, about 130+ melee weapons, over 290+ ranged weapons, 100+ types of ammunition and variants, and about 80+ types of consumables.

  • With the new missions, we're showing new locations and environments. Exciting locations we have are particularly the Fae enchanted ruins, abandoned train stations, and the Hellzones. Of course, there are still other types of post-apocalyptic locations to visit which people are normally familiar with.

  • We've also introduced new creatures to encounter in each of the levels. You will encounter new demons, drakes, wraiths, elementals, Kapres, and others. Sometimes though, humans seem to be the most dangerous creatures you might encounter in Purgatory.

  • Of course, we cannot forget that we are now releasing several Graywalkers to use in the missions. This includes the cowgirl Texas, the bounty hunting Arwendriel, the soldier Lily Darkeyes, the dhampir assassin Edge, the tracker Scout Atalanta, the teenage genius tech Niquie and the powerful Efreet blooded Faechilde Destiny. We even included a new air scout drone called Raptor to join the team. Take note this Drone also has an Ai allowing it to learn new abilities through learning, as well as equip many drone specific items.

  • We've introduced the team's new vehicle in the game. Right now its presence is just cosmetic but later on, it will become a more interactive piece in the game.

  • We've streamlined the action unit costs of attacks and weapons. This will allow players to be able to do more in a round giving them more options on how to strategize to win.

  • We've finally introduced specific damage types for weapons. Before, they all used to be categorized as physical damage. Now there are more types such as Ballistic, Slashing, Piercing and of course Physical which now refers to blunt or force damage. Armors and spells have also been updated as well to take this into consideration though pardon us if some have not yet been converted when you encounter them. We are slowly transitioning all of them to this system. What this does is make items more diverse. For example, archaic leather armor is effective against slashing and piercing weapons but pretty much useless to physical (bashing) and ballistic damage.

  • Ranges of weapons are also slowly being tweaked. We've increased some while reduced some.

  • We've also reworked damage a bit across the board especially for firearms. We've implemented a system that is based on the weapon's various muzzle energies of the ammo combined with the firearm. For example, based on this we've reduced the damage of shotguns in general but made them accurate at short ranges but their range drops much more quickly than normal firearm increments.

  • We're slowly improving our music in the game. We've figured out a new way to create music and you will hear a few of them. Though we've kept the same rock tone of the game, we've expanded the range but kept to the edgy music that we've used for it.

  • As you go through the game, more lore dump is included. Take note that this is just a taste and the true story will be revealed in the single-player campaign. Right now though, there is a simple rough story that go through the different mission story arcs.

There may be a few things i might have missed but that's pretty much the bulk of what is in this content. Please take note that this is still an Early Access title and everything is a work in progress. Though we are hoping that there will not be many bugs, we're expecting it to be a possibility. We request that people be patient with this and we request as well to let us know about these bugs so we can fix them as fast as we can. We plan to be very vigilant about this content update the next few weeks and will upload fixes and additions as quickly as we are able.

Take note that the game is now currently on sale with a 25% discount. We wanted to give many the opportunity to pick up the game now to try the improvements at a more reasonable price. So please tell your friends and family to grab a copy of the game. Even better would be why not grab a copy for them as a gift.

Thank you to all the people who have been supporting the game. We love your feedback so keep them coming. To those who have just gotten the game, we hope you enjoy the game. Do know that we are still continuing to build this game and improving it to the best of our ability and capacity.

Version 1.3.0 now live

New Features

  1. Added 11 new missions in Mission Mode.

  2. Implemented Overwatch ability. This immediately ends your turn and allows you to react at the first sign of enemy movement.

  3. Player can now initiate combat by attacking the enemy first while outside combat.

  4. You can now hold a hotkey (defaults to Alt) to highlight all loot containers and exits near you.

  5. Added Team Inventory Screen in Mission Mode's Team Management GUI. This allows quicker distribution of items to party members before a mission, instead of having to individually open each of their Inventory Windows. You can also now drag-and-drop directly to equipment slots when transferring items between party members.

  6. Items/spells/abilities usable on party members can now be used outside combat.

Improvements

  1. Enemy AI improvements: ranged attackers will now move to get line-of-sight to their target if needed, some ranged attackers will keep away and prefer shooting from a distance, some enemies will randomly choose what attack they do, etc.
  2. Disabled the game from pinging Unity servers for hardware statistics.
  3. Reduced framerate dips when saving game.
  4. Reduced framerate dips when you have a melee weapon equipped in combat and is moving the cursor around to target enemies.
  5. Deleting of saves will now actually just move them to a trash folder instead of outright actual deletion. Every start of game, saves in the trash folder that are at least 7 days old will be truly deleted. The trash folder, once it exists, is accessible at
C:\\Users\\Your Windows Username Here\\AppData\\Local\\Dreamlords Digital\\GwP\\SavedGamesTrash You can restore save-games by moving them from the trash folder back to the SavedGames folder.
  6. The Load Game screen will now allow deleting save-games (including auto-saves).
  7. Fixed bug with the game creating too many auto-save slots.
  8. Fixed bug with the combat system not recognizing when the player equips a different weapon.
  9. Fixed bug with the camera panning at the same time when user is rotating the camera.
  10. Various other fixes to small bugs, typographical errors, and grammar changes.

Content Update #1 Moved by 1-2 Weeks

Greetings Graywalkers. We apologize but we need to move the release of Content Update #1 by another 1-2 weeks at most. There are still a few bugs and issues that we're fixing with the game before we release it. We were not too confident yet with it so we decided to take a little bit more time to work out more of the kinks. We're hoping this will be the last postponement of the content update release.

