Hotfix & QoL Update

Hey everyone,

We just pushed a small hotfix & Quality of Life update to HARD BULLET with the feedback from you all.


  • Menu UI Adjustments: The Menu Call Circle no longer appears during regular magazine ejections. It will now show after a brief delay, with the same appearance time as before.
  • Explosives Fix: The Big Oil Barrel now properly deals damage to enemies. 💥
  • Slow Motion Jump Tip: Added SlowMo Jump information to Player Settings.

New Player Body: Movement, Hands, Leaning. Updated Slow Motion Jump.

Hey everyone, we are back with another new update! We have successfully completed the Public Beta stage for this one - so thank you so much for all the feedback!

Without further ado, let's jump into the details!


Updated Player Body


🖐Hand Drift Eliminated


We’ve finally eliminated the annoying hand-drifting issue that used to happen whenever players changed movement direction. It might even mess with aiming and shooting.

The new Player Body is much more stable, and we’ve added a few extra tweaks to improve overall hand movement for a smoother experience.

OLD HANDS WITH NOTICABLE MOVEMENT WHEN CHANGING DIRECTION:


NEW STEADY HANDS:


Leaning and Peeking



New Body, New Possibilities! You can now lean over objects and peek around corners in arenas! This not only adds more strategic depth but also makes interactions with objects feel smoother and more intuitive.

📝How It Works:



  • Leaning happens naturally as you move in your real-world space.
  • Your in-game body adjusts to your head position only after you press the Movement Stick.

You can disable Body Leaning in Player Settings.

Movement Overhaul




We've reworked how the player moves through arenas by adding acceleration and even some body drifting, making movements feel heavier and more realistic.

This change brings a more natural flow to navigation, enhancing both immersion and control!


Slow Motion Jump




Reworked slow motion during jumps to make it more cinematic and give you extra time to admire your shots. Long press Jump to rise into the air and put the world into even more slowed-down state, letting you unleash deadly shots and watch enemies fall in full detail.

Added a time limit for this powerful jump — extra slow motion during jump now lasts for 3.5 seconds or until you land.

You can disable Slow Motion Jump in Player Settings.


Main Menu Access




New Main Menu access method with no need to use controller’s Menu Button. Now you can hold the Eject Magazine button a bit longer to open the Main Menu. To close it, just tap Eject Mag again.

🔹 Why this change?



  • Prevents accidental menu openings during fast dual-wield reloads.
  • Different controllers and Streaming Apps may use the default Menu button.
  • No need to press both buttons anymore — just any Eject Mag button will do.

Other Bugfixes & Improvements



  • Optimized Performance – Bullets and explosives now use raycasting for better efficiency.
  • Snake Charmer — Limb Kill achivement fixed.
  • Enemy Spawning Fix – Resolved remaining issues that could prevent enemies from spawning during RIDE.
  • Black Suit Bug Fix – Fixed a problem where switching between Full-Body and Hands-Only mode could cause hand models to disappear.

Public Beta: Testing New Player Movement

What do we need to test?


🖐 Hand Stability While Moving


We've reworked the player body setup, including hands! While some aspects are still being fine-tuned, we’ve finally eliminated the annoying hand jumping that could mess with aiming and shooting.

🏃 Running, Strafing & Movement Flow



The new body system brings cool interactions like leaning over surfaces and pushing off walls, but the main focus, for now, is movement — how natural and responsive it feels while navigating arenas.

🔹 No need to test slow-motion movement just yet! That will come later.

Right now, the focus is on how weapons handle while moving and how fluid it feels to navigate arenas during combat.

Best practices:



To ensure the smoothest experience during testing, we recommend adjusting a few Player Settings:

Turn Off Player Body – The player body isn’t fully tuned for the new setup yet and might be distracting.
Set Movement to "Always Run" – This will help us stress-test extreme speeds and turns.



Phase I — Starts Today!


We're testing extreme and common movement scenarios in these three arenas:

  • Basement – Lots of stairs and sharp 90° turns
  • Warehouse – Similar 90° turns for testing precision
  • Deathbox Sandbox – An open space filled with deadly toys and physics objects

Phase II


After gathering feedback, we'll update the Beta Version with all other arenas and refine the movement system based on player input if needed.

