It's been a while since we shared something about the progress of HEART ABYSS development, and meanwhile, the development is in full swing.
News about the demo
The demo we've been promising you for a long time is finally ready. Now, we are finalizing the art for it so that the levels will be a real visual feast, then we will send it to tests, and after that, we will share it with you. Expect the demo on Steam, there's not much left.
Engine Change
We're moving! HEART ABYSS was originally developed on Godot 3.5, which, despite all its pros, often hindered the development. So we made the hard decision to move the project to Godot 4.
Fortunately, it turned out to be easier than we had thought. Although there are still a lot of bugs to be fixed, we've made great progress in a short time. Although the demo will still come out on Godot 3.5 so we don't have to postpone the demo again.
Some more about the Mines level
We are still working on the level design of the Mine's level. Besides that, we are already thinking about the next level.
New enemy!
There is one more new enemy in the game — an Exploder!
Mines have no shortage of dynamite and things that can be blown up, so we couldn't help but create an enemy that will utilize these features. The Exploder is a ranged enemy. He throws bombs at Leon that explode with a delay.

New mechanics, new enemy, and new level!
Hello everyone!
The team is hard at work crafting HEART ABYSS into a masterful Metroidvania game, and we're ready to share some of the upcoming changes with you.
Firstly, we've almost finished work on the new demo, which will soon be available on Steam. We have completely redesigned the first level, "Masta's Mansion," which is the primary setting of the demo.
We've also added area mechanics to the game. Now, when Leon is locked in a room, players will have to defeat waves of enemies to escape it. We hope you enjoy it and we can't wait to read your reviews and watch your streams.
And now for the other developments and changes.
New mechanic - Electricity
We've added an electricity mechanic to Heart Abyss. You'll see electrified water spills appear on different levels.
Any character who is affected by the skill will take damage, which includes both Leon and his enemies. You'll be able to experiment with the electricity mechanics and use them to your advantage.
New Level - Mines
After polishing the prologue, we're finally moving on to developing the next level: the Mines.
These are the first sketches for the mines. What do you think of them? Should we add more elements to them? Please let us know in the comments below.
New enemy - Hammerman
Just like the first boss, the Hammerman can attack Leon with electricity. You'll have to use talent and dexterity to dodge his blows.
We've also realized that we didn't give enough details about Leon's story and his motivations, so we added a new introduction and new characters that will flesh out his tale.
There's still a lot of work ahead of us, but we're ready to tackle even the most usual of ideas. Please support Heart Abyss by adding the game to your Wishlist, and joining our Discord. See you in the next update!

Updated almost all the art, added healing, and an execution system
Hello everyone!
Development of Heart Abyss is in full swing, and we've made some exciting progress that we'll share with you today.
Firstly, we've updated the art style for most of the backgrounds so they better reflect the gloomy and dark style of the game. And we've also eliminated all the placeholder and temporary graphics.
The "Fox Rage" system was added, which allows Leon to heal himself and kill several enemies during battle.
The rage meter below the health bar will indicate how many kills Leon will need to make to regain 1 health point. We hope this will encourage players to jump into the fray.
We've added an execution system. Once you have performed enough combos without taking damage, you can perform a brutal attack with the E button. An execution grants you three rage points at a time.
There are also slight improvements to the appearance and gameplay of the boss, the fighter with a naginata and the thrower, which we told you about in the previous post.
Finally, we've also translated the game into English!
Like and leave a comment about the new artwork and gameplay features! Your support inspires us to keep creating.

New villains in the game: thrower, warrior with a naginata and chief of guards
Hello everyone!
We are starting a regular series about the progress of the Heart Abyss development.
Lately, we've been focussed on qualitative gameplay changes. In particular, we continue to improve the spectacular kills and dash strikes system.
In addition, we've drawn sprites and animations for brand new enemies, as well as the first boss, who you'll meet at the end of the prologue.
This is Kazuo Iwamoto, the head of security at the mansion where the protagonist is being kept. He is a formidable fighter, referred to as "Spring Storm" among the mansion's warriors, who does not hesitate to use a gunpowder gun. Rumors say he can harness the power of lightning, but no man is brave enough to test his abilities.
One of the new enemies is a skilled fighter wielding a naginata, a Japanese pole weapon up to 1.5 meters long. With proper training, he can deflect arrows flying at him.
The Shadow Warriors are willing to take on the role of guard if offered a generous fee. Anyone attempting to break through will be met with kunai and powder bombs thrown at them.
What do you think of the new characters? Please share your impressions in the comments below.
We are also working on a brand new demo of Heart Abyss, which will contain the full prologue, all new enemies, and the first boss. We know that you can't wait to play it, so we'll release it as soon as possible.
