Minor update: ruins and fast travel improvements

Minor update this time, all for space sailors. The big features are:

- Ruins!: you can now stop at a ruin even if the characters are talking
- Improved fast travel - Six will now take you *all* the way to any moon you've visited before

Along with some smaller things:

- more robust map UI for selecting and charting courses to ruins
- faster dialogue handing the tiller to Six

... alongside the usual collection of minor story fixes, typos, and tweaks.

Meanwhile, here's Giant Bomb spoilering the first hour (but when you play, all the translations, finds and dialogue will be different, because every game is unique):

Happy adventuring!

Translation Gameplay Upgrade

Today's update to Heaven's Vault focuses on translation, bringing with it two great features:

* Improved Timeline UI - dedicated filters in the timeline for finding different types of inscriptions, including a new filter for "Solvable Inscriptions" - translations which are ready to be progressed, or completed.

* Improved Huang - Huang can now help you break up complex strings into sub-words, so you can crack the longer, more juicy phrases in the game.

We've also added even more lines for the gigantic book, alongside the usual raft of polishes, tweaks, jokes, extra bits of lore and secrets.

Enjoy!

Minor patch

We've pushed a quick update to the game today: fixing a bug which was preventing the story-line that results in the Reunion achievement from triggering. Thanks to the players who helped us track that one down.

Meanwhile, here's a review in UK magazine Wireframe:

"Look at Vault’s sheer scale; its whole timeline is filled with events both past and present, and wealth of language fragments so big you will want to keep building your vocabulary beyond a single playthrough into the New Game Plus mode. Aliyah and Six can talk about anything and everything, if you choose to, and with everything discovered, you build the picture of a living, breathing world – one you just want to see more of."

Enjoy!

New Patch!

The latest patch is almost here! This one is all about better cameras, alongside some fixes to the story. Thanks to everyone who got their story into weird, complicated states.

Meanwhile, here's a lovely write-up in Wired and Yogscast's Sjin roleplaying as a massive jerk.

We've also added a rather lovely Easter egg for fans of the Great Loop.

Enjoy!

Fast travel added to The Nebula!

We've been listening carefully to feedback since the release on Tuesday, and have just released an update:

  • Fast travel option in The Nebula added
  • Search zones easier to navigate on map
  • Six no longer misdirects you (oops)
  • A small number of people have managed to get stuck outside levels as well, and that has been fixed too.

Happy Deciphering!

Awesome video review: 8 minutes but it gets to the heart of it straight away.

The first reviews are in!

It's release day and the first reviews are in! Eurogamer has a thoughtful review, which talks about how intricate the story is - "As a player I felt both autonomous and well-cared for. I could play the game as I saw fit in any moment, but whatever I did, the overall story refused to become an ugly, artless blob formed by my actions":

Over on PC Gamer, they describe the game as "Exquisite" saying "Heaven's Vault does a beautiful job of letting you unlock a language, and thus a dialogue of sorts, with the past, via a wonderfully engaging protagonist."

TechRaptor says: "This is an absolutely beautiful game that manages to succeed at something genuinely unique and interesting. It also does something many of the best adventure games do. It makes me want to spend more time in its world, as Heaven’s Vault is well worth my time. These are characters I want to talk to, Ancient is a language I want to learn, and Heaven’s Vault is a game I want to replay."
