New in v1.0 - List that we can remember doing but there's more
New Hotel!
There’s a big event coming, yes it’s The Dolphin and Monkey Mincemeat companies annual Charity Auction and you’re hosting - they could probably do with a hand setting up.
New Mini-game
Ever wanted to live out the Street Fighter II fantasy? Well, The Devil has a serious case of Envy.
New Setlists
Doubled the Setlists, 10 now available with several completely new mini-games specially designed for Setlist competition.
New weapons!
A fully automatic submachine gun. The modern art paint job tries to disguise that fact but it is pretty dangerous. The Cattle prod - A mix of melee and handheld explosive, the standard electrical current holds 6 charges and will break most items, but when applied to electronics things really pop.
Weapon upgrades
New challenges that unlock upgraded attributes, skins and even new features! Laser sights and silencers are just cool!
Selfi-cam
Take pictures, share them via social integration and even share a 3rd person view of your shenanigans on screen!
Balancing
I covered this in more detail in the previous post but easier to tool up and easier to progress.
Player looks
Yeah the brown-haired-male lead is a Video Game cliche so we added more customisation on your look, different sexes, skin tones and hairstyles, all as arrogant as the next. Not enough games have face tattoos on their lead character - looking at you Nathan Drake.
Vacuum robot in The Loco Lounge
He’ll clean up after you which is nice, sometimes he’ll break things by accident, stupid but cute.
Quality of life:
Prop hunt UI - highlight shader
Microwave functionality
Death doesn’t slow movement so you have a chance to escape before kicking it.
Additional animations
Playable instruments
Throwable kegs and TVs
Optimisations
Bugs destroyed / improved leaderboards
Not to forget that a lot happened in Early Access!
Opened the Firing Range:
The firing range officially opened in the store. A new place to test out weapons, three rounds of pop-up dummies and a scoreboard.
Added Party Mode:
5 Setlists to be played with friends as Pass and Play or Solo against the world in Global Leaderboards.
Player customisation with Hats’n’Tats!
A range of looks featuring facial tattoos, nose piercings and the odd quiff.
Introduced Vanity Items upgrades:
Skull Rings, a Bandoleer and a Jock Strap all offer health or performance upgrades in addition to the cosmetic benefits.
New weapons / enhancers:
Do not disturb: to buy you some more time Antic-ide: Crazy liquid sword enhancer
WRM Support and various quality of life updates.
- We hope you enjoy destroying it as much as we've enjoyed making it!
Stay in touch,
Everyone at Wolf & Wood.

The world went and changed quite a bit we’ve kept the course and have v1.0 of Hotel R’n’R coming on the 28th May! A little later than expected but the upheaval of moving to our home offices, mine is mainly made out of garden furniture, has given us time to add a couple more bits of polish and a couple of surprises that might not have made it in otherwise.

There’s too much to reasonably fit into 1 post, so there will be more info and news to come about the other points over the next 12 days as we lead up to launch.
Follow us on Twitter for smaller updates in the meantime! Wolf & Wood Twitter
Balancing / item strength
We’ve heard that a few people have found the game to grind and that it can be hard early game to get smashing (we understand that not everyone is as burley as us games devs) so we’ve done lot to answer this:
Weapons are much cheaper now, so you can get to the next tier very quickly
We’ve added more Challenges so you can get more bonus cash
Early in the game Safe codes are handed to you every few rounds without the need to win them in Mini-games
The chance of getting a really overpowered safe item is now much higher, some are Really overpowered too
We made it a easier to break items, especially early in the game
The Jockstrap is even cheaper, so you can quickly gain a health boost
The new hotel means that there’s more ways to get Infamy and increase the cash multiplier early on
More character styles
Yeah the brown-haired-male lead is a Video Game cliche so we added more customisation on your look, different sexes, skin tones and hairstyles, all as arrogant as the next. Not enough games have face tattoos on their lead character - looking at you Nathan Drake.
Wiki
We’ll have a very comprehensive Wiki page for Hotel R’n’R that will be ready in the build up to v1.0. There will be plenty of insider tips and tricks for anyone looking to get the most out of each hotel.
Thanks, W&W team.
The Dolphin and Monkey Mince Company
Let’s face it, we’re not social media gurus, we’re feature grunts, working hard towards V1.0 of Hotel R’n’R, we’ve got all sorts of new stuff in the pipeline and it’s about time we started sharing.
For starters, There’s a whole new level in the works: The Dolphin and Monkey Mince Company Shareholders Charity Auction. We all know that guilty people do more for charity than anyone else and you’re there new challenges, Infamy conditions and let's face it, their dirty cash!
The new level will be unlocked between The Loco Lounge (Hotel 2) and Takeshita Inn (Hotel 3) and features a fully stocked Catering Kitchen, Main Hall, Stage and separate Sound Booth with control board for lights, music, crane and pyrotechnics!
This is part of the larger re-balancing we’re doing across the whole game: making it quicker to load up your Rider with top tier weapons. In addition to this, we’ve created a new challenge system that contains a range of meaty weapon upgrades for people who want to take it to the next level.
There will be more info about upgrades, weapons, mini-games, sandbox mode and other features in the weeks ahead as we gear up to full launch.
If there is anything you’d like to see in the future, please drop it in the discussions!
Cheers!
It's the Autumn Sale!
