Grimmwood: They Come at Night going offline! Thank you all for supporting us!
Dear Grimmwood community
Almost one year ago, our game “Grimmwood: They Come at Night” launched on Steam and we had players from all over the world joining us for an exciting and challenging adventure. Brave men a women that joined forces and worked together towards a common goal, to defend their village from a dark evil that was lurking in the mystical forest just outside their home.
Today is a sad day for us at Headup and Big Moustache Games as we have to inform you that Grimmwood can no longer be bought on Steam or any other store and the game servers will now be deactivated.
We really wish that there was a way for the game to continue but after going through all possible scenarios we see no other option.
We want to thank all of you for your support throughout the past year.
Thank you and kind regards
Headup & Big Moustache Games

Hi there, Fellow Villagers,
The game's free to play for just a 3 more days!
You can help the cause immensely by just spreading the word. For that we'll be forever in debt to you, honestly. Now is the time!
Also, anyone who has played the game for free will be able to buy it at 50% discount till February 4th. So please tell your friends and ANYONE how could be interested. Anywhere - forums, chats, messengers. MAKE SOME NOISE :)
Thank you from the bottoms of our hearts! - The Grimm Team
Server Connectivity Problems
We're currently experiencing server connectivity problems. Working on it to resolve the issue as I write this.
Apologies and thank you for your patience and understanding!

Grimmwood 1.0 released
We did it! Grimmwood 1.0 is available on Steam!
It said that quite a few people start something… but very few finish it. We’re real proud to announce that our first game as a studio is a fact! No in beta, not as early access, but as a fully-fledged online MMO:
It was quite a journey so far, but it was all worth it – the good, the bad and the ugly, all of it. It’s a great feeling and this is only the beginning. So, come and join us in the Village – we’ll gather around the fire and everyone will tell their story of the day. But, mark our words, the journey has just begun. The best is yet to come!
The Open Beta ends tomorrow, August 2nd, at 5pm CET (8am PDT)
Tomorrow is both a happy and a bit of a sad day for us. We really had a blast being together with all of you on the Grimmwood Open Beta. Over 20,000 unique players took part, which is really fantastic for a small indie title!
As of tomorrow, August 2nd, 5pm CET, Grimmwood: They Come at Night will be officially available for purchase on Steam which also means that the Open Beta support will be discontinued.
From the bottom of our hearts - thank you for taking part in the game’s development so far! It’s been quite a journey, hopefully – for both you and us. One thing is for sure – Grimmwood could never become what it is today without you! But the road is still ahead of us – together we can achieve great things. So bear with us – we won’t let you down!
See you in the Village!
Live Twitch Stream - The Road Ahead (Friday, July 27th, 9pm CET)
Tomorrow at 9pm CET we’ll be streaming live on Twitch. The main focus will be our dev plans post launch (August 2nd). We’ll disclose what lies ahead for Grimmwood, sharing as much details as we can. For the first time we’ll talk about the possibility of an end game, single player mode and also a card game spin off. Meet you there!
Grimmwood 0.8.0.0 and Blitz mode coming up today
Villagers,
The next update is coming up today (16-Jul-18) between 13:00 and 14:00 CET, so expect a short server downtime in that interval.
This update is huge, adding a completely different mode (Blitz), a lot of UI improvements and new features like loot drop of monsters and others! We hope that this will offer an enjoyable experience for the players that like the atmosphere and the idea of the game, but dislike the slow paced asynchronous multiplayer. Please let us know what you think once you can check it out - we care for each and every opinion shared.
The change log will be available in the corresponding Discussions thread: https://steamcommunity.com/app/850290/discussions/0/1692669912403067408/
Enjoy!
Twitch live stream - Introducing the Blitz Mode (July 13th, 9pm CET)
Hey there Fellow Villagers!
As you might have already heard – the Blitz Mode is upon us! To introduce the new game mode we’re organizing a live Twitch stream, this Friday night (July 13th,) starting at 9 pm CET ( https://www.twitch.tv/grimmwoodgame ).
The whole BMG team will be playing Blitz Mode in a single Village. Come and see for yourself how seriously can a developer suck at its own game :) We’ll try our best not to disappoint! And of course we will share lots on insight on what’s different in the Blitz Mode and how it should be approached. We’ll also try to answer as many of your questions as we can. So may the Forest Spirits have mercy on our mortal souls…
Steam Stream, Episode 3 – June 22
We’ll start as usual at 21:00 CET.
This time we will talk less of how Grimmwood works from the inside, and more about how it should look… and sound based on our actual dev plans.
Here’s the agenda for tonight:
1. Answering some big questions from your own feedback.
2. Introducing the “Terrain-Scapes” and the idea behind them
This is about the animated stills meant to introduce each terrain type and shown each time you go from one terrain to another on your local map.
3. Introducing the new terrain sound ambiences
We’ll talk more about the basic idea behind it and why these should feel unique each time they are played in-game.
4. Introducing the Grimmwood soundtrack
You’ll have the chance to be the first outside the studio to have a quick taste of the first couple of tracks of the forthcoming exclusive game soundtrack.
Planned Server and Client Update, June 21st
Today, 6:00 pm CET, a planned server and client update will drop the game’s server connection for about 15 minutes. During that time the players won’t be able to access the server and respectively -play the game. We apologize for the inconvenience!
Here’s the change log for the update:
1. Server side
- Fixing issues with the Night Attack not “passing through”;
- Fixing post-Night Attack game lagging issues;
- Implementing new game balance changes.
2. Client Side
- Global Map UI optimization;
- Fixing known UI issues;
- Fixing the bug causing the Search option to not be available;
- Fixing the bug that prevented the Village Daily Report not be available right after a Player’s death during the Night Attack;
