Guile & Glory: Firstborn Version 1.051 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
After this week's substantial mid-week update, we have a relatively small patch for the weekend, but an exciting one nonetheless! This update brings trait tool-tips for player characters, as well as some other small fixes. You can read the details below:
New In This Build:
Player Trait Tool-tips: Mousing over a trait icon on the character panel will now display the trait description. This currently only works for player characters, as it is not currently possible to mouse over enemy trait icons. We are looking into the best ways to display enemy trait information, and we should have a solution soon-ish.
Terrifying Trait: A new aggro trait has been added; Terrifying. Characters with the Terrifying trait have the lowest priority when the AI chooses a target. The two scariest heroes have had their Intimidating trait replaced with Terrifying.
Enraged Savagery Icon Update: A new trait icon has been added for the Enraged Savagery trait.
Nameless Beast Lorebook Clues Update: The lore fragments detailing how to find the Nameless Beast have been updated, and the method should now be clearer.
Nameless Heart Item Description Update: The item description for the Nameless Heart has been updated.
Herald Delve Dialogue Update: The Delve dialogue lines for the Herald have had a small update.
Thank you for reading, and we'll see you in the next update! Until then, may your adventures in the Drowned Lands be glorious!
Guile & Glory: Firstborn Version 1.050 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
We're back with another mid-week update, and this one brings quite a few changes. Normally we try to keep the patch notes as close to spoiler-free as possible, but there's no way around some major spoilers this time. Read on at your peril. You have been warned!
New In This Build:
Abyss Delve Victory Tile Fix: There was a bug causing only three victory tiles to spawn in some Abyss Delve levels, potentially preventing parties of four characters from completing a run. This has now been fixed (or at least, I really hope it has! - Daniel).
True Final Boss Deployment Fix: There was a bug where the deployment tiles were not spawning at the start of the true final boss fight, preventing changes to the default party. This has been fixed.
True Final Boss Glory Readout Fix: The true final boss fight was displaying a Glory reward of 0 on the world map. This has been fixed.
Movement Point Crash Fix: There was a bug that caused the game to crash if a character exceeded 15 available Movement Points. Although unlikely to occur, this could affect some end-game party compositions. The bug has been fixed.
Combat UI Update: The combat UI has been updated to make room for more trait icons in preparation for trait tooltips. Player and enemy characters will now also display their equipped Boon under their name in the combat UI.
Shared Frenzy Update: The Gladiator rework has begun, and the first phase is... a buff. The Shared Frenzy skill now also removes the Stunned and Off-Balance conditions from allies when it triggers. This is the first part of an overhaul to the trait, and the Gladiator Boon as a whole. Don't worry, it will be scaled down to be slightly less ridiculous soon, and other end-game Boons will be getting some upgrades to introduce some more interesting choices to end-game party building.
Herald (Darkbringer): Speaking of end-game Boons, the Herald has just received one of its own. The Herald was pretty underwhelming in post-game content, and this new Boon should more than rectify that. The Darkbringer Boon can only be unlocked by completing the story campaign, and is a nod to the Easter egg at the end of the final cutscene. In addition to the lore ramifications, the Darkbringer Boon is just also really powerful. With it the Herald gains the ability to harm even stone Unborn, the ability to break barriers with its melee attack, and the ability to drain life when it deals damage. Combined with its already formidable set of skills and traits, the Darkbringer Boon turns the Herald into an absolute monster ideally suited to hunting down the true final boss.
Herald Teleport Fix: There was a bug causing the victory conditions to not be checked after the Herald teleported, potentially meaning that all your characters would be standing on victory tiles, but that the victory would not register until you ended your turn. Not a big issue, but still annoying. This is now fixed.
Giant (Giant Lord): The Giant has also received its end-game Boon in the form of the Giant Lord. The Giant Lord Boon is a significant upgrade that grants the Giant a massive health pool, even higher damage on its club smash, and a surprising amount of mobility. The Giant should now feel like a much more useful team member, even on the hardest Delve levels.
Rakshasa Hero Update: The Rakshasa hero is an absolute powerhouse, but its slow attacks and limited action points make it slightly awkward as a solo character when compared to Sahatus, the only other Delve hero to take up three party slots. To make the Rakshasa feel more worthwhile, we have reduced its cost to two party slots, making it much easier to include in late-game Delve parties.
Rakshasa (Great Fiend) Fix: The Rakshasa's end-game boon, the Great Fiend, was displaying incorrect unlock requirements. This has now been fixed.
Misc: Fixed a couple more typos!
That's all for now! We'll see you in the next update. Until then, thank you for reading, and may your adventures in the Drowned Lands be glorious!
Guile & Glory: Firstborn Version 1.040 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
This update brings some more bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. You can find a full list of the changes below:
New In This Build:
Death Frenzy / Shared Frenzy: Fixed a bug where the extra movement and action points granted by the Death Frenzy and Shared Frenzy traits would be lost when resetting a move.
Combat UI: Fixed a bug that made is possible to click on player characters through the combat UI.
Title Screen: Fixed some flickering and layering issues with the grass on the title screen.
Lorebook: Fixed a bug where a rather important Lorebook entry was turning up too early.
Boons: Updated the names of starting boons to (hopefully) make early-game progression a little clearer. Fixed a typo in the descriptions for the Gut Charge skills.
Dialogue: Fixed a couple of typos in the dialogue for Chapter 8.
Rematch I: Fixed a bug where it was possible to double the number of enemies that spawned in Rematch I by skipping the dialogue within the first couple of frames of the level loading.
Up Next:
Final Boss Update: The final boss will be undergoing a revamp at some point in the (relatively) near future, with an eye to making the fight more varied and challenging.
Cloud Saves: Steam Cloud saves should be ready to go pretty soon.
Avenger / Gladiator Rework: We're mostly happy with the Avenger Boon path overall, and probably won't be making any drastic changes, but the Gladiator is much too powerful when compared to other end-game Outlander Boons. The rework will aim to balance the Gladiator, as well as adjusting it to better fit its theme. We will also set the Avenger and Gladiator Boons back to their normal price when the rework goes live.
New Guardian Boons: The Guardian is currently missing her fourth Boon path. We are aiming to add it soon! When we do, it will likely be available at a reduced Glory cost for the first week or so, much like the Avenger.
Combat UI Update: An update is coming for the combat UI, which will make more room for traits, add trait tooltips, and (probably) include some indication of which Boon a character has equipped.
Thank you for reading, and we will see you in the next update! Until then, may your adventures in the Drowned Lands be glorious!
EDIT: Just realized that I missed a couple of entries for the patch notes. Fixed now. - Daniel
Guile & Glory: Firstborn 1.032 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
Just a very minor update to fix the issue with the text for the Shared Frenzy trait, as well as a couple more typos.
Guile & Glory: Firstborn Version 1.030 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
This update isn't part of the normal release schedule, but it is something we've been wanting to add for a while. We're currently taking a look at character progression in Guile & Glory: Firstborn, and considering some changes to the Boon system. No promises on the details yet, but we'll probably be making some tweaks over the next little while.
New In This Build:
Outlander (Avenger): This new Boon path for the Outlander grants the Death Frenzy skill, allowing him to gain additional movement and action points whenever he defeats an enemy. The Avenger Boon will be available at a greatly-reduced Glory price for a short while, as we are eager for people to try it and give us some feedback.
Outlander (Gladiator): The Gladiator is a new endgame boon for the Outlander, unlocking by maxing out the Avenger and Tactician Boon paths. The Gladiator is an extremely powerful Boon that allows the Outlander to grant the Death Frenzy trait to his allies as well. The Gladiator will also be available at a much cheaper Glory price for a short time.
Scoundrel (Accursed): We are currently rethinking the way Boons are unlocked and improved, and we have removed the additional requirements from the Scoundrel's Accursed Boon path for now.
Lorebook - Help Section: We have also fixed a couple of typos in the Help section of the Lorebook.
Known Issues: We are aware of an issue with the text in the description of the Shared Frenzy trait. It should be fixed in the next few hours.
Expect a fix for the text issue in the next few hours, and another small update over the weekend. Until then, may your adventures in the Drowned Lands be glorious!
Guile & Glory: Firstborn Version 1.020 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
Just a small patch this week to update a couple of features. You can find the full list of the changes below:
Battle Menu Tooltips
The in-game battle menus now have tooltips for the various buttons.
Delve Victory Menu
The victory menu for Delves has been updated to be a little clearer.
Chapter 2 - Level 4: The Chase
Chapter 2 - Level 4 has been updated and is now more forgiving overall. The bonus objectives should also be significantly easier to complete.
In The Works
Tooltips for traits should be coming in the next update, and Steam Cloud saves (hopefully) aren't far off!
That's all for this week. We'll see you next time for another update. Until then, may your adventures in the Drowned Lands be glorious!
Guile & Glory: Firstborn Version 1.010 - Patch Notes
Hi Everyone!
As promised, the missing Boons for Delve heroes are live in this patch. All unlockable characters now have some form of progression that should help keep them relevant in late-game and post-game content.
The fourth playable character and every Delve hero can now be upgraded for better stats, new skills and / or new traits, allowing for powerful new party compositions in later-game Delves.
I won't get into the details of all the new Boons here, as I would have to include some spoilers for the roster of playable heroes. You'll just have to unlock the characters and see their upgrades for yourselves!
Happy hunting!
Guile & Glory: Firstborn - Demo Update
Hi Everyone!
With Guile & Glory: Firstborn now out of Early Access, we have just released an update to the demo to bring it in line with the release version. The main changes are to the UI and title screen, but there are a few bug fixes as well.
Guile & Glory: Firstborn - Release Version 1.001
Hi All!
Just fixing that annoying crash in Chapter 7 - Level 3. Nothing else to report for now!
Guile & Glory: Firstborn - Release V 1.00
Hello Everyone!
This is it! Guile & Glory: Firstborn is now complete and out of Steam Early Access! This doesn't necessarily spell the end of development, but all the core features are complete, so it felt like the right time to transition to full release.
State of the Game:
As of right now, the game includes the following content:
45 Story missions
4 Playable heroes
6 Bonus unlockable heroes for Delves
50 Unlockable Lorebook entries
Character Progression
Delves - a randomised dungeon mode spanning 36 floors, 56 combat scenarios and 8 boss fights!
Post-Launch Content:
The core of the game is finished and ready to roll, including all the story missions, as well as optional and post-game content. We do have at least one major update planned as of now, which will bring Steam achievements at the very least, and probably a few more bits and pieces. I'll keep you posted!
Regarding Boons:
A number of the unlockable characters are currently missing their Boons in the release build. Don't panic! We caught a couple of bugs last minute, but the missing Boons will be releasing in a hotfix over the weekend.
A Note on Pricing:
If you've been keeping up with development, you will have noticed that we have gone live, but the price has not increased as expected. That one's on me. I made a mistake setting things up with the launch discount. Long story short, the dreaded price increase is (probably) still coming, but not today! For now, you can get the game at the Early Access price. We'll also be running a small discount in conjunction with PAX Aus Online, so keep an eye out for that over the weekend!
What Comes Next:
Leaving Early Access is a huge milestone for the project, but there will likely be more to do. I expect we'll be releasing a few smaller patches before the achievement update, and DLC or expansion content definitely isn't off the cards. We'll have a lot to talk about in the coming weeks! For now, though, launching a game is a lot of work, and this game dev needs a nap.
