It took me a long time, but your support and voice motivated me to finish this task - now all 23 achievements are tested and available by playing the campaign and Roguelike mode!

The good news doesn't end here

Making games as solo-dev is hard and after more than a year of Early access I burnt out, So the GwenBlade as you see today and back on full release is not what I wanted to make, but a version with cut corners.

So I decided to add new things in the following update, What I assure you will be added is

  • New abilities (such as double jump)
  • Ending scenes for every patient
  • More dialogues
  • Quality of life changes

FeedbackUpdate - StoryFixes

Fixed story related things that affects saving progress.


  • Fixed dialogue not appearing after third level of Debora
  • Fixed not updating results after second level of Julia
  • Fixed not appearing list of patients after second level of Hao


I can only thank and apologize to the community that vocalize their feedback and allowed me to make this game even better. I'm trully sorry that your personal experience was corrupted by those instances

In fututre

There are coming Acheviements and 60fps lock in single update
After them there would be new biome added to the game(in a span of 1-2 months)

You may see right now a different achivements in Steam for GwenBlade, however, they CAN'T BE UNLOCKED.

It will be this way for next 3-5 days, and there will be game update that will add new dialogues and ways of getting achivements.

FeedBack Update^^~

Big shotout to Ian Mitchell from GwenBlade's discord server. Most of the changes were done because of his incredible feedback^^~ Thank you so much Ian!

Fixes




  • Weapon substats are reworked!

    Substats are Speed, Radius, CritChance and CritRate and previously they were set randomly.
    This means that when you getting new weapon it can have lower substat and because of that useless. Although rough Damage would always higher

    Now it's remade and new system always make 2 substat better and 2 substat worse.

  • Knife are fixed and give bonus +10% to your attack (so 5 knifes is +50%)
  • Execution now work at greater radius and if you see F on enemy you will definetely execute him
  • bug with roguelike mode that will boot you the menu after 12th floor is fixed. For those who don't know after 12th floor there is new biome
  • I'm planning to retexture some enemies to make thier looks more distinct, but for now i just make healthbars always visible and target icon more flashy


New Features




  • Note are needed to execute enemies and to teleport to them(with upgrade in the shop)
  • teleport now have built in 1 second of i-frames and also demolish enemy's armour. So basically you can take off shield and 50% of health by pressing to buttons, but it cost you 2 notes
  • V-sync added to settings


There is some criticism that hasn't been addressed like ControllerSupport, Tutorial system and other things. Some issues will be fixed in the next update, however it will be mostly concentrated on new content like levels, dialogues and cutscenes.

HUGE MECHANIC AND STORY UPDATE

Story content



Julia





New level For Julia were added and half of the level is presented with new perspective that was available on some of the Roguelite levels.



And also with parts that needed to be done with wallrun

Debora





Debora also get a level and also a new dialogues

Story Structue



After every session Jane takes a ride to home. At night in a dream you presented with the ability to make yourself stronger by buying upgrades.



And after that she awakes goes to her job and choose which patient would have a session this day.



This way you have a downtime betweeen light-paced fights and a room to upgrade character. Also a shops that were introduced in Roguelite are in story mode too - find them!

Mechanics



  • Now motivation is reworked and no longer works as a shield and instead is used as resource for dodging.
  • Added new feature to aim manually by holding right mouse button. In that mode, you will by pressing left mouse button. Projectiles in this mode would go through the enemies, damaging everyone they meet, and if you use shooting with target lock them projectile will destroy by damaging only one enemy
  • Spells no longer in need on notes and ready right after cooldown. Notes will serve different purposes in the next update.

I hope to make next update in the near future by adding new weapons, levels and dialogues

Originally i'd intended to release the game in September, and now it's a whole year of Early Access. I can't say for sure when GwenBlade will be ready but i'm still aiming at polished great project that makes people happy^^~

Campaign hotfix

After first boss fight in the end of first Debora's session there is a cutscene, and because of the bug there were 2 Deboras in that scene.
And after that cutscene there wasn't a new level and just main menu

Both problems are now fixed, so thank you for your feedback! Let's enjoy campaign levels^^~

New Biome Update!

