The game DOES feature Mairoid as well as familiar enemies from Hectic Void!





Mairoid in specifc will have a major role within the story of Super Squash.


What is Super Squash?



Super Squash is a top-down Shoot 'Em Up arcade game which features multiple playable characters who must all unite together to stop the unrelenting hordes of enemies and bosses.

The story consists of this: Every universe of Barlock Games is under attack by a being that's quite powerful and massive. Every character considered a hero throughout all the universes must band together and put a stop to this. Every character, enemy and location created prior from Barlock Games will be featured in Super Squash. This is the legacy of Barlock Games' 10 years.



Both Hectic Void and Super Squash are also currently on sale!

Hectic Void DRM Free + Hectic (Original) News + Barlock Squash

To start things off, Hectic Void can now be purchased DRM Free via Itch.io!




I know there are some who prefer to have their games DRM Free so in that case, you now have the option. Check it out here!



Second, Hectic (Original) is now available to play for FREE!




With the recent changes of Hectic Void, I am sure there were probably some who liked the original Hectic. So because of that, you can play the original Hectic (for free) that originally launched on Steam. Grab it here!




Third, Barlock Squash (which WILL feature Hectic Void) is now playable!




To give a brief rundown, Barlock Squash is a top-down 3D arcade shooter which features a simplistic art style and re-introduces familiar worlds with characters and enemies from prior titles created by Barlock Games. This game is a HUGE throwback to Barlock Games and it's history. Currently the build only features 3 playable levels but you can sure to expect to see Hectic Void on there very very soon.

Hectic Void 2.1.0 + NEW Project

First things first: Hectic Void has received a new update! Hectic Void: 2.1.0!


Let's talk about the update's BIGGEST feature!

The Hulvus have returned!




As you can see, they are back and ready to be destroyed!
They are also being introduced with a different environment!




Also Introducing: Arcade Mode!


Arcade Mode is meant to be for those who just want to have fun and shoot their way to victory. This mode will give you all the weapons in the game. The only thing that can stop you now is yourself!
The update log can be found in the menu's.



While news regarding Hectic Void has been rather slow, there is a huge reason for this. I have been putting a huge amount of time into a new project.



Introducing: Barlock Squash!

Hectic Void is now LIVE!

If you didn't read the previous post, It was announced that Hectic would be getting a full reboot which would address the biggest complaints that Hectic received.




Well, it's available now! Introducing Hectic Void





Let's talk about what this game is bringing to the table.



Firstly, A short but sweet narrative.



While shooters are known to have a stale and bland story, With Hectic Void, I wanted the player to know a little more about who they are playing as. While the character itself is still very much unknown, it certainly does help setup the game.



Although if that's not something you're interested in, there's always the option to skip the cutscenes as well.




Second, a different feel to the game



Something MAJOR that Hectic didn't have was a feeling. With Hectic Void, not only are the menu's themed to look like a terminal, but the in-game music shares the somewhat same retro-like feeling as well. Hectic Void now has a clearly visible theme.

Third, a huge approach with addressing feedback



It is no lie that Hectic's history has been full of issues. With Hectic Void, it was finally my opportunity to address the biggest complaints that Hectic had gathered. Let's list off some of the biggest complaints since launch of Hectic.

Sticky collisions, Sticky controls, FOV issues, Keyboard bindings, Long loading times and broken events. ALL of these issues have been fixed with Hectic Void.

Hectic's HUGE overhaul plan

Hectic hasn't had an update in a few months. Let's talk about why.




The first reason being there's a new project in development. You can view it's pre-alpha on our website. More will be discussed with this project in the future.

The second reason being that Hectic has been quite a weird project from the start. Personally I would like to apologize to anyone who has experienced random issues regarding this game. Whether that be crashes, glitches, or an annoyance of features.


Hectic will be getting some MAJOR changes soon.



Just to give you all a rundown. First off, Hectic's title will be changed (to avoid any confusion with it's past).

Second, I am going to take a look at the entirety of Hectic and take out what works, and keep what sticks.

Thirdly, The game is going to have a different feel and approach. This game is going to essentially be a full reboot. All of this content will be free to anyone who owns the game currently.

For those who like Hectic's current version, do not worry. There will be ways for you to still play.


These changes will be coming soon, so stay tuned.