How to Opt-In


⚠️ ACCESS: Right-click HARD BULLET in your Steam library, then select ‘Properties’. In the new window, select ‘Betas’ and choose there “Public Beta”. The new game version will start downloading immediately.

Regarding SteamVR Quest Streaming Configuration

Hey people!

We wanted to share quick tips & tricks for SteamVR Streaming issues that could be helpful for you, mostly about lagging when multiple enemies are nearby and instant frame drops/freezings. which we only see when the game is not started properly according to the current OpenXR settings.

We have seen this issue raised on Discord and Steam Reviews so we wanted to take a moment to help you out with configuring your settings properly to use Meta Quest Link with HARD BULLET. These issues mostly happen because of the mismatch of the Runtime settings.

How to properly configure your OpenXR Settings?



1️⃣ Make sure that your current OpenXR Runtime is set to Oculus, instead of SteamVR for this tip. You can find this tab by launching SteamVR on Steam and going through Settings.



2️⃣ Open the Meta Quest Link app on your PC and go to Settings. On the General tab, your OpenXR Runtime should be Meta Quest Link.



3️⃣ Launch the game directly from the headset - instead of launching the SteamVR app first. This will help with most of the lag issues related to the mismatching of SteamVR Runtime and how you start the game. Because we set the Runtime to Oculus in the first step, launching the SteamVR app will raise mismatch problems.

Virtual Desktop Players



⚠️If you are using Virtual Desktop, we advise you to use Steam Link or Meta Quest Link for the best performance. But if you would like to keep using it, you don't have to make the changes above! Virtual Desktop automatically changes your Runtime to SteamVR when you launch the game.

2024 Updates Recap, Teasing Fresh Quest 3/3S Footage, 2025 Plans

Hey everyone!



Are we late to the recap party yet? No? Can we still share some insight? COOL!



2024 was a wild one for us, with lots of updates and learnings along the way! We couldn't be any prouder than we are right now, with all the love from you all! HARD BULLET came a long way as well, now that we are going into the fifth year! 5 YEARS, isn't that great?! Sometimes, we can't even believe it ourselves. 👀

So what have we worked on during 2024? Here is a quick recap:


Whoa, that was a wild RIDE indeed! 🎢 And it's all because of you - our passionate community. Even more exciting stuff is coming in 2025 - hold tight in there!

🆕What's next for HARD BULLET in 2025?



The biggest milestone for us right now is the Quest 3/3s release, and we’re making great progress every day. Our goal is to bring the full functionality of the PC version to Quest while polishing the mechanics to deliver the best possible experience.

Since 2020, Hard Bullet has grown and evolved tremendously, thanks to the incredible support and creativity of our community. Together, we’ve built a game with a solid concept, unique features, and a clear path toward version 1.0, including the highly anticipated Story/Roguelite mode.

With that in mind, we’re committed to making the Quest version feel like a complete, high-quality release — not an early-access title. While some elements like certain physics objects or the extensive variety of firearms might not make it in on day one, we’re ensuring that the core brutality, physics, and fun are all there.

Our strategy is to deliver a polished, visually stunning, and brutal experience to Quest players, gradually bringing it closer to the PC version with updates. Major features like improved AI and the Story/Roguelite mode will roll out later this year, making the game even better across all platforms.

We’re excited to bring Hard Bullet to Quest and make it the best it can be — thank you for being part of this journey!

Removed all launch options, SteamVR Quest Streaming Fixes

Simplified Launch System


To address the launch issues faced by users with various streaming apps (Quest Link, Steam Link, Virtual Desktop) and reduce confusion from multiple startup options, we’ve streamlined the process to match the current VR headset market more effectively.

Now, you can simply use your preferred streaming app. The game will automatically launch based on your chosen app — no extra steps needed!

For anyone who wants to replay New Year event, you'll find it among others in the Betas.

Notice: we changed Steam Launch options today so if you are running the game with native Meta streaming, you'll need to add -oculus to game launch options in Steam app.

To correctly run older versions on Quest without SteamVR, add -oculus to game launch parameters.
