Gunslingers & Zombies Devlog #38 - ”Stars and goals”
Hello Gunslingers!
There’s nothing quite like a feeling of victory. After all winning is so enjoyable and we all like to win… but there’s one thing better than winning – it’s winning in style!
Think about – there are certain moments in your life when you can do bare minimum in order to somehow scrape by. Well, you can even do the least required thing and still win in something but we strongly believe that if one is to do something they should do it as close to perfect as possible. In Gunslingers & Zombies we will have a goal and stars system to check how well did you manage to defend your characters and their cities.
As you can see on the right side of the screen – there are particular goals that you need to be mindful of when playing through a mission. Those goals can be different and only by fulfilling all of them will you be able to achieve the highest possible rating – 3 stars.
If by some unfortunate accident you will not be able to get all of the goals as in the picture above, where we weren’t able to save one of the currently burning buildings, then you will still be able to finish the mission however not with 3 stars. The other possibilities are of course two stars and one star.
Of course you can always repeat the mission to try and achieve that perfect score so make yourself comfortable and aim for the highest possible mark!
”How did that happen?” – do you ask yourself sometimes when witnessing something absolutely out of context and without any explanation? Well, there’s a story behind everything and the same goes for Gunslingers & Zombies.
Ever wondered what is going on in the heads of the characters you will control in the game? They are definitely not without their own thoughts and emotions and as such they absolutely know that they are in a difficult position.
Before every mission you will have a chance to glimpse into their behavior and thoughts through the storyboards – you will witness their little chats, worries and happy moments as the game goes on. Make sure to read those in order to follow their footsteps. Afterall it’s not just a battle – for them it’s their life now!
On the less serious note – ever wondered what must have happened for that zombie below to make her eat a radio? Maybe a particularly annoying podcast or something like that?
As we said – there’s a story behind every action and fact in the world!
Gunslingers & Zombies Devlog #36 - ”Hold on, I’m reloading!”
Hello Gunslingers!
There’s no point to a gun without ammunition and as such there’s no point in ammunition if it’s not in the gun. During the game you will have to always be on the lookout for more ammo!
You might be tempted to unload the rain of bullets on the incoming hordes of zombies but you always need to remember about proper ammunition management in the game. Let’s look at this example.
Everything seems right, doesn’t it? It seems like our guy has a lot of ammunition at his disposal so he should be relatively safe, right? Sure, that’s correct but as you can see in the bottom right corner those 13 bullets is all he has left. After shooting them all he will be left with no way to use his trusty Winbuster.
In this particular situation we can see that we do have some more ammunition to use on the radio-crazed zombie but the ammo needs to be loaded into a gun – and that takes time! Time is a valuable commodity, as they say, and in the time where our hero will reload the gun it is quite possible that the zombie will be able to chomp off his head!
In the end sometimes you will be forced to use a knife and that’s absolutely fine too. Maybe you’re left with no ammunition or maybe you prefer to save a round this turn and fight the green opponent with more conventional means – the decision is yours. Remember to plan ahead the way you are going to use guns and ammunition. You never know when you’ll need it the most.
Have your eyes got accustomed to the horrible and all-encompassing fog of war that tightly hugs the whole map? Yes? That’s great because now we’re gonna talk about the proper war.
War it is. When confronted with masses of living dead a word “war” seems to do justice to the situation our heroes got put in. And as with any war there are some possibilities mastering which might increase your chance of being alive when the dust settles. Let’s look at the possibilities.
Well, obviously, we can shoot, stab and we can do much more to make sure that the zombies will not rise up again. This one is a given, however you always need to make sure that you are not bringing a knife to pistol fight. Select your weapons wisely.
You are sure to be surrounded in next few moments? Oh boy… If that’s the case maybe it’s better to focus on the defense, you know, instead of attacking? Sure, they do say that the best defense is an offense, but we would rather stay alive and with all parts attached, aren’t we, partner?
Team players are those who survive the most, provided they also have team players around them. If you see your buddy almost saying hello to the grim reaper – toss him a bandage, will ya? Or just take care of your own injuries, whatever lets you sip your whisky easier, I won’t judge.
Mastering all of these choices and choosing wisely will definitely add years to your life, trust me.
Have you ever experienced fog so thick that you were unable to see at all and couldn’t believe your own eyes? Well… If not consider yourself lucky as fog can hide many secrets…
One of the most important features of Gunslingers & Zombies will be “Fog of War”. Characters you control will be only able to see so far in the distance and anything further away will be covered by ominous fog…
You will have to explore by yourself to see whether you’ll be able to find allies and help in that fog or something else completely... As such it always will be an adventure to venture into unknown and you will have to plan carefully for any possibility.
Today we are going to talk a little bit about a something that every great game should have - tutorials!
As you might imagine Gunslingers and Zombies will also have a tutorial and you shouldn't be surprised to hear that it will play a big part in mastering the game mechanics and rules!
Some of the tips that tutorial will present you might be very basic but they are still very important in order to do well within the game and to ensure that your gunslingers will stay healthy.
Other information however will be crucial for you as it will outline some of the most important game mechanics and ideas.

Hello Gunslingers! 🤠
As you know, Gunslinger and Zombies is a turn-based strategic game, so every move you make must be carefully thought out. It is important to choose the right strategy for the environment you are playing and the opponents you see.
What are your favorite turn-based games similar to gunslinger and zombies?
Each map will have a "zombie spawn" where the undead will keep appearing until the place is destroyed. In addition to points, we will have information for how many turns the new wave will appear or how many units will appear.