Hectic 1.0.2: Red Advancement + Lunar Sale

Hectic has returned for a pretty lengthy update! Let's get into it.




Hectic: Red Advancement



The game's overall color theme has been changed..as well as some other major things!




User Profiles!



You can now choose between multiple profiles just in case if you wanted an extra go at the game! (If you had a previous save, it will now remain in "User 01".)



Brand New Menu!



As you can see, the menu has been redesigned for the player to navigate much quicker. Also features models of your player!


Customization has never been easier!




Customizing your player could never be easier until now! Not only is everything much easier to understand, but you can also edit your character anytime. Even in-game!


Biggest requested features:



There has been many concerns about two things. Collisions and the field of view. Both of which has been fixed! Let's take a look at the FOV options!



These are the major examples with FOV adjustment. There are plenty of more options to choose from though. While I don't have anything to show for collisions, try walking into anything. It won't be very easy to get stuck anymore!


Update Log:



Additions:

  • Added an entirely new main menu! (From here you can access anything you need! The pause menu shares the same functions as well)
  • Added a slower movement system when in smaller areas (This will prevent the player from easily getting stuck in certain areas)
  • Added Inverted Y-Axis in the options menu

Changes:

  • Changed the HUD (the screen will now slowly fade to red when low on health)
  • Changed all exclusive/challenge materials to be available for all players
  • Changed the rewards for every challenge (they will give the player MUCH more XP than before)

Fixes:

  • Fixed the player from getting stuck on collisions!
  • Fixed the FOV settings (They should now show a significant difference. More options have been added as well)
  • Fixed the game mode challenges from sharing the same description as King of the Void
  • Fixed the game from taking the player to a black screen when dying
  • Fixed the game from not removing the player's slow walking (used when in small areas) when quitting to menu
  • Fixed the game from getting an error when attempting to launch an Onslaught level
  • Fixed the challenge check box from being unchecked when highlighting Jackpot
  • Fixed the overly LONG loading screens
  • Fixed certain projectiles from not damaging the player



While not much was introduced content likewise, I hope you'll enjoy the drastic changes within the gameplay! Until next time.

Hectic 9.0: Festival Grounds + Sale

Hectic is back just in time for another update! Let's get right to it.





Hectic: Festival Grounds



as you can see, this update isn't just Holiday themed but also adds some new stuff! Here are some of the highlights:



New Enemy Faction: The Hulvus



These dangerous robots have only one task: To take you down. Show them who's really in control! These new enemies can be found in the newest Obliteration level as well as Jackpot.



New Weapon: Mulchier



This M16 resemblance will be your new source of destruction for taking out the hordes of aliens! This weapon can be found in the latest Obliteration as well as Jackpot, Onslaught, and the HQ.



New Career Objectives!




As you can see, the career objectives have been split into different categories as well as some more addition tasks for you to tackle! More will be coming very soon, so stay tuned for that.

Additions:

  • Added a NEW Obliteration level! (Play it NOW to unlock exclusive materials)
  • Added 3 NEW enemies! (These new enemies are advanced robots with one task; to stand in your way! Take em all down.)
  • Added a NEW weapon; the Mulchier! (This deadly M16 resemblance will dominate anything that stands in it's path. Can also be used in Onslaught, Jackpot and the HQ)
  • Added a NEW difficulty system (The easier the difficulty, the less amount of enemies will be on-screen.)
  • Added NEW Career Objectives (They have also been sorted by weapons and enemies)
  • Added 2 NEW Steam achievements
  • Added a spawn cap for extra enemies (These are the enemies that spawn within other enemies. The cap has been reduced to improve performance.)
  • Added Void and Hulvus enemies to the Jackpot gamemode
  • Added more player progression levels (25 is now the current max)
  • Added present themed item pickups (ONLY for a limited time)
  • Added 6 NEW materials (These are ONLY for a limited time)


Changes:

  • Changed the entire damage system for all enemies and weapons (Every weapon of it's category will now take the same damage. Enemies have now been sorted as 3 categories: Minions, Mediums, and Majors. Each category will have it's own health and will share it across all factions)
  • Changed the properties of extra enemy deaths (They will all now drop XP as well as supply drops)
  • Changed the mouse sensitivity settings (There are now 2x more options to choose from)


Fixes:

Hectic 8.5 - Maintenance Update Now Available

Another update has arrived for Hectic! Though this one in particular mainly contains many changes and fixes for the preparation of the next upcoming content update. Let's show off the most notable features.


