Heir of the Dog Kickstarter pre-launch page now LIVE!
🎉 Heir of the Dog Kickstarter pre-launch page live!
I've finally got myself organised and published the pre-launch Kickstarter page for Heir of the Dog. I'm planning to launch the campaign later this year, but there will most likely be some early bird rewards, so make sure you hit the "Notify me on launch" button to be notified the instant the campaign goes live!
I've got loads of cool ideas for both in-game and physical rewards, including chances for backers to appear in the game itself, and (of course) a big box to sit proudly on the shelf next to Lucy Dreaming. On that note, I am also hoping to provide a reward bundle which includes the big box of Heir of the Dog as well as a new re-print of the Lucy Dreaming big box with its final, gorgeous artwork.
Want a behind-the-scenes glimpse of how I create the artwork for my games? I'll be going live on Twitch today at 12.30pm (UK time) to continue my series of art and dev streams for documenting the progress of my new game, Heir of the Dog, (available to wishlist now).
Cummerbund Bandersnatch gets his own full length point & click adventure
You asked and we listened.
After a staggering 50,000 downloads of Hair of the Dog (our game jam submission built in just 12 days), we are delighted to announce that a full length Cummerbund Bandersnatch adventure is in the making.
Inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Heir of the Dog takes you on a riotous romp through the dark streets and back alleys of Victorian London, where you’ll discover talking lice, cannibalism, a secret society and rather a lot of dogs.
The demo, an updated version of Hair of the Dog, with new graphics and improved gameplay is available to play now, and don't forget to wishlist the full game to be the first to hear about release.
Introducing: Heir of the Dog
Hair of the Dog was a short adventure game I created for AdvXJam back in 2020. It was created in twelve days, so was a little rough around the edges, but pipped Lucy Dreaming to the post as the first game I ever released on Steam. In that respect it was a great test-run, paving the way for Lucy two years later.
Hair of the Dog has enjoyed over 25,000 downloads on various platforms since it was released, and I have received hundreds of messages and reviews from people all over the world requesting a full length version.
Heir of the Dog will return to the fog-covered streets of Victorian London to expand on the life of Cummerbund Bandersnatch and his curious condition.
Demo coming soon!
The demo is tantalisingly almost finished, with the voices being recorded as I type, but that shouldn't stop anyone from adding it to their wishlist (we all know how the Steam algorithm loves a wishlist!)
The demo is predominantly a recreation of the original Game Jam game from 2020 so, if you've played it before, the majority of the puzzles and dialogue will be familiar to you, but I have applied everything I learned whilst developing Lucy Dreaming in terms of the improved UI, controller support and artwork. So, even if you have met Cummerbund before, why not clear the fog with a stroll down Memory Lane when the demo is released.
Lucy Dreaming is a hilarious, surreal point & click adventure with a script inspired by British comedies like Monty Python, Blackadder and Red Dwarf. You play as Lucy, a young girl with a sharp, sarcastic wit, on a quest to unearth the truth behind her recurring nightmare.
A unique mechanic allows players to control Lucy's dreams and enter her subconscious. A rabbit hole laced with intrigue, hidden memories and a cast of weird & wonderful characters. The game's world opens up as it progresses, unlocking new real-word locations like the traditional British pub and the town's suspiciously demonic library, as well as numerous dreamworlds to explore. Along the way you'll meet giant crabs, trolls, talking plants and a large duck with a bread problem as you solve a decade-old murder case and discover a dark secret from Lucy's past.
The game's beautifully drawn pixel art invokes a nostalgic feel, whilst modern UI features like a hotspot finder, to-do list and double-click instant scene exit provide a smooth gameplay experience. The amount of detail and custom responses in each scene will delight inquisitive players with easter eggs and more quips than you can point a cursor at.
