Home Wars

Update to version 1.037!

Hello, Generals!

As some of you may know, I added the page for the new Home Wars, or "Home Wars: Battlefield", to Steam.
I want to suggest the new game because if you liked this HW, especially its FPS/TPS component, you would surely like Home Wars: Battlefield even more!

To those who ask me what kind of game it will be, I quickly answer "Helldivers 2 + Battlefield 4" (which are games that I love, by the way!)

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.037:

- I noticed I didn't keep a couple of fixes when I changed the game engine in the last update, so I added them.

- I smoothed out the colliders of some buildings (campaign map) a bit because I noticed that the armies were getting stuck in certain convex corners.

- In the start menu I added a little reminder for the new "Home Wars: Battlefield", so those who don't read the updates will know about the new title.

IMPORTANT:

If you love the concept of the "Home Wars" universe as much as I do, please help me spread the word about the game in development to other players.
Please support the development of "Home Wars: Battlefield" by adding it to your WISHLIST and spreading the word.
Please feel free to post the link to the new game's Steam page in any environment where interested players might be able to find it.

Unfortunately, I don't have the money to do a marketing campaign, so I'll post a few ads here and there.
For this reason, I ask you, as a developer-friend, to advise other players to add "Home Wars: Battlefield" to their wishlist.

We can't let bugs destroy this game forever!

If you have any ideas for cheaply advertising the game, let me know, and I'll try to implement them.

THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG!

"Home Wars: Battlefield" page is released! WISHLIST NOW!

Hello, Generals!

I have published the page of my future game, "Home Wars: Battlefield"!

For all those who are interested or want to support me, hurry up and add this new title to your wishlist!

After adding HWB to your wishlist, come back here and leave a comment saying: "I'M DOING MY PART!", so I will know that you will be loyal to our cause against the "6+ legs"!

For all those who are thinking "I'm interested in HW, not HWB, go away!", I remind you that HWB, in addition to being an independent project, is also a preparatory project for HW2, because it will allow me to greatly improve the fps/tps side, to include naval combat from the beginning, to use physics as much as possible and to better understand the critical number of bots regarding performance.

Still don't know what the future "Home Wars: Battlefield" is about?
Hurry up and take a look!

HWB: Third faction REVEALED! + Store page

Hello, my brave Generals!

I'm here to tell you 2 good news!

1) Soon, I will finally publish the official "Home Wars: Battlefield" page on Steam in a few days!
This is where YOU come into play: when it's ready (I'll publish the news here), I need all the Generals capable of combat to enlist on the new battlefield!

2) Second news, juicier for many of you.
What will be the new third faction of the new Home Wars???
The new "Home Wars: Battlefield" faction will be DINOSAURS!!!

Why did I choose dinosaurs?

First of all, dinosaurs are always cool! They are big, always hungry, and omnipresent in cinematography and video game imagination.
The second reason is that we all had AT LEAST ONE toy dinosaur in our childhood.

Will it be a cool faction?

Of course, it is.

Why will it be a cool faction?

It will be for several reasons:
- it will be playable by the player (all factions will be playable by the player).
- we all dreamed of shooting a T-rex, let's not lie!
- when it comes to killer beasts, the saying "bigger is better" is true.
- you can charge a tank using a Triceratops or flank a platoon as a Velociraptor!

Will it be a very powerful faction?

Yes, but I will try to balance all the factions as much as possible.
In any case, there is no horde that napalm cannot purge!

What do I have to do to play it?

Wait for my next post, here on HW, where I will announce the publication of the new page of "Home Wars: Battlefield".
When the new page is online, press the relative "Add to Wishlist" button and wait for the day of the declaration of war!

I am sure many will love this new faction, but I am equally sure others will be disappointed.
I know that I could have included a faction similar to the Automatons from Helldivers 2, but yes, they are already there! I am happy to bring you new dynamics as much as I can.
Anyway, if it makes you feel better, I have already started saving some mech and robot models for the fourth possible faction. However, it can only be developed if the game has a good response due to the vast time required for implementation.

I hope I have made your day, my brothers!

In the meantime, I continue to work hard to create the most epic battlefield you have ever played!

HW BATTLEFIELD - Vehicle/aircraft/ship/submarine controls?

Hello, Generals!

I'm developing the first/third-person controls for Home Wars: Battlefield, and I had some doubts about how to best set them up to make the players feel "at home."
Then I thought: "Why don't you ask them directly?" so here I am!

The question is this:
How would you like the controls (for mouse and keyboard) to drive/pilot the following vehicles:
- land vehicles
- planes
- helicopters
- ships
- submarines
- mechs

Add personal opinions of how you would like to perceive the physics of movement, and I will try my best!

THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A NON-MECHANIZED BUG!