Control binding is now available!





As you can see, you can select a specific control and choose which key should be binded with that said control. More keys/options will be added within the future.


The game has had some BIG model/texture changes





While it may not be too noticable, these changes have greatly increased the performance throughout many areas.



Let's list off ALL of the update notes:



Additions:

  • Added the option to bind controls! (Once you select a specific control, a keyboard/mouse layout will show all of the available binds you can apply)
  • Added texture overhauls throughout the game (This includes textures and models)
  • Added multiple sections in the pause menu (general settings, performance settings and controls are in separate sections)


Changes:

  • Changed the player's movement speed (It is now faster and more responsive)
  • Changed the numbered options in the menu (They now have pre-made numbers so you can easily navigate through each option)
  • Changed material sections (They have been rearranged and are easier to understand)
  • Changed model counts within every level (This should increase overall performance)
  • Changed the damage for the Super Rocket (It should now be the strongest weapon in the game)


Fixes:

Hectic 8.0 - "Dark Hedge" Now Available!

Hectic is back with another HUGE content update which includes new weapons, perks, levels, more progression, and much more!

If it wasn't obvious enough, this update's theme is Halloween!
If you jump in before 11 / 7 / 18, you can unlock limited-time materials by simply playing the latest level!

Introducing NEW weapons!

Katana:




With this new weapon, you can now give deadly powerful attacks against the enemy. The weapon can be used in the latest Obliteration level as well as Jackpot and Onslaught.

Uzilators:




Still looking for more destruction? With the Uzilators, the only thing those blood thirsty aliens will taste is the bodies of other dead aliens. The weapon can also be used in the same modes listed above.


Featuring a re-designed headquarters!






As you can see, the area has gotten a major texture improvement. Also don't worry, the pumpkins aren't dangerous. Hopefully not.


Let's list off ALL the features included:



Additions:

  • Added two new weapons! (They can be used in the latest Obliteration level as well as Onslaught and Jackpot)
  • Added a new Obliteration level! (This one is purely Halloween themed but WILL stay after the event)
  • Added themed item pickups! (Each item has been replaced with 3D skulls, but only for this event!)
  • Added themed materials! (They are ONLY exclusive to this event's playlist)
  • Added a revamped Jackpot! (Jackpot will now be completely random! We're talking areas, weapons and enemies!)
  • Added 3 new perks!
  • Added 2 new achievements!
  • Added 5 levels to player progression (20 is now the current max level)


Changes:

  • Changed the designs of the headquarters (MUCH more detail has been added)
  • Changed the main menu background (It is now Dark Hedge themed)
  • Changed the game icon


Fixes:

  • Fixed certain weapon animations from not starting when holding the left-mouse button
  • Fixed the mouse cursor from disappearing when attempting to close the settings menu

Apologies for the long delay. I have been hard at work with the latest update which is now available!

Hectic 7.0 - "Into the Void"




It is probably important to note that each upcoming update will have it's own theme and a major implementation within the game. This update is a great example!



Introducing a new species: The Void




These strange creatures capture the forms of other life and give a completely new challenge to the player. They have been added throughout the latest Obliteration levels



The game has had some MAJOR additions, one of which includes the career objectives




As you can see, the Career Objectives will be an additional way to earn XP so you can reach the very top!



Let's list off some of the main features below!



Additions:

  • Added 3 new Obliteration levels! (Strap yourself in as you jump feet first into the Void's worlds!)
  • Added new Void enemies! (These strange creatures have captured the forms of other exisiting creatures but with completely different mechanics)
  • Added MORE player progression levels (15 is the current max now)
  • Added a new section for materials (materials have been added for levels 11-15)
  • Added the "Career Objectives" display at the headquarters
  • Added 9 new Steam achievements
  • Added an overhauled and detailed settings menu


Changes:

  • Changed the weapon system (ALL base weapons will now remain unlocked and can only be equipped at specific times)
  • Changed the despawn timers for item drops (They will now remain on the map for 20 seconds)
  • Changed the pump animation for the Koil shotgun (there is now much more kick and movement)
  • Changed the stats for EVERY weapon (They are now all incredibly strong and powerful against any enemy)
  • Changed the sounds for when firing the Tier 1 Handgun
  • Changed icons for several game modes
