Hexia
Version 1.1.0
We have updated Hexia, although many things are "hidden".
There is now an auto-save, the management of the Hexin has been adjusted to avoid being stuck halfway through the game. We also fixed bugs that caused slowdowns during game progress.
See you soon!
Version 1.0.0
Hexia comes out of early access to land the full version
It's been 2 years and 6 months, that's how long Hexia has been in development. Maybe even a little longer if we count the initial drafts as well. It has been an incredible period in which so much has changed. We have faced difficulties and obstacles, just as we have been privileged to experience moments full of pride and satisfaction, as this one is. All these experiences have matured us as professionals, and allowed us to make our team what it is now. The video game market and world is no longer just a distant dream for us now, we are in it, and we will continue to navigate this vast ocean of opportunity, doing everything we can to make our experiences worthwhile, and turn them into quality products. The sun has risen for the new version of Hexia: a beginning and a conclusion intersected in a single thread, full of meaning.
Always forward like this, toward new horizons!

Workers can now be matched to buildings only if the tile still has enough resources
Fixed a bug that didn't remove the instability indicator on a tile once the temple on it was successfully activated
Fixed a bug that in some cases did not make the construction of a structure not complete correctly, even though it had reached the correct turns
Added more info for tile effects and more
Initial implementation of the Achievements system (will be completed by version 1.0.0)
Minor fixes and further optimization for Steam Deck
Version 0.9.2
Thanks to your feedback on Discord and Reddit we are further improving and fixing Hexia. Here we are with a new version!
Patch notes
[Bug fix] - The Escape key brings up the pause menu, but doesn't close it again
[Bug fix] - Destroying buildings and rebuilding them does not correctly count the number that is displayed in the name, causing confusion especially in trade routes
[Bug fix] - When loading a game, the tile is not automatically selected
[Bug fix] - Trade route on collapsed building show on in map and doesn't show on the 'manage trade routes' UI
[Bug fix] - After a tile collapses, the worker isn't available to be assigned to a new building, even though their cottage now shows them as being 'free'
The tutorials have been fixed: now the images are displayed correctly and a bug that affected the input system has been fixed
Further improvements for the Steam Deck
The instability of a tile is now also visible graphically in the map
There is more life in the map: now you will see the workers doing their job, or waiting near their house
Changes to the event system, still not impactful but which allow us to work on a series of changes that will be implemented by the next patches
[New Feature] - Kingdom information is now available from the appropriate action. The information displayed will be expanded with each update
Version 0.9.1
Here we are with the first of a series of updates that improve Hexia, mainly following the feedback that we have received in recent days. The changes have been shared on our Discord server, so if you want to actively participate in the next updates join us too.
Patch notes
Added "Night Mode"
Camera rotation is now based on tile pivot
Camera zoom is faster
Improved gamepad usage. During the next updates we will keep our focus on this part, in order to make Hexia fully playable on Steam Deck
It is no longer possible to deselect a tile, so you will no longer have the problems with the expand action or sudden loss of selection as before
Implementation of the tutorial system; it will be expanded with as much information as possible with each future update
Removed the Depth of Field effect and mitigated the blur effect
Fixed a bug that didn't allow modals to be closed correctly if the ESC key on the keyboard was used, making the entire game interface unusable
Version 0.9.0
As previously anticipated, Hexia is finally updated to version 0.9.0! This is the first step towards the release of 1.0.0, a version that will close the early access cycle and make Hexia the complete game we worked so hard on.
For all those who have already purchased Hexia we hope you enjoy the update and immerse them in the world we have built. We remind you that you can join our server Discord to give us your feedback and report anything you deem useful, for us it would be a huge help.
Patch notes
Unreal Engine updated to version 5.1
The graphic assets of the project have been completely updated and optimized
The system that manages the camera and its movements has been totally revised and expanded
We have started implementing logic to manage the use of the gamepad; currently you still need a mouse and keyboard but with the next update we plan to enable their use at 100%
The save system has been totally changed. Old saves will no longer be managed
The audio compartment has been updated
All the gameplay has been modified: we have revised all the logic in order to make Hexia more satisfying and give it a new lifeblood
Implemented the turn-based system which replaces the previous real-time one; now the game will allow you to carry out a certain number of actions for each turn, it is up to the player to decide what is best to do
