We have been hard at work preparing our next update and we are very glad to say it is here!
Our last announcement gave you the teasers of what we are working on and here is the first content delivery from that.
Story Contracts.
These contracts will follow individual story arc’s from various companies and…sources. They will provide valuable rewards such as diagrams and modules not found in the shop. You will be given choices in some of the contracts that range from helping out the company, helping yourself or working for the common good.
Magnetosphere Upgrades
Part of the story contracts includes the long road to a radiation hardened ship. Completing the relevant contracts will unlock more uses of the magnetosphere to allow you to explore, survey and haul back rare resources without taking damage. These upgrades require a new type of module and associated cable, the Vector Modules and Cables.
Radiation and resource distribution overhaul
With the Magnetosphere now up-gradable we have overhauled the radiation system and the distribution system of resources. The overall range you can now explore safely can be extended with each Magnetosphere upgrade and the further into danger you go the more rare the elements will be. You can still push out into the dangerous areas earlier, if you are willing to take the risk of damage, and with some surprise rewards from the story contracts you might find it easier than you think.
Circuit Diagrams Overhaul
We have listened to your feedback and as part of this update have amended how the circuit diagrams work. Among the various changes the most obvious is how cables are displayed. Each one will have a starting point (depicted as a hollow circle) and an endpoint (depicted as an arrow) to show clearly where it comes from, where it will plug into and what direction data will flow.
While this update contains these features we are still working on adding heat management, new contract types, memory modules and more story arc’s that will include the new types of contract.
So stay tuned and stay frosty out there. I Fetch Rocks Team

May Progress Update
Hello everyone!
Since our last release of challenges we have been toiling away on the next few updates and we are excited to say they are coming along nicely!
Here is a snippet of what we are working on:
Story Driven Contracts
The current contracts are going to be staying but alongside them there will be “Special Contracts” with distinctive stories and rewards.
These will range from gathering large amounts of ore’s to finding specific rocks to analyse. They will reward you with Credits, Circuit Diagrams, Ship Upgrades, New Elements and more! Some of them might be …morally questionable.. but it’s your decision if the rewards justify the means.
Story Contracts will have new contract types including a “Delivery” that will test your accuracy in flinging containers down a predetermined path for delivery outside the belt. If you miss the vector, smash the container or generally make a mistake then you will be billed for damages placing you in debt with that company and losing reputation!
Speaking of reputation, this is another item we are working on. When completing contracts for a company you will earn reputation points with them. The more reputation you have with a company the greater your rewards from them will be. Simple? It sure is… unless of course you make mistakes, take too long or generally annoy them.. Then you will lose reputation just as quickly as you made it!!
Ship Upgrades
We are working on a number of upgrades that you will be able to earn from completing story contracts. These include (but are not limited to):
Magentosphere upgrades
Harden your ship to radiation to allow you to explore further out with various Magentosphere upgrades.
Spectro Pulse Analyser
Blanket the immediate area with a single pulse of analytical light that will be able to point you in the right direction for your desired element.
Modules
Unique modules can be earned via the story contracts that will expand your capabilities. One such module is the memory module but.. I forget what it does….oh yeh! It lets you store values on memory drives and recall them later.
Memory Drive
Not only for storing your own values but can be rewarded pre-configured with unique coordinates that will take you to special rocks that are high value or .. low value depending what the contract is for.
Circuit Diagrams
Be rewarded with in-game diagrams to upgrade your ship to auto-tethers, warning systems, thruster “boosters” , flashing lights and more!
Vectors
New cable type and modules to meet your vector calculating needs.
Hazards
Radiation getting you down? Then don't despair, more hazards are on the way!
Temperature - Balancing your O2 / CO can be tricky so we thought that adding temperature controls in that mix would help! Don't fancy freezing out there in the cold? Don't let your power go out! With the diagrams for alarms earned from the story contracts we are certain this will be easy to handle……
Radiation - Radiation is also going to be reworked to improve the risk vs reward. If you want to earn those high value contracts you are going to need to venture into some hard radiation zones to get them. Make sure you take some spares with you or have earned the magnetosphere upgrades.
That is a snapshot of what we are working on and we hope it whets your appetite for the next few updates.
Until next time spacers
