10/16/2017 #1 - Configurable Reload Styles

Game Variant Options

This latest update adds a new option to the game variant menu:

  • [Weapons] Reload Style

This will change the way players reload weapons in the game. There are 4 options:

  • Manual (Default)
Click grip to dispense magazine, click other grip to eject magazine, insert magazine.

  • Auto Eject
This is the same as manual, but ejection happens automatically when the new magazine is inserted.

  • Touch
Touch your weapon hand to the ammo box to automatically reload the weapon. Grip button only equips/drops weapons.

  • Button
Tap the grip button to automatically reload a weapon. The ammo box is not needed.

This might not be a permanent feature as it may make jumping into games unbearably confusing, but I'm interested to see what works best. Feel free to discuss the merits of any of these reload styles in the forums.

Player Options

  • Rear Ammo Box
This will simply put your ammo box in the back instead of the front. It's slightly more difficult to find with your hand in this configuration, but it allows you to see straight down.

Bugfixes/Improvements

  • Ammo counters now swap correctly when you swap hands
  • Fixed some player options not getting propagated to a live player
  • Disabled the ability to dispense a magazine to both hands
  • Disabled the ability to equip dropped magazines (dropped magazines will automatically return to your ammo box)
  • Capture the Flag options are hidden correctly when game mode hasn't changed

Update 10/5/2017 #2 - Thruster Improvements

This latest update changes the way thrusters function and adds 2 options to game variants to tweak them:

<*> [Player] Thrust Speed
<*> [Player] Thrust Duration

Previously, thruster speed was defined by sprint speed and airborne velocity was also limited to the max sprint speed. Thrust speed can now be set separately from sprint speed and there is no limit to how fast you can move using thrusters. Default thrust speed is equal to gravity, which allows for high jumps and hovering but does not allow the player to gain altitude when falling.

Thrust duration defines how long a player can use the thrusters before they shut off. It defaults to 10 seconds, and the timer is reset only when the player touches the ground. It can now be tweaked with a percentage multiplier, or set to infinity.

Check it out, and feel free to discuss further changes in the forums.

Update 10/5/2017 - Multiplayer Mobs

This latest update adds configurable mobs to multiplayer. I've added 4 new game variant options to facilitate this:

<*> [Bots] Mobs Enabled
<*> [Bots] Max Mob Count
<*> [Bots] Mob Spawn Frequency
<*> [Scoring] Mob Kill Score

If mobs are enabled, mob emitters will appear at various locations on the map and spit out alien parasites periodically. Frequency defaults to 1 second, meaning 1 emitter spawns a mob every 1 second. When the max mob count is reached, they will stop spawning until some die off. The default max is 20, you may experience frame rate issues if you push this value any higher than that.

Check it out!

Improvements

<*> Parasites are now significantly smarter
<*> Parasites have been significantly optimized so more can exist safely
<*> Player bot path finding has been improved to allow bots to react more quickly to a nearby enemy

Bugfixes

<*> Sticky grenades can now be thrown properly
<*> Fixed crash when saving a new game variant
