Balancing Overhaul

With Patch 1.3.1 balancing has been overhauled for most hard and insane maps.

  • Insane is now a much greater challenge and is more fun to play.
  • Hard is now more tactical and ‘stands out’ from medium and insane.

We are looking forward to what you think about these changes - let us know!

Update: Lava Falls

Nestled in the Haunted Island’s steep mountain range, lurk the fabled Lava Falls. Cascading rivers of magma swiftly descend at extremely high altitude.

Do you have the guts and stamina to withstand the heat, and beat the creeps?

Happy Tuesday showcased Lava Falls to an enthusiastic crowd at the gamescom. Now it’s time to bring the lava home and melt some corpses, together.

Unlike other maps, Lava Falls is asymmetrical, forcing you and your friends to experiment with a variety of gameplay styles. More challenging than previous experiences, it features a warm blend of summer colors and is our toughest Co-op map yet.

Enjoy playing Lava Falls and the array of improvements coming your way, today. Playing with the Steam Controller is easier and more fun, and you can now cycle through your Heroes with Tab or Caps Lock.

Wishing you all a scorching end to the summer!
/Happy Tuesday

P.S. As always, you can find the Patch Notes in the usual place.

Pirate Bounty

Today’s update marks the arrival of Pirate Bounty, a single-player challenge crafted for the summer sale Bounty Hunt.

Hordes of creeps are intent on reaching the mines, jumping from pirate ships and equipped with explosives. You are tasked with thwarting their plans!

Select Pirate Bounty from the overview to play:

Hotkey tips:

  • Key X to toggle between single and double speed
  • Spacebar to charge Heroes when selected
  • Left CTRL to pause

Game tips:

  • Leverage the high point to utilize Barrow’s aura – helping you slow creeps and buff Heroes
  • Double the trouble if creeps break the Mine barricade. Watch out!

As always, we've published the Patch Notes if you’d like to get some in-depth insight into the update.

Enjoy your weekend, gold pillagers!

Hotfix: Matchmaking

With today's Hotfix, we've fixed most of the matchmaking issues in PvP.

If you were experiencing lots of error messages and could not find anybody before, please try again now.

Let us know if you still have any problems!

Update: New Challenges

On Happy Tuesday we slammed out a Facebook challenge to see if you could reach 8 Million creep defeats by midnight. Tragically *sob* the goal wasn’t met, but will be in a matter of minutes.

This afternoon a new update will reach your screens with the following:

  • Smoother entry for Co-op (just need to recruit Sam!)
  • Added an eighth map to rotation on Endless - Mines
  • Tutorial & matchmaking improvements
  • Sprinkle of bug fixes

*Reminder*

  • Wednesday: ‘Beat the Devs’ with Kevin & Friedrich starts at 5pm
  • Thursday: ''Star Hunt' runs from 4-6pm with Kevin (and later) Friedrich
  • Friday: ‘Beat the Devs’ with Kevin & Friedrich starts at 5pm

All times listed are UTC / CEST and can be viewed live on Twitch.

That’s not all! The team still plans to bring the new 'Event Map' challenge to you by Friday. But we think the name sucks, so from now on, it’s gonna be known as ‘Pirate Bounty’.

Stay tuned!

P.S. As usual the full patch notes can be found here.