The notification system has been improved and made more functional than before. Now on some actions a confirmation will be requested and situations that are happening on the game map will be notified
The map is no longer structured with hexagonal tiles: we switched to square tiles in favor of the graphic update and new game mechanics (no, Hexia is not a name which derives from the hexagonal shape of the map)
Tiles now have a stability or instability status. Depending on what happens the tile can stay or fall in the clouds
Each tile can apply a random positive or negative effect that will affect the construction done on it
Tiles can be renamed as you like; initially a random name is generated by the system
Each tile has its own infobox that provides details in a more visible and precise way than the previous contextual tooltips
Resources have been added to the existing Hexin and Favor: Wood, Rock, Food and [b ]Workers
<*> Added the Trade Routes that take advantage of the new resources <*> Trade routes can be created from individual structures that generate resources to hubs that manage the exchange of value <*> With this new logic the player will be able to decide what to invest to generate Hexin, Favor or Challenge Points(you will know how to spend them with version 1.0.0) <*> Previous “Tile upgrades” have been updated and revised in the new building system; the structures are now more evident and integrate with the new system of trade routes <*> 8 unique structures have been introduced and with strategic effects connected to the new gameplay logic <*> Each structure can be placed in any buildable tile, taking advantage of (or undergoing) the effects of the latter <*> Structures that generate resources or that apply effects must be activated through the use of workers <*> Structures that use workers can be deactivated to recover the latter and use them on other structures <*> Some buildings apply effects to the tiles they are built on <*> Buildings can be removed at the cost of AP <*> Just as for the tiles, the structures will also have their own contextual infobox in which all the necessary information can be consulted <*> Added the system of Bonus / Malus that can last for the whole game or only for a certain number of rounds <*> The official story, divided into chapters, has finally been implemented <*> Each chapter of the story can be read again with the "Story Log" feature <*> The Events have been adjusted to the new gameplay <*> Each event will generate a bonus or malus depending on the choice made <*> Events may be ignored, causing a penalty. You will have to choose, during the game, if this penalty is better than receiving a potentially greater one <*> The missions of each chapter have been totally revised and optimized, with a much more detailed UI <*> Added three new languages: Spanish, French and German. We are aware that the localization is not yet 100% perfect, we are finishing the final control and adjustment phase.
Have fun everyone from Davide and Giacomo of Black Mastiff Studio!
Modified release date and new update
We are back from GDC in San Francisco and would like to report that Hexia will undergo a change in its final release date. The reasons are very simple: at GDC we interacted with important contacts, who evaluated the new version and provided us with a lot of useful information to take Hexia to the heights of quality it really deserves to reach.
In any case, an updated version of Hexia will be released on the 31st: 0.9.0 to be precise, which will begin to show what will then be further strengthened and improved. This will also be useful for us to receive valuable feedback and to be able to better prepare for the release with more languages, more details and higher quality.
Our Studio is evolving and these are crucial steps to allow the game to show its full potential, which would otherwise be wasted in a too hasty release. See you on March 31 with the last update of this early access, before the actual debut of the title.
Black Mastiff Studio @ GDC 2023
Black Mastiff Studio flies to America for the first time to participate in the GDC 2023! This massive event will take place March 20-24 in San Francisco, California.

For us this is a very important step and allows us to learn from many other developers and more! If you want to come and visit us we are at the Italian Booth P1559
Version 1.0.0 release date

Hexia - 2023 #2
March is approaching and with it the release of Hexia. In our previous news we updated you on the status of the project, now it's time to give you a visual preview of what you will find in version 1.0.0.
In these months of development we have concentrated our efforts on giving the project a total graphic renewal, and more. New gameplay logics, a substantial improvement of those already present. The change implemented is total, but the soul of Hexia remains the same, and indeed it is expanded.
The logo of the game has undergone an evolution, and is now in line with the expectations we set for it.
These images are just the beginning of the new experience waiting to be tried firsthand. The product that we are going to release will finally be complete with all the features that we have always wanted to implement.
