IT'S SPOOKY SEASON!
We're always excited when this time of year rolls around. Jackets, scarves, pumpkin-based-consumerism - Fall brings together two of our favorite vibes: coziness + spookiness.
The good folks living in the town of Hjellhole are no different - be sure to swing by this month to see the Howling Wolf Inn denizens and everyone else living at the base of Grindstone Mountain have decorated their spaces to embrace the spooky season.
This is just one way we're excited to participate in Steam Scream Fest this year, but it's more than just decorations...
OCTOBER COMMUNITY CHALLENGES
Don't forget to swing by Döttie's House each week during October for a new set of challenges to take on as part of the Grindstone community. Harry's made a heap of new hats to reward your efforts. Here's a sneak peek of the challenges + hats coming your way during Spooky Season:
JERKTOBERFEST: Create 50 Creep sausages by grinding a Creep in a meat grinder! Gives Harry's Monster Hat. Starts 6th October
BROKEN BONES: Pop 100 creeps with the Bone Shard Shield. Gives the Classic Skull Hat. Starts 13th October
ALL HALLOW'S EVE: Make all 50 Jack-O-Lanterns take fire damage. Jack-O-Lanterns have a chance of spawning into any level. Gives the Creepy Crawler Hat. Starts 20th October
FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS: Make all 50 Diwali candles take fire damage to light them. Candles have a chance of spawning into any level. Gives the Candlestick Hat (Diwali challenge, you can take this one out of the list if you like). Starts 27th October
NO DAY OF THE DEAD: Destroy 50 tombstones. Gives the Mummy Moptop Hat. Starts 3rd November

The COSMIC DARKSIDE Grindstone Update
The Cosmic Darkside is here!
Grindstone just received a huge new update, and it's sure to challenge the most hardened stonegrinders.
Did you think your journey was over once reaching the summit of Grindstone Mountain? Think again! A meteor from behind the stars will tear open a hole to the Cosmic Darkside - pass through this portal to the Mystic's Realm, where new enemies, new challenges, new items, and 60 cosmic levels await.
(version number is v1.1.29-4284041r, for those looking to confirm their update)
Oh no, it's Osmium!
There's trouble in the Mystic's Cosmic Realm, and it all starts with Osmium!
It's nasty stuff! Once Osmium gets into something, it can cause all kinds of problems. The creeps you're used to slashing through, for example, become a bit tougher - and even worse, they'll eventually burst, spreading new osmium infections nearby! Not even grindstones are safe from infection, so be on guard! Destroying an infected enemy will release a loose chunk of Osmium. Be sure to grab it quickly, before it has a chance to explode and spread even more infection.
Luckily, you can also use Osmium as a resource to craft powerful new gear - you're gonna need it!

How to access
The Cosmic Darkside unlocks after defeating level 200, at the end of the Lost Lair. Shortly after you've done this, a meteor will strike near the town of Hjellhole, at the base of the Mountain.
This meteor opens up a portal into the Mystic's Realm. Simply pass through this portal to access the new levels - good luck!
The Cosmos are Growing...
This is just the beginning of your journey into the Cosmic Darkside! Stay tuned for future updates, as the cosmic infection spreads beyond these initial levels and into new biomes....