Not to worry, it's a short wait and we promise you it will be worth it. Again, we apologize and we thank you for being patient.

Content Update Moved to August 21

We wanted to announce that we are moving the release of the new Content Update #1 for Graywalkers Purgatory to August 21, 2020. We felt that we needed to do a bit more testing, balancing and polishing before we get the update in your hands.

Despite the delay though, we are excited to get the game in your hands when it does. The introduction of the Overwatch feature in the game is pretty good and we've even improved it beyond other Overwatch features from other games. Characters can now get abilities that improve their capabilities with regards to overwatch. By default, overwatch triggers when any movement or attack is made by an opponent within range. The new abilities now affect how well you function with or against Overwatch.

Also, we're just polishing and testing the missions we have. We will be including about 10-12 missions with the content update but we have much more ready to follow in the months to come. We are hoping to release 1-2 new missions every month at the minimum after the content update. This brings the mission count to at least 20 missions in the game

In addition, the extra time will allow us to introduce a few more nice small features like an improved Inventory system, highlighting for interactive objects, and some minor improvements that we did not get to mention but have already included.

So we apologize for this delay but we promise it will be worth the wait. Thank you again to all the Graywalkers out there who bought the game and continue to support us.

Thanks again for all of you have bought the game. We are hoping this update will make the game better for you. For those who have not yet bought the game and are sitting on the fence, the content update will be a good time to do so.

GRAYWALKERS PURGATORY CONTENT UPDATE COMING SOON!

CONTENT UPDATE #1 COMING SOON!

After several months since our launch, we are finally releasing our first major content update. This will be significant as it effectively more than doubles the content of the game from when it was released. We have a tentative release date on August 4, 2020, roughly 1.5 months away.

For months we've been releasing small improvements to the game but now this update will change a lot with your gaming experience. Below are just some of the things you can expect from the content update when it releases:

  • More Missions - we wIll be adding a minimum of at least 10 more missions to the game. Take note that this is the minimum and we are hoping to release more than this. Also, after this release, we will slowly stream new missions every few weeks.

  • Additional Preludes - we will be adding a prelude story and just like with missions, we will slowly stream more prelude story every few weeks.

  • Discover More Lore - through the missions and preludes, we will start revealing more about the world of Graywalkers, its Lore, and the different stories of its inhabitants.

  • Deeper RPG & Conversations - we plan to improve the RPG experience, especially the tabletop RPG experience. We now have a new writer to help us work out the dialogues and story of the game giving them more depth and substance.

  • 7-8 New Graywalkers Released - Release of almost 10 new Graywalkers that will now be playable and available in the game. By the time the update releases, you will have a total of at least 15 Graywalkers to work with. Of course, more will be added as well in the months to come as the planned number of Graywalkers is at the very least 36 (Though are target is 40+ so you have replacements just in case your Graywalkers die)

  • Drone Characters - a new addition to the team are Drones as characters. These upgradable drone platforms will be available to fill out your character slots for the various missions. As you progress, you will find better drones and options for those drones. Like any character, you can customize it with specific gear upgrades such as armor, weapons, and accessories.

  • New Enemies - You will face many new dangers in the form of new creatures and enemies that will be available in the game. This includes other types of demons, corrupted creatures, the Faekind, and

  • New Locations - the preludes and the new missions will introduce new and interesting locales such as Hellzones, enchanted ruined cities, stormlands, fortified settlements, abandoned railways and more.

  • More Weapons & Armor - As you get deeper into the game, you will slowly discover the hundreds of weapons in the game and its variants. Not only that, but we've added also new weapons to the list including relics of the past that have power.

  • More Consumable Items & Accessories - we've added more items that you can use in the game that will affect your characters such as potions, drinks, food, medical items, and more. In addition, you can customize your character with new accessories that will improve your character's abilities.

  • Streamlined List of New and Improved Abilities - We've improved the ability list and streamlined it. We've taken out some of the unbalanced ones and included new ones that will give a better dimension to your characters.

Aside from content, we are also releasing new and improved features with the update. These include some of the following below:

  • New & Improved Audio and Music - This was one of our weakest points before but we've made an effort to improve it. We've got new tools to help us create better audio for the game. Also, since we've also fixed the volume issue in our past patches, you can control if you want the music we put in blaring or just blending int the background.

  • Improved Quality of 3D Models - We've heard comments before of bad models in the game so we've taken it into consideration and started removing all the very low poly models and use only the mid to high-quality poly models. We've also improved the PBR texturing of the models. It's not all done yet but you will start to see significant improvements in their quality compared to before.

  • Improved Combat AI - we've improved the AI of the non-player characters, especially the enemies. They are now more challenging and now have more options at their disposal in challenging you.

  • Overwatch Feature - This is a feature that's been planned a long time but had not been implemented. Finally, it will be implemented into the game and it will change how combat goes significantly. It will give you more strategic options in combat as you fight through the challenges ahead.

  • Linux Version - Our Linux version will also be released before or during the content update. This is actually ready but we're trying to test it a bit more before it goes live. Our Mac version is still undergoing finalization and testing so we're not sure if it will be included with this update. Regardless, this will follow very soon though.

Take note that these are not the only things going into the game. We have more planned and if it doesn't reach the content update, it will follow in succeeding minor updates.

Now that you know what's to come, we encourage everybody to grab a copy now for yourself if you don't have one yet and convince your friends and family to do so. We currently have an ongoing summer sale on Steam. Avail yourself of a significant 30% percent discount and grab a copy at a very affordable price.
