Update #15: Maintenance
Hello, Fellow Magnates! Our much-anticipated maintenance system overhaul is now live, bringing a fresh layer of realism to your hotel management experience. Plus, we're making steady progress on our disaster mechanics, and we can't wait to share more about it soon. Let's dive into the details!
Maintenance Changes
We’re thrilled to announce that our revamped maintenance system is now available for all players! No more automatic fixes—your staff will now need to notice and report maintenance issues themselves, adding a strategic twist to your gameplay. This means you'll want to keep your cleaners and other staff frequently checking rooms to spot any problems. We've also made it simpler for you to manually report issues and set priorities, giving you full control over your hotel's upkeep. For all the details and to share your thoughts, join the conversation on our Discord channel.
You can read about some of these changes in more detail in our previous weeks "Checking In: Report"
Above you can see the new UI for calling/reporting a maintenance issue, as well as the ability to increase its priority
Above you can see the new and improved maintenance warning UI
Disasters Progress🔥
While our maintenance system is now up and running, we're still hard at work on our disaster mechanics. We've made significant strides in developing the fire-spreading system, a crucial component of our disaster management feature. Although it's not ready for prime time just yet, we're excited about the direction we're heading and can't wait to bring you more updates and previews in the near future.
Other Changes:
We have also made extensive and wide reaching UI, audio and quality of life changes. We have tried to list them all in the below list of changes/fixes
added some UI functionality to the curved wall tool, making them easier to replicate

Made heatmaps/info views non-collapsible, making it more clear when you have one of these modes active (topbar)
Changed colour of Curved Wall Highlight
Added more audio to opening/selecting doors, windows, furniture, staff, guests and facilities
Adjusted Object Toolbar to include maintenance options
Improved the maintenance warning UI
Fixes:
Fixed some instances where objects would remain highlighted and could not be de-selected (There may be other ways this has been caused, so please report it, if you encounter it)
Fixed a bug where the curved wall tool would still place a wall when the player clicked confirm when the new wall highlight was out of bounds
Fixed an issue where building a room inside another room would reset the cleaning schedule of the original room and move the schedule to the new room
Fixed some issues with locating staff/guests that would block the ability to change floors
Fixed some issues with the number of current guests not being accurate and an issue where some rooms would remain booked when they shouldn't
Removed and adjusted UI filters on the facilities list in the management menu

Maintenance Changes & Testing
We're thrilled to announce that the maintenance changes we've talked about in previous posts are now available for public testing! No more will maintenance issues automatically be detected and fixed by a mysterious force. Now, your staff will need to notice these problems themselves, adding an extra layer of realism and management challenge. This means you'll want to ensure your cleaners and other staff are frequently visiting rooms to spot any issues. To compliment this we've streamlined the manual reporting process, allowing you to set priorities easily. For those eager to dive into the nitty-gritty details and provide feedback, head over to our Discord channel.
Here you can see the new maintenance management buttons on the object toolbar. You can manually call for a maintenance person, increase its priority or cancel the call
Disasters Progress🔥
Brace yourselves, because we're venturing into the thrilling territory of disaster management! Our team has started implementation work on the fire-spreading system, a feature that's taken numerous design meetings and creative brainstorming sessions to get just right. While we aren't ready to showcase this feature in all its fiery glory just yet, rest assured that more updates and sneak peeks are on the horizon. These developments are crucial as they lay the groundwork for introducing more complex disaster scenarios, ensuring a dynamic and engaging hotel disaster experience.
UI Changes and Improvements
Quality of life improvements are always a top priority for us, and this update is no exception. We've enhanced the visibility and intelligence of our warning and alert UI, making sure you never miss an important notification. Additionally, we've added new sounds when opening menus like room, staff, and guest details, adding a touch of auditory delight to your management tasks.
Above is the improved UI for maintenance alerts, making them a lot more visible and easier on the eyes. (we have also been updating the cleaning and other alerts to match)
One of the most requested UI features—being able to see the exact value when setting curved walls—has also been implemented, making it easier than ever to replicate those perfect curves in your hotel design.
That’s all for now, Magnates! Stay tuned for more updates and keep sharing your feedback. Your input is invaluable in helping us shape the ultimate hotel and resort tycoon experience. Until next time, happy building and managing!