Everyone’s favourite narrative’smash’em’up VR game is on sale. Tell your friends, family and complete strangers by about it NOW!
Pass-and-play multiplayer and global leaderboards added!
The whole new “Party Mode” has been added to the TV in backstage, an arcade style mix of challenges and new game modes designed to create competition through Global Leaderboards or local pass-and-play.
The new mode is made up of “Setlists”, a group of 5 challenges that feature unusual weapon selections or completely new game modes designed exclusively for “Party Mode”. Not limited by single player “Infamy” progression, challenges will use a selection from the full arsenal of items available to create some weird or massively overpowered hotel challenges that make use of top tier weapons such as double revolvers and shotguns.
New rules and game modes vary the Setlists - shooting apples off the maid’s head in Hell or “Prop Squad”, a prop hunt style game where a random item in the hotel is made extremely volatile and is quietly ticking down. You need to quickly find it and carefully dispose of it in the rider - any knocks or bumps will lead to the item exploding and causing collateral damage to you and the hotel.
The World Tour hotels now have global leaderboards so you can compete to be the best with any rider setup. Infamy counts so playing the story is an advantage here. Party mode will ignore infamy and just let anyone jump in and play on a level playing field!
Get the “Frat Jerk” skin for free from the store to look like a douchebag - that’s what the maid said not us!
Cheers!
Double guns! New player upgrades, enhancer and a “Do not disturb” sign.
New Vanity Items
The new Vanity Items offer a range of health and performance upgrades that can be equipped in addition to the Rider items. A new “Vanity” slot is available and any of the following can be used to supplement your preferred rider setup. They also look cool.
Jockstrap - Damage resistance Protection cup offers 30% extra player health, how? Probably a confidence thing. Cost: $640
Fancy Rings - Punch harder A selection of pawned wedding rings, each tells a story that we don’t have time for. 25% increase in punch power and durability. Cost: $1,590
Skull Ring - Increased weapon durability Wanna look like a badass-pirate-biker? You need a Skull Ring! Oh and all rider melee weapons take 30% more damage. Cost: $14,710
Bandoleer - Double guns! As seen on the catwalks of Paris and every good spaghetti western, the Bandoleer doubles any guns in your rider. Weapons affected: Antique pistol, Revolver and Shotgun. Cost: $24,860
New rider items
Do not disturb Now available in Pawn to Die, the “Do not disturb” sign will stop the maid from attempting to enter the suite. You’re free to continue your rampage, she will simply see the homemade sign and turn back without trying the locks. Cost: $2,350
Antic-ide Enter the Antic-ide, an enhancer that grants you a magic sword and super-slow-mo time, anything the sword touches immediately breaks with a blast of 1970s kung-fu action. It’s OP but the price tag reflects that. We’ve halved the cost of the mind control enhancer, Mindylphen, to balance it out. Cost: $42,010
Goth look Is your soul filled with ravens and darkness, is your real name Brian? This could be the look for you. Cost $1,000
Updates
Additional improvements to the Pride mini-game scoring.
Optimisations for the Black Hole performance.
Removed old system for connecting Valve controllers and replaced with a new and improved one - you are not required to be switch the controllers on at the start and the check is optimised, this will aid performance for all SteamVR users.
Hotel rider is now cycled through by touch and punch rather than hover and press.
Reduced threshold for safe codes to 40% for people with Infamy above 6.
General bug fixes.
What next?
We’re working on a big update called “Party Mode”, an arcade mode that will have “Setlist” groups of challenges which can be played in a group pass-and-play or solo with global leaderboards for each set.
Each Setlist will be a group of different challenges between different hotels, there will be timed or weapon specific challenges that don’t have the usual Maid, Manager and Security routine. The challenges will use a mixture of all weapons, enhancers and modifiers even if you don’t have them unlocked in World Tour and we plan to create a starter set so that it is quick and easy to get friends and family involved.
Along with leaderboards for Setlists we’re looking into leaderboards for each hotel, there is a lot to consider but we’ll keep the discussions up to date with progress.
Firing Range and a new wardrobe!
WMR now supported!
Firing Range: The firing range is officially open in the store. A new place to test out weapons, three rounds of pop-up dummies and a scoreboard.
T-Shirt cannon supercharged: The T-Shirt cannon is a much more formidable weapon. More power, better handles items, especially the powerball and beer cans.
Hats’n’Tats! We created 4 additional looks for your character, each around different musical subcultures that we’re fans of at Wolf & Wood:
Smash it up! A Punk from the Kings Road in London
The man in black, a tight Rockabilly quiff and black shirt.
The dirt, a pure 80s Metal look with headband and
Lil’Rapper, complete with facial tattoos.
They’re purely for vanity and you can pick them up in Pawn-to-die for a very reasonable $1,000.
Along with this we’ve been working on additional features and improvements for the fire system, the oil spray now allows you to instantly light items
General improvements and minor bug fixes.
Patch 0.1.6 Now Live
Improvements to the hotel staff item-collision, eggs and plates now have more impact on the staff.
Matched unlocking items backstage to correlate with the hotel unlocks.
Backstage now has more breakable items.
Fix for saving data when the Steam username contains non-standard characters.
It’s now possible to shoot beer cans from the T-Shirt cannon, further T-Shirt cannon updates coming soon.
Player facial animations now change with hand gestures to make you look 38% more arrogant.
