More events and better event levels

Version 0.4.8 brings more world content, a whopping 7 new events and one new location. Event levels should now be better leveled to your game progression too.

I'll probably slow down on new events for the next patch, and plan on focusing on some of the reported bugs that I have in my back log.

Update notes for version 0.4.7

Version 0.4.7 is now out. The 0.4.x updates are still focused on world events and locations. This patch brings the total number of events to 17 and total locations to 13. My goal is to have ~40 events and ~20 locations in the final game. I may not finish them all before I move on to the 0.5.x series of updates, but I expect to have at least 80% of them before calling 0.4.x done.

There are still some fundamental features missing in world events, and event levels will need balancing still. Also I'd love to hear feedback on the events.

Events are live!

Version 0.4.6 enables the last missing major feature of the game: World Events.



These are random events that occur from time to time. They range in size and complexity from a random dungeon to a choose-your-own adventure style narrative. They should make the game world seem more alive and dynamic and add some random variety to the game.

There's many more of these to be added (I'm aiming for 40+ of various lengths), and some new functionality needs to be added to enable this variety, but I think 13 events is finally enough to enable this feature.

More fixes!

A bunch of fixes have landed. Fixing some new issues as well as some longer standing bugs. This is beginning to become a pattern now: a release adds new features and content and a fix release comes out soon after.

Thank you to everyone who has been filing bugs! Easy to reproduce issues get fixed *much* faster making the game better for everyone!

More locations to explore!

The latest update adds 4 new world locations to find: wishing wells, the forbidden library, magical fountains and a camp to recruit new heroes from. Additionally you'll start to see higher level heroes available to recruit. Plus some bug fixes as usual.

The next update may take a while. I'll be focusing on adding what I call world events - there are random events that occur just about any time: visiting merchants, new dungeons, traveling heroes and random disasters. It will take time to create enough of these to be worth enabling, so they don't get too repetitive. Plus I need to improve some internal tools to make them easier to create and debug.



Version 0.4.4 changes:

Version 0.4.3 is now out, with some quick fixes for issues found in 0.4.2

Larger worlds await



New dungeon activities have been added - not all quests are about killing the boss, now there are treasure hunts! This will add some new variation to dungeon exploring. Only a few items are available currently but more will be added over time as various new quest types are added.

I've unlocked world sizes in new games, previously they were defaulting to small worlds due to lack of content. I've stopped that and now you can select any size. In the future Custom will allow more detailed customization, but for not it's just a very large world.

Finally thank you to everyone who's been reporting bugs! Bug reports go noticed and you can see I've been fixing a number of smaller (and not so smaller) issues while I work on improving world content and variety.

I expect the next version to bring a few more world locations before I move on to adding random world events into the game.

Version 0.4.2 brings the following improvements:

Version 0.4.1 doesn't bring any new content, instead I decided to spend some time and go through the bug back log to fix some long outstanding issue (and some newly reported ones!)

Worlds to Explore

The latest version bring some new world content - specifically new locations of interest. Enhancing the world map is the focus of 0.4.x. The 0.2.x and 0.3.x mostly focused on skill and monsters, and while a number of different dungeon types were added, the improvements have mostly been on dungeon crawling.



A number of world locations you can visit and interact with were added: weapon smiths, armour smiths, alchemists, ranger camp, windmills and fairy groves. These add some depth to the world and are just the start of location other than dungeons that will be added to the game.

Currently the buildings act just like ones you can build in your town. You can upgrade them, shop, and such. This might change in the future, but we'll see how this works for now.

Expect more locations types to be added in the next few updates. Unfortunately you while save games should still work, you won't see any new world locations unless you start a new game.

Version 0.4.0 Changes
