Herolike

Day 1 DLC (just kidding)

It's in fact a quick patch resolving a rare crash that appears for some players when the Steam overlay loads.

Also we fixed a problem with the 'Main Menu' button not working on death!

Have fun!

The Great Launch Day!

Hi all,

With grate satisfaction we present to you the launch of Herolike!
After 18 months of total development, balancing and bug fixing, our baby is out in the wilderness.

There are lots of subtle or bigger changes made to the game since the last version, so players that tried the game in EA can replay it as well.

We would like to thank the community for supporting us and trusting in the game. Your feedback was very important and a small team like ours couldn't do it without your help!

We love you!
Enjoy Herolike!

Launch update

Hi all,

As probably you all noticed, the game is not launched yet.
Well that is because in the last month we received a lot of great feedback, which mostly required fixes. Pairing that with the fact that there is always room for improvements of the current systems, user interface and tutorial update and we got to this delay. We are also working on a more professional trailer and marketing materials for the launch.

Ironically, we are still within the initial goal of launching the game in 6 months from the initial launch in Early Access, but we broke our promise we made in the last update. We are very sorry for that, but we hope this delay will bring a more enjoyable user experience for you guys!

Thank you for the wonderful support and patience.

Patch 1.4a and preparations for launch

Hi everyone,

Back in February, when we launched the Early Access we promised that game development will take another 6 months, but we will manage this sooner. If nothing unexpected occurs, Herolike is due for launch on end of July. Wohoo!

Now, returning to the current version 1.4a.. you will be pleased to discover that we have many new additions and some work still to do until Launch.

New Class: Barbarian - the barbarian has low health, medium armor and serious damage, mostly due to his weapons. His skills are less effective on their own, when compared to other classes, but they are design to enhance the hero's survivability and damage output.

New Class: Trickster - is an interesting hero class. While the damage output of the items is medium, she has no armor and no access to an armor merchant! The skills are devastating when used in the right situations and their efficiency increases as the number of enemies increases. It's not really recommended to try trickster class as your first play through.

- added special effects, interface icons for skills, sound effects and 40+ new items for the new classes.

- extended the Town, by redesigning NPC spawning and adding two new buildings:

- Town Crier - building that provides 150 renown / building level upon starting a new play through.
- Military Expedition - similar to the Altar of War in functionality, you can spend 150 materials in order to have the current encounter completed upon next time when you enter the town. In return, you receive a random gold reward and the normal materials reward based on your Keep level.

Please let us know your feedback on the new additions and on any other bugs you encountered, no matter how small. We are on the last stretch!

Thank you!

Patch 1.3a intorducing the Hunter class

Hi guys,

Boy, this was a crazy month. I've taken up the daunting task of adding a second control scheme: mouse + keyboard and also a new character.

Upon starting a new game, you will be able to select which type of control scheme you want. The new control option, is playable by using the WASD keys and attack is done by mouse. There is no key-rebind support, yet, but it will be with the next patch!

By the votes you guys made, a new class is in the game: Hunter.
This new class focuses on taking enemies before they manage to get too close. So, the damage is high, the health is decent, but it has very little armor.
Also, what better proof that we listen to our community, than the fact that one of the Hunter's skills is healing over time? :D

We had to change tons of lines of code to make the new control work, so we encourage you to go all in, play and give us your feedback. We tested the new controls a lot, but could be uncaught bugs.

Additions:
- new class: Hunter
- 4 new skills for Hunter class: AOE attack, single target massive damage trap, healing over time and long cooldown, mana intensive AOE.
- 2 new item sets: Bows(weapons merchant) and Charms(armor merchant)
- option to choose between two control modes (this is done at character creation screen)
- the new control is based on keyboard for movement and mouse for attack / skill cast.

Thank you for your support and happy playing!

Patch 1.2a is here!

Another content update is here!

This patch was focused mostly on expanding on the friendly encounters as well as adding more variety to the defense encounters. We are introducing the Title system that works in conjunction with the friendly encounters to generate more gameplay value on the longer term. All the decisions you take during friendly encounters add now to the 12 titles currently implemented. Each title will bring your hero a bonus for the current game. Of course, it will not be possible to unlock all the titles in one game so go ahead and open up a new game!

Patch details:
- fixed minor AI path-finding issues that occurred when there were many AIs at one time.
- fixed minor typos in the text
- fixed a resolution issue, where the hot bar was not shown for high resolutions (2560x1440 for example).
- fixed some death animations for orc boss and orc engineer

- changed the ending interface and music for some encounters. Before some encounter types were ending too abruptly without providing any significant feedback to the player.
- changed lighting and mood in some scenes.
- changed the powerups spawn rate to balance out hostile encounters to the rest of the encounters.

- added new combat tracks for all the encounters. The music is set to play at a lower volume than the rest of the sounds.
- added traps in the game. You and your enemies alike can now be set on fire, smashed, sliced or impaled. Use the traps to your advantage.
- added two new defense encounter variations. One is an escape level where you must navigate through traps and the other is a 'capture the flag' style map.
- added the Titles system. Now each decision you make during friendly encounters, impacts the game even further.

Thank you for playing guys and thank you for the awesome support!

The short version (you will find patch details below) is that this patch focused on visual and AI bugs, while trying to address the game balance in difficulty. I'm looking forward to see if you guys think that balance is going in the right direction.
