Canyon & Workshop Update

All right, it's time for the biggest GunHero update ever! So much hype!

Canyon

The update contains 25 new and challenging canyon-themed levels! The canyon levels unlock in your campaign saves after completing the final boss. If you have already completed it, you can start fighting your way through the canyon immediately. Just beware: this area won't be easy. The bad guys have been dumping toxic waste into the canyon for years, so expect to find large pools of toxic waste, slimes that have evolved from the waste and of course various safety measurements to keep unwanted visitors out from the area.

Workshop

Workshop support is finally here! You can create custom levels using the same level editor that has been used to create the game's campaign, and upload your levels to the Steam Workshop. Others can then play and rate your levels. There is a super slick in-game level browser, so you won't have to leave the game to find new stuff to play.

To help getting started with the level editor, I've written a guide (Finnish version) that should get you familliar with it. I'm also more than happy to answer any questions on the game's discussion page.

Changelog

  • Grenade Aim Preview
  • Full localization to Finnish (Right click on the game in your library, and go to properties to change the language)
  • Various UI improvements
  • Added support for two players on one keyboard (just note that keyboards might not send out enough events for this to work nicely)
  • Various minor bug fixes

Christmas Update

The year is almost over, but there's still time for one GunHero update!

The game now has Discord Rich Presence integration! The current level and game mode plus the time spent in the level are displayed inside Discord, so that all your friends can see that you're already beating the desert boss.

Also, continuing from the theming theme (heh) of the last update, the main menu has a new festive look for the rest of December.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Changelist

  • Added Discord Rich Presence integration
  • Added seasonal Christmas event

Halloween Update

It's the spookies time of the year! And to celebrate, I have prepared a special GunHero update!

I have added a super cool halloween theme to the game's menus. The same theme is used actually in all levels during the special scary season. If you play close attention, you might also notice that some enemies have picked up some headwear.

Speaking of headwear, the game now has 17 awesome hats that you can equip from the settings menu. No annoying lootcrates or collectibles, just pick a hat that you like and move on with your life. My favorites include "Mr. Bigguns" and "Brain Slug".

Changelist

  • Added hats
  • Added seasonal Halloween event
  • Fixed a various minor & majorish bugs

Fight your friends on battle arenas! The update features five battle arenas where you can let off some steam by shooting your friends. You can choose between deathmatch, last player standing and score modes, with each mode offering its own unique battle rules.

The level selection has also been polished.

Changelist:

  • Introduced battle mode
  • Cleaned up level selection
  • Improved weapon hitboxes
  • Improved bomb explosions
  • Added a rain color theme
  • Mouse aiming now accounts for current zoom level
  • Fixed minor memory leaks
  • Fixed coop crashes
  • Fixed jumping on the prison boss
  • Fixed dead players not dropping hostages