New Biome



Climb higher and higher to fight Sorrow boss and be released from the nightmare.
In New Biome called "Taking Control" you will experience a new spin on GwenBlade's formula. Whole Biome is one level that procedurally generates with Corridors, Arenas, Shops and optional Boss Battles.



Now you can't choose your reward for every encounter, and instead you gain Happiness that you can spend on Upgrades.

For this update only this biome will be starting Biome so you can try it right away. In the next Update it will be put in the second one, as it was initially intended.

Also, every level (all 19th of them) from the first Biome were recolored to look more like the one Biome.

New boss and music theme for boss battles



Guilt boss from the last story update is now in Roguelite mode! It placed in the end of the new Biome and ready to be fight with! In the next update it will go to the 12th floor of the first Biome.

So Pressure bossfight it's now on 24st floor and Distrust is moved on 36th floor. It means that there are new, 12 encounters were added! But can you reach that far?

And all three bosses have a new music theme that emphasizes how far you've come. It sounds dramatic, pressuring but with a little glimpse of hope - i'll love it!

Future



I am planning on redesign enemy looks and AIs to make their idea more clear - every enemy emphasizes different negative emotion.

Also adding new rewards for "Taking Control Biome" so it would make things more spicy. For example new weapons and abilities that you can unlock only in this biome and nowhere else.

And after the Next Update will be Story update with new level. Right now i'm not sure with character it will be - most likely Debora.

Crucial Story Update



Play second part of Debora's story to Defeat a new powerful boss Guilty!



Every piece of dialogue was rewritten to sound more human and convey information better.

Deckard scene was removed from the scenario and the replacement is meeting with Adrian - Jane's best friend.



There would be few small rapid updates in this week - stay tuned^^~

Story Update #2 Julia

Story Content



5 scenes added to the Game that explore world and characters of GwenBlade. And 3 of them dedicated to Julia a new mysterious Character



She is heartbroken and hopeless, closed from everyone and maybe, just maybe you can help her.
Try to light up, show hope.



Julia's Soul - a lonely island in lightless night, just in a center of vast dark ocean.

Mechanics



Roguelite and Campaign now has a different memory slots

New Mechanic added - a Self rating! It goes up when dealing damage and defeating foes. It's increases amount of happiness that you receive

Now range weapons don't consume notes to shoot

Abilities don't consume motivation, but notes instead. Cooldown time for abilities is now increased.

Basic enemies can drop weapons with a miniscule chance of 1% (as a reminder - bosses and minibosses drop weapons with a 100% chance)

After death enemy has a 50% chance to drop a note

Block is removed from the game - Now Jane blocks passively if she has motivation

In the end of the campaign, there is an announcement for a new update with a date - be sure to check it out!

Halloween Costume and Combat Update^^~

Costumes





Witch is Jane's Helloween costume form previous year. It was made with help from her Debora, that you save in introduction of Campaign. You will get to know her better in future Updates.



Rogue costume is based on Gwenever - Jane's DnD character.

Costumes will be completely free for this Update, and later become purchasable in the game (for misery like other powerups between runs). The reason why they not selling now is there is no gameplay benefit from them. In the next Update with every costume there would be an artifact that you can wear. More About it Later^^~

Combat



New attack animations both for Sword and Scythe weapons to make your combat more flashy and impactful.
New mechanic - Charge attack. Now you can charge a button to make a more powerful attack with your melee weapon.

Range weapons were rebuilt. Now the main focus of range weapons, it's drain enemy's defense, so your melee attacks will deal more damage.
Now Bow has 3 different animations to wear down enemies in convincing fashion.
BlunderTrombone (ShotGun) was reworked and now shots 6 projectiles with random spread, This shots summary damage more than Bow, but destroys on contact. So Shotgun is better at single target.

Breaking infusion is removed from the game. All it's feature now work in range Wepons.

Wind Infusion! New infusion that proc previous infusion. For example, if previous infusion on the enemy was Doom, than by hitting in with wind, doom will proc again.

Fixes



Invisible cabel was fixed and now he is renders just fine.
Gravity in attacks were reworked. In previous Update it was possible just to fly in the air by attacking, Now gravity forces are stronger put you on the ground faster.

Future



Next Update will be called Witchcraft Update and will greatly expand on ability system, both adding new abilities and making their obtain more meaningful.
