We've decided to start a weekly build challenge so we can all learn from each other and make awesome designs! The Pathos and Wired team will then judge and pick the top 3 each weekly to be featured on the game's front menu đ The Winners will be announced and then new challenges will be set on Mondays so...
(June 2nd) This weeks challenge is: Build a Nintendo themed build as the switch 2 is coming out! This could be related to anything Nintendo, see an example at the bottom of this post!
Rules:
You must post your build to the steam screenshots area here to be considered for winning - instructions are in here to show how to do it: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=181142704
Include Weekly Challenge in the title somewhere!
It must be a functioning hotel with at least one bedroom!
Your entry must be posted by the Sunday of the week that challenge was set, by 11:59pm (UK time).
Example shot below:
Location Deep Dive: St Anton!
Set in the Austrian Alps, the St. Anton map location offers a unique challenge, stepping away from our previous urban and coastal settings in Gothenburg and Santorini. Here, you must design and manage a hotel that caters to winter sports enthusiasts and luxury seekers alike! So what is different in St Anton?
Ski Rentals
In St. Anton, providing ski equipment is essential. Guests expect convenient access to rentals, after all, thatâs what theyâre here for! Make sure they can rent their skiing equipment so they can head out on the slopes behind your hotel.
Mastering Temperature Management
The alpine environment introduces new challenges in maintaining the perfect indoor temperatures. You need to make sure the place is warm enough but not too hot, so radiators are key! Neglecting this aspect can lead to decreased guest satisfaction, negative reviews and even a very ice-y death!
Introducing Saunas: A New Zone!
St. Anton is the first map where you can unlock and build saunas. These facilities not only boost the hotel's rating but also cater to guests seeking relaxation after a day on the slopes. The question is, will you go down the route of having the full works with a spa or just a small sauna as a practical zone?
Hot Tips for Success in St. Anton
Invest in Heating: Just like in Santorini with aircon, radiators in St Anton are important!
Use everything youâve learnt before: You can choose to cater to a particular guest type or all of them but remember to use everything youâve learnt in other levels!
Try out the new zone: The sauna is an all important zone in this one, see your guests relax and enjoy a break after a long day of skiing!
Don't forget to check out the reward items you can earn on this map - you might find some cool goodies!
We hope you've all started to really get to grips with how your hotels run and we'd love to see some epic hotel builds if you want to share in the screenshots area on steam! We might even run a competition for best build at some point in the near future, so get practising đ
Also, in case you missed it, hotfix No. 2 is now live so if you've been having some issues with lazy cleaners and low gym ratings, they should be fixed!
Hope you all have a great weekend and happy building! - The Hotel Architect Team

Services in Hotel Architect â Construction, Garbage, and Supply!
Hello Hoteliers!
This week, we're taking a closer look at the Service Systems in Hotel Architect - your last how-to overview before Early Access launches next week!
In our previous post, we covered the various staff roles working within your hotel. But not everything can be handled in-house. Certain tasks require assistance from external services, which are essential for keeping your hotel clean, stocked, and structurally sound.
There are three types of services in Hotel Architect. Some operate automatically, while others need to be called in by you at the right time. Letâs take a look:
Construction Workers: Building the Foundation
Youâll likely become very familiar with this service (or might already be if you joined the playtests!)
Construction Workers are responsible for everything related to building and modifying your hotel. Their tasks include: Placing structures like foundations, inner walls, and material sites Installing structure items such as doors, windows, stairs, and elevators Applying custom surface finishes - from wallpaper and paint to wood, tile, and stone Placing furnishings and fixtures throughout hotel zones Performing demolition, whether youâre removing a single object or redesigning entire areas
Construction workers need to be called in when you place objects or structures through the build menu. The same applies when changes are needed, simply call them in! This process is covered in detail during the campaign tutorial in Gothenburg, so you can learn as you go!
Garbage Service: Keeping Things Clean Behind the Scenes
While less noticable than construction, the Garbage Service is critical to hotel cleanliness! Each in-game day, garbage collectors arrive to empty the dumpsters located around your hotel. However, itâs your hotel cleaners who move trash bags from bins and cans into those dumpsters. If your cleaning team is busy handling beds, dirty floors or other tasks, garbage might not be dealt with promptly. Make sure to balance your staffing to keep things running smoothly!
Supply Service: Essential for Restocking
The Supply Service ensures that your maintenance staff can keep machines and amenities stocked and operational. Supplies are delivered to your hotel and then the maintenance staff will take them to the supply stand in the maintenance workshop. From there, staff can restock vending machines, kitchen fridges, and more. The system runs periodically, but if youâre running low on inventory, itâs worth checking:
Whether your supply stand is fully stocked
If your staff can reach and distribute items efficiently
And whether you might benefit from adding an extra fridge or supply stand in high-traffic areas
Only 4 days left until Hotel Architect launches in Early Access on Steam! Donât forget to wishlist, and thank you for your continued support - we canât wait for you to start building next week.

How to recruit staff in Hotel Architect!
Hello hoteliers! We know you're all excited for Early Access in less than 2 weeks, so we're setting you up with even more info on how to be the best hoteliers right off the bat! Today, weâre diving into one of the most essential aspects of running a successful hotel in Hotel Architect: recruiting and managing your staff.
Whether itâs receptionists, cleaners, chefs, or bartenders, your team has a direct impact on the quality of your guestsâ experience. Hiring the right people and managing them well can be the difference between five stars and utter chaos. Hereâs what you need to know.
Staff Roles in Hotel Architect
As your hotel grows, so does the need for a skilled and balanced team. Youâll need a variety of roles to keep operations running smoothly, including:
Receptionists
Cleaners
Maintenance
Chefs
Waiters
Bartenders
And more, coming soon...
Each of these positions contributes to different areas of the hotel, so plan things out and keep a close eye on their activities!
How to Recruit New Staff
To begin hiring, open the Staff tab via the People icon on your main toolbar. From there, youâll see a list of potential candidates for each role, including their skill level and attributes.
If none of the current candidates are a good fit, you can wait for a new set to appear. But be careful, going without key staff for too long can quickly lead to operational meltdowns and unhappy guests.
Understanding Skill Levels
Every staff member has a skill level that increases as they work. Their initial skill level is influenced by your hotelâs current star rating and any staff-related upgrades you've unlocked in the upgrade tree. Hiring more skilled employees from the start will help your hotel run more efficiently and keep guest satisfaction high.
The Importance of Attributes
Attributes are unique traits that directly affect how well staff perform their duties. For example: - A Sheet Champion cleaner will fly through laundry - A Charismatic receptionist will instantly put guests at ease
Each employee has at least two attributes, and both can influence job performance. A âKey Expertâ receptionist might seem ideal until you notice they're also an introvert who doesn't do well around people! On the other hand, some hoteliers may enjoy running a hotel full of eccentric characters, like a juggling waiter with the Show-Off trait or a loud 'Shouter' maintenance person. The choice is yours!
Assigning Tasks
Once your staff is hired, you can assign them to specific tasks to optimize their efficiency. This is particularly important in busier hotels where managing workflows becomes more complex.
Experience Matters
Your staffâs experience level will impact your hotelâs critic ratings - just as it would in real-life hospitality. If an employee is slacking, itâs worth scouting for a replacement before terminating their contract. Firing a staff member too hastily can leave you understaffed and scrambling to keep things running.
These recruitment and management basics will help you get your hotel up and running efficiently. Keep in mind that as Hotel Architect continues through early access, staff systems may evolve based on community feedback.
