Update 02.17.22
Greetings one and all!
This is a quick update to address a couple items in which those of you on the wish may be asking: what happened to the store page?
Basically, due to... an"external issue", the Steam Store page for GotG was temporarily shut down for just about 1 month. We should NOT have an issue like this occur again. The issue has been "resolved" in terms of the Steam page is back up. I will be working diligently to make sure this absolutely does NOT happen again.
Enough on that.
Development Progress: The development of the game was paused for just about 1 month, while working through the issues with Steam. This does cause the release date to be pushed back by at least this amount of time, possible more. Since I've already pushed the date back once from Sept '21 to May '22, pushing back the date will no longer be an option. Instead, there will be an Early Access release once the following items have been completed:
Finishing up drafting (AI and Multiplayer)
Finishing up statistics tracking and presentation
Finishing up Season play
Making sure all this works correctly over the network
Once these items are completed and in a working state, there will be an Early Access release. The time frame for the game to be in Early Access will be approximately 6 months. This time will mainly be used for polish and issue fixes and stress tests. There likely won't be any additional features added during this time unless there is some very compelling feature to add, with the exception of administration tools as they are needed (database, servers, etc). The game will be for the most part, complete.
During the Early Access phase of the release, there can be expected to be bugs and other quirks that will be cleaned up and resolved. The date of the Early Access release is as yet unknown, but if the remaining major tasks can be completed before May '22, the EA release will be at that earlier time.
Finally, the Demo has been taken down. It no longer accurately represents the game in its more completed incarnation, with many changes to the UI and functionality. It is doubtful there will be another demo release.
Thanks for the support and until next time!
Developer Quick Update
Greetings loyal football fans!
A quick update to inform on the progress of data transfers for casual PvP play:
After much trial and tribulation working in the confines of UE4 and Steam networking, transferring datasets directly for play has been completed! This is HUGE good news, as due to the amazing and vast LACK of any useful documentation on how this is achieved, I have reverse engineered enough to do what needs to be done.
In the following several weeks, I anticipate that the same will be completed for the coupe de grace of the League/Franchise play: Online, real-time, team/player drafting within the league.
I anticipate developing this will be even more trying that the simple data transfer, but real-time drafting will be a big part of the GotG experience and thus, needs to be given the same level of persistence and wall banging as ever before.
I am up to the challenge and look forward to delivering the next update, which hopefully will include a completion notice of this module.
And the best part is, after the PvP draft work is completed, I will be able to dedicate myself full-time to bug-hunting and polishing and improvements, which we have a lot of ideas for, well before release.
Thanks for your continued patience and support and see you in the next update!
Developer Quick Update
Just a quick update:
Continuing back-end data work, progress is slow but steady. There has also been quite a bit of UI design and other work related to statistics as well. Here is some sneak peek of what will be offered (note: theming/colors may change)
Developer Quick Update
Just a small update to inform that a huge bulk of work on the dedicated server network framework has been completed. It is not without issues, yet, but the last 5-6 weeks have been fruitful.
Commissioners will be able to run leagues through the dedicated servers unattended. Eventually 'official' servers will be set up as well where players can register into and play in leagues directly against other coaches without necessarily needing to find a league manually.
