Beta News: Art Gallery now open



Greetings!

The latest build of Heist has gone live and here's whats changed


  • Art Gallery:

    • Now live and unlockable by completing the Casino
    • A rare painting is your target and could be on display at 3 possible locations!
    • Risk searching for it, or break into the Art Gallery's offices to find it location


  • Casino:

    • Re-added walls that had gone missing


  • Options Config:

    • Audio volume Settings now persist
    • Audio Setting generate a modifiable ini file.
      Can be found in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\AtomizerGames\Heist'
    • Re-added Antialiasing setting
    • Re-added Antialiasing Quality setting
    • Re-added Texture Quality setting
    • Re-added Anisotropic setting
    • Re-added Luma Sharpening setting


  • Fixes:

    • Fixed Country Club and Casino room hiding not saving settings correctly
    • Fixed Some Get it objects not animating when interacted with
    • Fixed some potential performance issues with Player tracking

Beta News: Plan B



Greetings!

Last Wednesday we pushed out a big Update to steam that encapsulated a bunch of changes.
This included new content and fixes to outstanding issues we didn't didn't notice present in the initial update last weekend.
We chalk up the oversight to a lack of coffee...

So here's what has changed:


  • Casino
    We had begun rebuilding the street section of the Casino but wasn't finished when we pushed out the update. Since we have done more work to get the area into line with our final vision

<*>Reduced the height of street buildings
<*>Added wall fading to Street borders
<*>Added Gun Guard to Street entrance
<*>Fixed underground transition


<*>Country Club
The long-awaited changes to the Country Club are now live and ready for testing

  • Redesigned the outer rooms for better gameplay as well as made them outdoors
  • Converted the outer areas to be encapsulated
  • Removed large uninteresting open area around outer rooms


<*>Video configurations

  • Re-added Monitor selection
  • Re-added V-sync setting
  • Re-added Texture Quality setting
  • Added ini file generation for easily adjust settings outside of the game
    Can be found in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\AtomizerGames\Heist'




The Art Gallery at present still requires some additional work but will be available in the next Update

Quick update

We recently pushed out an update to Heist that features some amount of WIP changes that slipped under our watch.

As such, expect a few updates throughout the week to resolve these issues.

Beta News: Master planning



Greetings,

This fortnight, we have devoted a lot of time into the planning as we previously mentioned, and are now poised to ramp up the development and updates in the coming fortnights.

Last time we mentioned the UI overhaul we have been undertaking and we are pleased to share with you something more than screenshots!
In today's update, we have included the Updated Audio menu and a partial update to the Video Menu.

You will be able to change the Resolution and Windowed setting presently, but other settings are yet to be set up completely.

Please let us know of any issues you come across in the Bugs Forum

Additionally, we have also fixed a couple of issues spotted in the Shipping Yard from the previous update.

We are planning on bringing you some massive updates to the Country Club and have the Art Gallery up and running for the next update, so keep an eye out for that!

You couldn't keep us away if you tried

Dear Heisters,


The road ahead is a long one, and a lot of our attention these past weeks have revolved around planning out the year.
While those discussions are going on within the team, we have continued on where we left off from last year.

The Shipping Yard entry got a make-over last year, turning a boring box into a Train Platform. You can check out the Before & After on our Twitter.
We have started to give the Exit region the same treatment!
Fellow Beta testers can now skulk about in the initial changes and help find any flaws.

Additionally, some of you may notice a difference in style between the Options Menu and the rest of our UI. This disharmony will soon be no more as we are work on updating all of the in-game menus to fit the new style.
While it's far from complete, you can check out some of the changes here!

We have to make this brief as we have much to do.

Returning to the Scene of the Crime

Welcome to 2018!



What a year that was.
Full of; deep design discussion, constantly confluent codebase, art advances, plentiful podcasts & bountiful bug bashing.

We at Atomizer Games feel tremendously proud of what we have achieved in 2017, especially with our showing at PAX. We are excited to continue sharing the growth and completion of HEIST with you all.

This will be a huge year for us with a lot of work ahead.
Some of it includes; Level designs being finalized, 3D models getting refined, splashes of sepia and touches of color across levels, and more jazzy tunes!

As part of this journey to complete Heist, we will continue to provide a steady stream of updates to you in the Beta program. We will continue to provide some amount of update on a fortnightly basis. Including constant bug fixes and more content to explore and master as it developed.

As we wade back into the depths of development, we're looking forward to seeing what tool combinations, approaches to levels & community challenges you all come up with this year!

Expect the next update to go live in about a weeks time, but till then, Stick to the Shadows...

New Update and Holiday News!



Greetings!

