ATTENTION! New Camp Save and Character Save Formats
ATTENTION!
New Camp Save and Character Save Formats
As of the release of the new How To Survive 2: 1.0 version on Thursday we have implemented a new easier save game system for Camp saves and Character saves per all of your comments and requests during Early Access. We have waited until the end of Early Access in that this new system is not compatible with the old Camp and Character save files. This means that everyone starting play with the new 1.0 version will need to restart their Camps and Characters. With the new save structure you will be able to enjoy being able to move your characters to any camp, local or online, public or private. There will be 4 character slots available and up to 5 online camps you can create. You may also change your camp from public to private and conversely at any time. We have also implemented a backup system that will save backups of your cloud character info on your local machine in case your current cloud save file becomes corrupted or lost.
We are sorry for any inconvenience that this change may cause you, our valued players, but we hope that everyone will really enjoy the new format with it being more flexible and easier to use.

Welcome to the Launch of How to Survive 2! On Sale!
Welcome to How to Survive 2!
We have transitioned from Early Access to full release today! For those of you who have been with us since Early Access, welcome back. To those of you who are new, Welcome to Louisiana!
We received a message from Kovac this morning to welcome you all into the bunker.
Dear Survivors!
I am glad to see you have found me! I wasn't sure you would make it, but I was hopeful. I have been working long and hard over the months to build a bunker here, in Louisiana, and to notify other survivors by broadcasting a message around the world through the use of pylons.
Now that you are here, you will find things a bit different than on the islands. But have no fear, I don't, and be confident in your zombie slaughtering capabilities, like me, survivor. We can work together and with others to combat the walking flesh bags that threatening our very survival!
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to visit the forums and one of my minions will assist you.
Once again, welcome!
~Kovac

Hello Survivors!
Due to your continued support of my wacky wisdom, I have gifted all of you who purchased the game before release with an Abandoned Backpack. Now, please, don't ask me where it came from and we will both be better off. Enjoy this gift from me to you. You should find your pack items in your bunker trunk.
For my friends who have waited patiently to come down to the bunker and learn more rules of survival, I also have an Abandoned Backpack available for you. There is just one catch, it requires a blood sacrifice! Nah, just kidding comrade! For a mere $1.99, you can also sport the Dual Knives, Winter Hat and Black Crow and be ready for an apocalyptic fashion show!
See you in the bunker survivors!

Game Release and Server Reset Information
Dear Survivors,
First, we'd like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your participation on this Early Access journey with us. Through blood, sweat and tears -- well, zombie blood anyway -- we have created a sequel to How to Survive 1 that brings you out of the islands into New Orleans with more Kovac shenanigans. Although we had a few bumps in the road (but who doesn't) through your feedback, suggestions, and bug reports we feel we have created a game you will be excited to play.
Second, release is tomorrow morning at 6am PST, 1pm GMT. All servers will be down for maintenance from 4am-6am PST, 11am-1pm GMT. Please note that due to a comprehensive overhaul of the save game structure, we are completely wiping servers beforehand. This wipe will remove everything from the server including your camp, your experience and your character. Old camp and character saves will not be compatible. When the servers come back online tomorrow, you will notice the new save structure by enjoying one character that can join any camp, local or online, public or private. There will be 4 character slots available and up to 5 online camps. You may also change your camp from public to private and conversely. Also, all characters will generate a backup locally on your machine.
Last, please continue to post comments, feedback, suggestions and bug reports on our forums as we will be monitoring them and game performance to decide our next steps. So stay tuned!

[LIVE] August 22 - More Language Support & Release Date
Dear Survivors,
When we began Early Access back in 2015 we stated that we wanted to have a final game by summer 2016. And we can now announce that we will be launching How to Survive 2 on September 8th 2016.
For the past few months, we have been working with you to enhance, widen and shape How to Survive 2 by taking in account requests and suggestions from the forums. We would like to thank everyone for their feedback by making sure that you get a nice pack of Early Access items. So anyone who purchased the game before official launch will receive the Pet Crow, the Winter Hat and the Dual Knives. Those who purchase at launch and after will need to purchase them via DLC. We will be keeping the Primal Fear Armor for those who already own another How to Survive franchise game. The Voodoo Guitar will remain exclusive to players who purchased the game early (thank you, guys!).
We knew from our research that the community wanted a space where they could play with friends and freely create their own camps, so we focused in developing a system where you could invite other players and cooperate with them to survive.
The scenarios are now bigger than ever in the How to Survive franchise, introducing a variety of environments from swamps to suburban streets, sewers, farms, the French Quarter, etc. And we have populated it with infected hordes that include classic zombies, fast zombies, SWAT, exploding or mutilated zombies, farmers and more. You can also find a large catalogue of animals, infected or not, roaming the scenarios: alligators, turtles, pelicans, bears, deer, pigs, bunnies, etc.
You can come across over a dozen NPCs that will trigger dozens of quests with different mechanics: scavenge, timed challenges, escort and stealth missions. And, first among the locals, there is Kovac who will guide your steps to craft your gear, build your camp and fortify it. Following his recipes, you and your friends will be able to equip your survivors with amazing weapons and armors. And you can choose among dozens of skills to level up and create unique characters.
There has been exhaustive work tweaking and adjusting animations, controls, difficulty, leveling, etc. And, by the time that you read these lines, our plan is to have the game available into, at least, 11 languages! In our latest update today we have added language support for Korean, Thai and Turkish.
There will be one last content update at launch to bring new challenges and quests, camp modifications, new enemies, building, weapon and armor novelties and… a special surprise Kovac finale! We wanted to do something completely crazy and unexpected, just like Kovac. So don’t tell us… "Oh, I saw that coming…" because you didn’t. ;)
Upon game launch we will need to reset the servers which will mean all camps and characters will be reset back to the beginning. We have implemented a new save structure that is a bit more simplified than what we had during Early Access which we hope will clear up a number of issues that users have reported to us. Along with the save update we are also releasing all the game Achievements for the game which will require you to start from a fresh launch. The quest structure has been updated and finalized so we hope everyone will have a nice story quest flow that will lead up to our new ultra-exciting story ending.
After the game launch we will be monitoring the forums and game performance to decide our next steps. So stay tuned!

We are getting closer to the release window we had in mind (Summer 2016) and we are currently sticking with it. We would like to thank all of you for your feedback, especially those who filled out the survey, which has help us identify the main areas of interest. You provided great valuable information and we are figuring what we can reasonably fit in the development schedule.
We found out there is a general interest in more content, tweaks in game play and technical features and closure on quest lines (specially for Kovac). So we are laying the plans to bring more living and undead threats, new locations, more items and recipes, new NPC and different quests from today until final release. We understood some of those quest branches need to be available early in the game cycle to smooth the experience of the new survivors. As well, we are considering the final quests for Kovac understanding we need to make them whacky enough to honor our favorite master survivalist.
That will be the most visible work but we will also do a lot of technical enhancements and tweaking and balancing of game play in weapons, enemies, dynamics, etc hoping that you get enough hours of Coop Zombie Crafting Survival Fun!
Today you can find the SWAT FORCES Update Live on the main branch:
