Notice Regarding Network Issue Fixes (Updated: May 11, 2023)
Thank you for your continued interest in Guilty Gear -Strive-. This is Ken Miyauchi, producer of Guilty Gear -Strive-.
We sincerely apologize for the long wait for a solution to the network issues occurring since March. At this time, I would like to share the schedule for release of a patch addressing these issues.
Planned release date: May 25th PT
Contents: ・Fix for an issue preventing players from entering online lobbies and Player Match rooms. ・Fix for an issue preventing players from initiating matches from Duel Stations. ・Fix for an issue involving abnormal ping numbers during online matches. ・Fix for an issue involving the game sometimes crashing when attempting to enter a Player Match room.
Although we would like to get this patch out to all of you as soon as possible, sufficient time for testing is needed to ensure that no additional issues are caused by the many adjustments made not only to the Guilty Gear -Strive- game application but also to the external services involved. We appreciate your understanding despite the continued inconvenience.
The fixes for these errors have had no impact on the scheduled month of release for the upcoming additional character. I ask for your patience until we share more about this release.
Thank you for your continued support for Guilty Gear -Strive-.
Network Mode Issues (Updated: April 21, 2023)
We have confirmed that several issues are currently occurring in the network mode.
Affected Platforms: PS4/PS5/Xbox Series X|S/Xbox One/Steam/Windows
Issue Details:
Frequent network errors and the following issues occurring:
Unable to enter online lobbies or Player Match rooms
Unable to initiate matches from Duel Stations
The following issues causing unintended behavior when a temporary dip in network performance occurs due to packet delay or packet loss in the standard player network environment:
Ping value of the network battle becoming an abnormal value
Game running unstable during network battles
Current Situation: We have confirmed that there are several issues with the external service used for cross-platform support, resulting in problems with certain network communication processes that cause the issues described above. We are currently working with related parties on a patch to address the issues. Resolving the problem, however, requires time due to the need for compounded testing on the Guilty Gear -Strive- application, the external service, and the server.
We will make an announcement regarding the release schedule for the patch at a later date, once preparations are complete. We sincerely apologize for the long period of inconvenience to all of our players.
Some news archive items were taken down on April 5 as a measure to reduce the network connection load. This has made some of the news backlog inaccessible as a result, but this is intended.
Until the network issues are resolved, we ask players to avoid the following. ・Accessing a Duel Station while the "Connecting" icon can be seen in the upper right of the screen. ・Attempting to initiate a match with a player whose avatar displays their battle character overhead but cannot be seen readying their weapon at a Duel Station. ・Attempting to initiate a match with a player whose avatar can be seen readying their weapon at a Duel Station but does not have their battle character displayed overhead.
The following may help when experiencing difficulty with matchmaking either in a lobby or during Training Mode Matching. ・Exit network mode and return to the Main Menu, then enter a different room from the one where the error occurred (sometimes the issue may not be resolved after returning only to the Lobby Select screen). ・Exit and restart the game.
Notice Regarding Ongoing Network Mode Issues
Thank you for your continued interest in Guilty Gear -Strive-.
This is Ken Miyauchi, producer of Guilty Gear -Strive-.
First, we would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the network issues that have been affecting the game. Our team has made it our top priority to identify the cause of the issues and will continue doing our best to resolve them.
Regarding the current situation: We have currently identified the cause of a large impact on the issues with the network mode and are actively working together with related parties on improvements to address the problem.
We have received many inquiries regarding certain network problems believed to be caused by malicious hacking. However, from our current investigation, we have determined there is a high likelihood of an unrelated, not human-induced cause behind these problems. We are currently carefully investigating the situation.
Our direction going forward: Although the exact method is yet to be determined, we are currently working on a patch to address issues caused by the connection processing and to improve certain connection processes. The release timing will be announced once the patch is ready. We appreciate your continued patience.
For more information on any present or future developments, please refer to the Guilty Gear official Twitter account, as well as the official Guilty Gear -Strive- homepage.
Finally, we sincerely apologize for any obscurity in our communication and for the delay regarding our company’s ongoing efforts to address these recent issues with the game and improve online network stability and security. In addition, any and all feedback regarding these and other issues, as well as opinions or requests for improving our games, are always welcome and appreciated.
