I'm so ready to get back to coding...

Dev Update; April 2, 2018

About 15 left to go, and then I'll have to assess where to go from there, but that will be a big milestone!

Dev Update; March 22, 2018

Hey all, just finished the Hall of Knowledge, which is the main building for the Magister class. I'm pleased with it but not thrilled. I'll no doubt be coming back to that one to refine it (probably more than once). I'll probably try to knock out a few of the easier buildings before tackling the Void Temple, which might be the hardest one of the lot.

Dev Update; March 16, 2018

Solid progress over the last few days - I'm concentrating solely on getting all of the structures for city building modeled, arranged, and set up with scripts for building. Not my favorite part of dev tbh, but it has to get done. This week I knocked out the Tavern, Inn, Hospital, and Woodcutter. Low hanging fruit first, the more complex ones like the Temple of the Void, or the Magister's University will take more time. At any rate, onward...

Dev Update; March 9, 2018

I'm pleased with the progress of the last month - most of it was whiteboard work getting the building hierarchies cemented. Over the last few days I reduced it to code, and I'm about to implement it all into the actual city building module. Along the way we've been spitballing ideas on the Discord server. If you haven't checked us out over there, pop in and say hi!

Here's one piece of lore we came up with:

Shepherds of Mercy
"The Shepherds of Mercy are a mysterious order of bow-wielding hunters. They shun the technology of the Meracytes and the spiritual power of Void Energy in favor of physical weapons and traps, along with their ability in the martial arts. They are one part Ranger, one part Samurai, and one part Illuminati. The Shepherds believe it their destiny to police the Land of Issachar, dispensing justice as judge, jury, and (often) executioner. While they tolerate the aforementioned disciplines of Meracytes and Void Energy, they are zealous upholders of the law of the Citadel, even though every Grand Prefect dating back to Furia Petrionax has disavowed any association with the Shepherds of Mercy."

Dev Update; February 10, 2018

It's been a few good weeks - city building continues to get refined. Latest updates:

New building construction collision detection
Existing building move collision detection

This was a pretty big hangup before, so it feels good to get this working functionally. Now, I need to make it look and sound pretty...

Dev Update; February 3, 2018

Hope everyone is doing well - some quick updates:

City Building UI is functioning again
Resources are checked against building, preventing if not enough resources
UI displaying more detailed info, plus colors for insufficient resources

Next I'll be working on collision detection between buildings and removal (and refund) of buildings

Dev Update; January 23, 2018

Still plugging along...and still working on the city building part. I'm now getting the UI set so that the player can see building data prior to building, and also preventing buildings from being available if the resources aren't available. Rather than throw it together and move on, I've decided to stay in the city building portion until it is good and polished, so that hopefully I can leave it in final product quality.

Dev Update; December 4, 2017

Hey everyone, just letting you know I'm still alive and working...it's been slow going on the Town Defense missions, but I'm seeing the end of the tunnel on those. Once they are done, I might put the missions on hold for a bitand roll with just the types I've got done, so that I can start back on the actual city building part of the game. I was hoping to have all of the mission types done before doing that, but town defense took its toll on me, so I could use something fresh to work on instead of another mission type. At any rate, once town defense is finished, I'll let you all know what's up next. My goal is to get the game in a state where I can actually push an update to Steam, but right now it's not ready. When it is, it'll be pretty massive, so I hope it's worth the wait...

Developer Update; Oct. 6, 2017

Progress has been made - Caravan and Outpost mission frameworks are complete, I'm now working on Town Defense. Once the mission types are done, I'll be moving back to the city building part of the game to get that in better shape. If things go well, I'm optimistic I'll be done before 2020. Fingers are crossed.