As the year comes to a close, we wanted to get out one final update to the build and let you know of our plans for the Holiday season.

Here's what's been changed in build 0.3.9r1:

  • Tutorial

    • Bomb placement instruction clipping through geometry
    • Fixed the wrong ambience SFX set for the level


  • Shipping Yard

    • Fixed some Props floating
    • Fixed a bug where kicking open the Crate allowed you to leave hiding spots without pressing the interaction key


  • Country Club

    • Added an effect when Looting the Filing Cabinets and Boxes
    • Fixed Document storage boxes playing the wrong SFX when looting
    • Ensured Lootables will play opening animation
    • Fixed a bug where loading a checkpoint wouldn't reset the animation of opened Filing Cabinets and Boxes


  • General

    • Updated the Art for the Paused menu
    • Moving the mouse will now trigger a change in preferred input device
    • Fixed an issue where new players would have their texture quality setting set to quarter

The next update will be in January once we get back into the swing of development.
We plan on bringing you the final design of the Country Club as well as get you all into a functional version of the Art Gallery ready for testing.

Beta Build 0.3.8 is now live!


Greetings!

For this Update, we've been focused on addressing the issues with the Levels and Get It Objectives as identified by you!

Here's a break down of improvements and fixes in this update:


  • Safe Cracking - Tutorial :
    The Safe wouldn't restore to its default state after loading a Checkpoint

    • Safe door remaining open after loading a checkpoint
    • Being unable to re-take the loot after loading a checkpoint
    • Level Exit would remain Activated


  • Shipping Crate - Shipping Yard:

    • Opening animation would play after loading a checkpoint
    • General stability improvements
    • Spamming the kick could cause you to freeze in place


  • Documents - Country Club:

    • Fixed a bug that would freeze the player when attempting to collect loot
    • Fixed a bug where the player would tilt when attempting to collect loot


  • Changes to the Cherry Bomb:

    • Reduced the cherry bomb distraction radius from 10 to 7.5


  • Changes to the Tutorial:

    • Modified Tutorial to factor in Cherry Bomb changes
    • Improved the layout of the cherry bomb room to prevent players being spotted by off-screen guard
    • Changed cherry bomb instruction text to be more direct


  • Visual Improvements to the Shipping Yard:

    • Added Train Platform
    • Converted space around Dock A lobby to be Outdoors


  • Changes to the Country Club:
    There were several parts of the Country Clubs level design that we weren't happy with, and as such have begun making improvements

    • Rebuilt Starting Area
    • Converted Meeting Rooms into Servant Village
    • Added Maze to South East Grounds
    • Re-designed Lounges Layout
    • Added Locked Get It Door combination collectables


  • Improved various UI:

    • Steam will now always show when pressing the Bug Report Button
    • Removed the Bug report button appearing on the Press Any Key screen
    • Fixed the Hotswap Dpad keys showing incorrect direction




The Country Club should now be playable from end-to-end without interruption.

We'd like to turn your attention to Snortlepig's Latest Challenge: Stomping the Shipping Yard.
The goal: Beat the Shipping Yard level with the Stompers Equipped!
The Stompers can be unlocked by completing the Country Club.
Be sure to Post your results to determine who the best Thief is!

Build 0.3.7r4 Live and more!



Greetings!

We have uploaded a new build addressing various issues with gameplay across the game.

Here is a list of the changes

  • Fixed Key UI appearing when loading a checkpoint at any stage in the shipping yard
  • Fixed Level graphic in level selection, calling the Country Club the Art Gallery
  • Fixed Casino and Art Gallery not unlocking. (NB: that the Country Club still is unfinishable)
  • Fixed Shipping yard door allowing you to slide backwards after opening it.
  • Fixed Guards going to initial distraction source after chasing the losing the player.
  • Fixed Hiding spot in Tutorial Safe Room
  • Fixed Nabbed Exit button restarting the level
  • Changed default resolution settings (will require regedit to see this change)

We are currently in the middle of addressing issues with the Country Club's playability (known as the Art Gallery due to the level selections incorrect graphic).

We plan on having these issues resolved along with updates to the Level design by the next update.

Beta Update 0.3.7 now live!


Greetings!

The build we have been promising since PAX is now live, and just in time for the rest of the long weekend!

You'll now see the improved art in the Tutorial that was on show at PAX.
Those changes had caused a lot of art in the shipping yard to break, and fixing that has been the bulk of the work leading up to this build.

Additionally, we have also added a 'Bug Report' button in the Main Menu and Paused Menu respectively.
Clicking on this will load the Bug Forums within the steam client.

We are already underway for the next update, but details on that later!