Update #14: Cleaning Schedules
We've got some interesting management updates for you in this latest patch! We're introducing the new and improved Cleaning Management system that's sure to improve your hotel operations. Plus, we talk about some upcoming maintenance changes that will keep your establishment in tip-top shape. Buckle up, because these enhancements are set to revolutionize the way you manage your hotel. Let's dive in!
Cleaning Management:
We're proud to announce the release of our revamped Cleaning Management system! This update gives you the power to precisely control when and where your housekeeping staff clean, providing a level of detail that ensures every corner of your hotel sparkles.
Each room now features a customizable cleaning schedule, as shown in the linked screenshots above and below. This schedule allows you to set specific times of the day for cleaning orders, with more frequent cleanings for high-traffic areas and facilities. No more cleaners magically knowing where the dirt is – they need to be either manually called by you or directed by the room's cleaning schedule.
You are also able to set a priority for each room and can set which housekeeping facility (and by proxy which housekeepers) will be responsible for this room. This allows you to have specific housekeeping facilities/staff that can be responsible for certain areas of your hotel. Bedrooms don't work exactly the same way. A cleaning order is only created once the guest checkouts (guests don't mind if their room is dirty if they created it)
To help you stay on top of your cleaning game, we've introduced a new cleaning info view (shown below). This handy tool visualizes the state of each room, indicating whether it has been cleaned, is waiting to be cleaned, or has been neglected for over a day. With this new system, you'll have unparalleled control over your hotel's cleanliness, preparing you for exciting future updates and features.
Mac / Linux Users:
Unfortunately due to an external service deprecating a feature we were unable to get Mac and Linux built and published with this update. We are working on it and hope to have both OS published with this version very soon.
Upcoming Updates:
While we've been fine-tuning the cleaning system, we're also hard at work on some crucial maintenance changes, which we expect to release very soon. Maintenance issues will no longer be automatically reported; instead, they'll need to be noticed by staff members in the room. This makes regular room visits by cleaners and other staff more important than ever.
To ensure smooth operations, we've made it easier for you to manually report issues and set their priority. This added layer of strategy means you'll need to keep a keen eye on your hotel's condition. Just like with the cleaning updates, these maintenance changes pave the way for more complex management elements, including future disaster scenarios.
Speaking of disasters, get pumped for some exciting (and potentially fiery) challenges coming your way! In our upcoming Checking In: Reports, we'll delve deeper into these new disaster features that are in the works and how they'll impact your hotel management strategy. Stay tuned, magnates – the best is yet to come!
So, gear up for these fantastic new systems and prepare to take your hotel management skills to the next level. Your luxurious establishment is about to become more efficient and dazzling than ever!

Checking In: Report #45
Hey there, Fellow Magnates! Welcome back to another exciting regular update on all things Hotel Magnate! This time, we’re diving into some much-anticipated updates to our cleaning and maintenance systems. These changes are designed to give you even more control over your hotels and ensure everything is running smoothly. Let’s get into the nitty-gritty details!
Cleaning Management Progress & Testing
In our previous updates, we've discussed some upcoming changes to our cleaning management system. We're thrilled to announce that these enhancements have now entered the testing phase! The revamped cleaning management will allow you to meticulously assign specific cleaners to designated areas and schedule their cleaning times. This added control is aimed at helping you maintain spotless facilities and prevent potential disasters. We need your invaluable feedback to refine these features, so please join our Discord for more details on testing and to share your thoughts! (read the pinned post in the testing channel)
Here you can see the updated settings for cleaning in the new Room Settings menu. Control the priority of the room, which housekeeping facility is responsible for the room, if there are any incoming cleaners and the ability to change the cleaning schedule
Maintenance Changes
While we’re fine-tuning the cleaning system, we've also been working hard on refining maintenance operations. Say goodbye to the days of automatic maintenance issue reporting. From now on, maintenance problems must be noticed by staff in the affected area before they are reported. This change emphasizes the importance of regular staff patrols to catch issues early. Additionally, you’ll now have the power to manually report and prioritize maintenance tasks, adding another layer of strategy to your management toolkit. Just like the cleaning changes, these updates are crucial steps toward implementing more complex disaster and consequence systems in the future.
That's all for this update, Magnates! We hope you’re as excited as we are about these new features. Don't forget to hop onto our Discord to participate in testing and provide feedback. Until next time, happy hotel building!

Checking In: Report #44
Greetings, fellow Magnates! Welcome back to another exciting update on the progress of Hotel Magnate. As always, we're thrilled to have you here with us as we delve into the latest developments of Hotel Magnate. In this Checking In Report, we've got some progress to share regarding our ongoing work on cleaning management and the upcoming disasters and consequences update. So, without further ado, let's dive right in!
Cleaning Management:
As mentioned in our last post, we've been hard at work refining our cleaning management system. We understand the importance of keeping your hotels pristine and your guests happy. That's why we're rolling out a separate update soon, dedicated solely to improving cleaning management. We're on the brink of entering private testing, which means you'll soon have access to better tools to prevent some of those pesky consequences that can arise from less-than-stellar cleaning routines. While the bulk of our work is nearly complete, we're still fine-tuning the user interface. There's a lot to consider as we add more interactions and decision-making processes to how cleaners go about their daily routines. Rest assured, we're working tirelessly to ensure that managing your hotel's cleanliness is as seamless and intuitive as possible.
We have added a new "info view" where you can see the cleaning states of your different rooms. This will be accessed from the toolbar at the top of the screen. The different states represent whether the room was cleaned according to your chosen cleaning schedule. You can also set here which housekeeping facilities are responsible for which rooms.
Clicking on those states allows for a few options like adjusting the cleaning schedule for that room or manually requesting a cleaner come and clean it now
We have also moved the lighting information and the new cleaning information to a new location where you can manage these settings in one place for the whole room. (cleaning is managed at a room level and not per facility). For cleaning you can set a priority and adjust its schedule where you choose how often in the day it should be cleaned. These points throughout the day are when 'orders' are created to come clean the room. its up to you to make sure enough staff are available to fulfill these orders.
All of these features and more should give you a lot more control in your cleaning routines. We are also working on making sure that the default settings for these rooms are good enough that new players or people who care less about the management of them won't be too impacted.
Disasters and Consequences Update:
Now, let's talk about the disasters and consequences update. We've been gathering feedback from our incredible community, and we're hard at work designing a robust system that will truly put your management skills to the test. While we're still refining the details, it's looking like the most likely features to be included are fire, vermin infestations, and the dreaded food poisoning (gastro). We want to keep you on your toes and ensure that running your hotel is anything but predictable. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to fine-tune this exciting addition to Hotel Magnate!
