Discord Community Q&A Event with Tomas Sakalauskas
Greetings, Humans!
We’ve been blown away by the love and support for Human Fall Flat VR since we announced it to the world! It’s been great to see so many fans of the original game excited to jump back in and play the game in a completely new way. Likewise, we’re also really excited to see players who are completely new to the game join us for the very first time!
While reading through your comments we know that many of you have a lot of questions. So we thought we’d open up the floor for you to drop us your questions, and we’ll try to answer what we can in a follow up news post! You can submit your questions using this form.
We are hosting a very special event with Human Fall Flat creator Tomas Sakalauskas, who will be answering the questions YOU submitted on Discord. The event will be held on the 24th October at 6PM BST/10AM PT, so mark your calendars and don’t miss out!
We welcome anyone to come along to learn more about the game, how development went (or just to hang out!)
You can find a link to our Discord, where the event will be taking place here: discord.gg/hff
Finally, if you haven’t already, check out our first Dev Blog where we introduce the team behind the development of the game!

Curve Games and No Brakes Games are excited to announce that Human Fall Flat VR is coming to VR platforms at the end of this month.
We will be running a few behind-the-scenes dev blogs between now and the release of the VR edition. Today we’d like to introduce you to the SneakyBox team who have worked hard over the last year to bring this challenging project to life.
The original idea for Human Fall Flat VR came from within the Human community - the talented Raicuparta. Human Fall Flat creator Tomas Sakalauskas contacted Raicuparta to acknowledge their popular VR mod and discuss bringing out an official VR version.
“I am a huge fan of VR games and VR controls bring something special to Human Fall Flat. I’m excited that players will soon be able to play Human Fall Flat in VR.” said Tomas.
The Lithuanian connection
To bring Human Fall Flat VR to the players, No Brakes Games and Curve Games spoke to several potential developers and in the end, a local team from Lithuania, SneakyBox, was signed to do VR treatment to this awesome game.
The project development team consisted of three developers, one QA specialist, one producer, and one tech artist. The project took 10 months to complete in total. And in the end, almost a dozen people worked on the VR edition of this widely popular game.
Why not a first-person view?
We’ve read your posts, and we understand this sentiment. Many of you have asked why we didn’t switch to a first-person perspective for the VR port, especially as it’s so common in other VR games.
To put things simply, while a first-person perspective offers a more immersive experience, in this particular instance you would vomit like those kids in the Dennis the Menace movie.
Human’s movements could’ve been stabilized, but then Human wouldn’t be Human. The game itself would have turned into a box-carrying and walking sim. That’s not the essence of Human Fall Flat, and sacrificing wobbly heads was not on the books.
By maintaining a third-person perspective, the original Human Fall Flat experience was preserved, while still providing a satisfying VR adaptation. The wobbliness adds a layer of chaos and unpredictability, and the stable third-person camera lets you keep your lunch in your stomach, where it belongs.
Favorite things to do in VR
We asked SneakyBox team about their favorite things to do in Human Fall Flat VR and the top activity was throwing friends out of the map and then dabbing to mark the occasion. There was also a lot of love shared for the physics puzzles that usually require finicky hand movements. They feel more intuitive in VR, as the player has better hand control and coordination. (Oh, and it’s easier to cheat-climb the walls too!)

Resolved an issue where the cannon balls could only be fired once.
Resolved an issue where the vases may move unintentionally after being placed on the scale.
Resolved multiple issues where checkpoint reloads could prevent the player from completing the level.
Adjusted collision in some areas to prevent the player from clipping into objects.
Get ready for a very tricky night in the Museum and a surprise reveal...
Hello Humans,
Prepare yourself for a tricky new extraction challenge in our next official free update... to extract one exhibit that most definitely does not belong in a museum. Museum is the winning entry from our recent Workshop competition.
Don’t expect a welcome mat when you arrive! Before you can reach your target in the museum itself, you’ll have to make your way through the murky sewers that lie beneath the building.
First, smash your way into the sewer systems, gather enough power to lift up the ladder, and then manipulate a collection of cranes and fans to make your way into the museum courtyard.
From here it’s a case of delicately navigating your way up onto the glass roof, ever-so-expertly slicing your way through it, solving one of the intriguing exhibition puzzles, and then flying around on the fountain’s water jets to reach your final objective.
(Oh, and to get hold of the precious idol itself you’ll also need to dodge lasers, blast a hole in the wall, blow up a vault and deactivate the security systems you find inside - but these are mere details. We know you’re more than up to the challenge…)

Workshop Competition Deadline Approaches!
Hello Humans,
Just a reminder that our Workshop Level Creation Competition ends on July 16th. Only 4 weeks to go!
Key Reminders for Your Submissions:
Themes: Choose from Lost in Time, Heists, or Fairytales, and make sure you have fun!
Human Fall Flat Style: Take inspiration from classic levels like Aztec and Castle, where gameplay mechanics such as falling platforms showcase the forces of gravity and momentum. Incorporate elements like a pendulum motion on a swinging lantern or using a pole for mechanical advantage to pry open doors. Leverage, exemplified by placing a pole under a slab and jumping on it, is another key concept. The goal is to creatively integrate these physics principles creatively, keeping the spirit of the game's beloved levels alive.
Prize: The winner will receive $10,000 USD and see their level featured in the game.
If you're having trouble adding those finishing touches to your Level Creation, don't fret! Be sure to visit Gotcha's comprehensive step-by-step workshop guide on YouTube for expert tips and guidance.
*if you've already submitted an entry, here's some good news: You're more than welcome to tweak, enhance, and resubmit your creations. It's a great opportunity to revisit your work with fresh eyes, make those adjustments you've been thinking about, and really polish your level to perfection.
We are looking forward to seeing your improved entries!

Workshop Competition Deadline Extended!
Hello Humans,
Great news – we're extending our Workshop Level Creation Competition until July 16th, 2024! We're still searching for that perfect level that truly captures the spirit of Human Fall Flat.
Keep it real, especially for the fairytale theme: Miniature and Underwater are great examples! In both levels, the fairytale element comes from the creative and imaginative design of the environments. The charm and wonder are enhanced through the level's strong visual themes, not through breaking the laws of physics. This approach allows for a magical feeling while keeping the gameplay rooted in realistic mechanics. For example, you might need to navigate through a small-scale model of a town, but instead of using magic to move objects, you use levers, push buttons, and apply force - all based on physics principles.
We believe there's more creativity out there, and this extension is your chance to shine! *
Prize: The winner will receive $10,000 USD and see their level featured in the game.
New Deadline: Submit by 11 pm GMT, July 16th, 2024.
If you're having trouble adding those finishing touches to your Level Creation, don't fret! Be sure to visit Gotcha's comprehensive step-by-step workshop guide on YouTube for expert tips and guidance.
We're excited to see your innovative and physics-focused levels!