Update to version 1.036!

Hello, Generals!

In these months, you have pointed out to me that the game has problems starting.
Initially I was not too worried, because I know that this problem has always existed, but it affected very few players and I also never understood how to solve it, because I can never replicate it on my machines.
However, since I updated the game engine (Unity) in the hope of improving the experience for all users, I noticed that many more players were unable to start the game.

Even in this case, I could not replicate the problem on my computers, but something had to be done! I could not allow the hecatomb of insects to stop!

Consequently I opted for the most logical thing: I brought Home Wars back to the original game engine, trying to maintain all the improvements I had made in the last updates.
It really took me a long time, but it was the right thing to do for those who believed in me and in this project.

CHANGES IN VERSION 1.036:

- The game engine has been brought back to 2017! We are back to Unity 5.4!
I know it's always a paradox, but maybe it's the most stable way to play HW.
Let me know if you notice a performance degradation, thanks.

- I tried to keep all the improvements of the latest updates, but I definitely missed something, so if you notice it, let me know!

- I remember that some people complained about problems in the initial menu, I think they said they couldn't see/press some buttons.
I made some changes to the anchors of the various screens; tell me if it's better or worse now, especially for those with resolutions other than 16:9.

I want to point out that this great effort does not bring me any significant economic advantage, perhaps a few fewer refunds.
I did it because before being a developer, I am a gamer, or rather I would say a super gamer!
I know what it means to have your smile fade because of a game that does not start, which is why, for me, this type of problem has priority in being solved.

I take this opportunity to remind you to stay tuned with the news, because I am working assiduously on the new "Home Wars: Battlefield", even if I am encountering several problems in the development of the multiplayer component, which however I absolutely want to include.

The war against insects continues, my friends, and we are certainly not the ones to give up!

THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG!

What will be the THIRD FACTION in "Home Wars: Battlefield"?

In previous posts, you've given me some great suggestions about the third faction to include in my next title, "Home Wars: Battlefield", but none have come close.

It's probably not yet time to fully reveal the identity of our new friends, so I'll give you a hint, but I won't confirm any answers:

"They are big... they are bad... they are hungry!"

Start of development "HOME WARS: BATTLEFIELD" + survey!

"Gooooood morning, Vietnaaaam!"

Here we are!!!

Finally finally finally finally back to developing a new chapter of the Home Wars universe!

A few days ago I started developing the new Home Wars: Battlefield and I must say that the warrior spirit of when I developed the first title has returned to me.

I want to point out that this game will not be a "Home Wars 2", but will be a separate chapter, totally focused on battles!

Below are some questions and answers to clarify your ideas.

WHY A CHAPTER FOCUSED ONLY ON BATTLES?

There are mainly two reasons:
1) Developing HW2 would take me too long and now I can't afford it financially.
2) I would like to develop the battlefield part well and then transfer everything to the future HW2 and save some time.
Furthermore, I have the opportunity to test some totally new features compared to HW1.

WHAT NEW FEATURES WILL BE PRESENT?

1) There will be (I hope) at least 3 factions: the toy soldiers, the insects and... mystery!
2) I'm working hard to introduce multiplayer! It's my dream to develop a battlefield-style game, but PvE, I just hope the networking supports more than 4 players.
Obviously, single-player mode will also be available.
3) Naval battles!
4) All factions will be playable!
5) The toy soldiers will have movement animations; no more pedestals!
6) Translations into many languages.

SURVEY:

This is the first of a series of surveys that I will propose to you to create gameplay as close as possible to your tastes, so stay connected for future surveys.
Reply many!

1) If I could develop multiplayer successfully, do you think 4 players would be enough?
Obviously, the 4 (or more) players would be part of a much larger army, I hope almost 100 vs 100.

2) At least at the beginning, I would prefer to implement open maps, like islands, and then maybe later, I could create some home maps.
There won't be a workshop, sorry, but it's too long to implement, but everything you want to include in the game, I can create it! :)

3) Friendly fire or not? I say in multiplayer.

4) Do you want the insect faction to be "realistic" like HW1 or a little more fantasy like Helldivers 2?

5) What factions would you like besides soldiers and insects?

6) Is it a problem if there are no animations such as reloading weapons?
As you know, I'm a solo developer, and making tiny animations like reloading weapons would take up a lot of my time. Plus, they won't be as nice as other games.
I thought the soldier could lower the weapon long enough to reload and then return to the firing position.
I can't use external animations because my models are designed to have as few bones as possible in the animations so as to improve performance and maybe insert more bots to create more chaos!

7) The basic idea would be that the player starts with few choices when it comes to battle, but by collecting experience, he will be able to unlock each unit (vehicles, aircraft, ships, submarines, insects and who knows what! :D)
What do you think?
In this way, the game loses some of the immediacy of the gameplay but gains considerable longevity (I love unlocking things in video games)!

I hope you have read everything; reply in large numbers because it is very important for me to know your opinion!

When I have something to show you, I will publish the game page on Steam.

Stay tuned!

THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A F*****G DEAD BUG!!!

New HOME WARS! Do you prefer HW: COMMANDO or HW: BATTLEFIELD???

Hello Generals!!!

Finally, I can go back to developing a new Home Wars!

As much as I would like to develop "Home Wars 2" right away, that's not possible at the moment.

Why can't I develop Home Wars 2 now?

HW is a game composed of 3 different gameplay styles, namely turn-based strategy, real-time strategy, and first/third-person shooter.
As you understand, it is an extremely long and complex project to develop, especially with all the fantastic ideas that you have suggested and which I will include.

Is there another reason why I'm not developing Home Wars 2 yet?

I would like HW2 to have many new features. Among these are a physics-based system, naval units, playing as an insect, being able to play soldiers against soldiers, and much more.
All these features are risky to insert them all together for the first time, because they risk ruining the rest of the game.
Solution? I thought about introducing them gradually, one game at a time, so as to arrive at HW2 with the right experience to better integrate them and make a "definitive" Home Wars!

What are the options?

I have two projects in mind to start testing the new features:
- Home Wars: COMMANDO
- Home Wars: BATTLEFIELD

What is Home Wars: COMMANDO?

HW Commando is a sort of "Yet Another Zombie Survivors" set in the world of Home Wars.
There will be very different mechanics, also because I want to insert a sort of campaign linked to the neighborhood and not just to a single house.
There will be lots of weapons, lots of Helldivers style mounts (no code to enter) and most likely vehicles too.
I had already started developing this title, but I had to stop to finish the development of my latest game "Mercenaries of the Kingdom: First Blood".

What is Home Wars: BATTLEFIELD?

HW Battlefield is, just to give you an idea, a sort of "Ravenfield" set in the world of Home Wars, but with maps not necessarily linked only to domestic environments.
Here, the naval units will be present for the first time, and I will test the mode where soldiers fight against other soldiers (and, if desired, also insects against insects).
The development of this title would take longer than the previous title.

Why is this post coming now?

As I said, my latest game "Mercenaries of the Kingdom: First Blood" was released on May 24th and I highly invite you to check it out.
Among other things, if you want to support me in the development of new hardware, this is the best way for now.
Having finished development and being able to start dedicating myself to a new title (although I will obviously continue to create content for MOTK), I thought I'd ask you which of the two you preferred.
For various reasons, I will be the one to decide which title to develop first due to personal and work dynamics, but, as always, I care very strongly about your opinion.

Having said that, let's bring these little plastic heroes of ours back into the limelight, not for Democracy, but to truly defend our Home!

See you soon, my fellow warmongers!

"The only good bug is a dead bug!" forever!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!!

I wish you all a Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart!

Use this time of year to put love and passion at the center of your life, in whatever form it may be. From experience, I guarantee that things will start to change.

Furthermore, I have wanted to tell you something for some time, and the Christmas atmosphere allows me to tell you more easily.
Most of those who buy my products are teenagers, a time in life that we all know is difficult.
We often have difficulty talking to parents or friends about an internal problem.
I need to let you know that if you are going through a difficult time (teenager or not), you can write to me privately or open a discussion on the Community Hub.
I'm not a doctor, but I've been through so many bad times that maybe my experience will help someone in the future.

This world would be much more beautiful if we all had the courage to help and be helped.

See you next year! :D

HOME WARS: COMMANDO, let's do it!!!

Ok, Generals, let's begin!

Today I started creating the project I told you about previously (Home Wars Survivors), but I thought I'd give it a name and gameplay more suited to the theme it will deal with!

"Home Wars: Commando" will be a 3D roguelike game, different from the traditional Home Wars, with gameplay more similar to the famous Vampire Survivors, although very different obviously.

The dynamics should be as follows.
The player will have to carry out tasks around the map, while hordes of bugs will attack him.
These tasks may include sabotage missions, resource recovery, rescuing survivors, and much more.
He will be able to gradually improve his team, increasing the number of its members, their weapons, unlocking vehicles and support options (aircraft and artillery).

Napalm will return to claim its victims once again!

IMPORTANT:
Of course, I will continue my other project, "Mercenaries of the Kingdom: First Blood", which will not be slowed down by this new development.
I've been carrying out multiple projects at the same time for years.

In a few weeks, I should already have enough material to create the shop page, so please stay tuned!

That's all for now.
Generals, fall out!

THE ONLY GOOD BUG IS A DEAD BUG... ONCE AGAIN!
