Today we implemented yet another patch for IL-2 Sturmovik: Desert Wings - Tobruk, which brings many bugfixes and several small, but noticeable improvements to the game!

Bugfix: Supercharger cycle command now works. [MicroWave]
Bugfix: Tomahawk pit - gunsight marks now show correct distance and target size. [MicroWave]
New Campaign "Their Greatest Challenge" A new 10-mission Bf-109 campaign, free for all owners of the base game. [Cybermat47]
Bugfixes: G.50 pit - swapped trigger and brakes, carburetor heater and altimeter pinion animated, fixed front pressure gauges. [MicroWave]
Biplane Flag [ATAG_Oskar] Flight Model now has a biplane flag, true for biplanes.
FMB Wind Speed and Direction [ATAG_Oskar] Wind speed is now in kph. Wind direction is from 0 to 360 degrees with the value representing where the wind is coming from.
Faster "Lean to gunsight" motion [OBT~Mikmak]
New: BaseMissionPath added to Mission object [Oskar] As a convenience for mission script writers. This value is calculated when the mission is started so if you have moved your mission from the directory it was developed in the value will still be correct.

Single Mission "A Busy Morning": revised Blenheim bomber and fighter flights speeds. [Cybermat47]
Single Mission "Aftershocks": changed No. 82 SQN's flight path and updated their briefings (all languages) with a more accurate speed. [Cybermat47]
Single Mission "Kanalkampf": moved II./JG 51 Bf-109s to their historical airbase of Marquise West, changed static Bf-109 E-4s to E-3s. [Cybermat47]
Campaign "Their Finest Hour" and single missions "A Busy Morning", "Attack of the Eagles", "Attack of the Kiwi", "August Attrition", "Corpo Aereo Italiano", "Corpo Aereo Italiano II", and "Kanalkampf": removed or moved objects that were clipping through airfield structures at Marquise West. Campaign "Their Finest Hour": revised enemy bomber formations to have better spacing and composition in missions 5 and 6. [Cybermat47]
Campaign "Their Finest Hour": added a new and improved poster by Bazwelle, added moving vehicles to player airfield in missions 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10, and expanded briefings for missions 4, 6, 7, and 8. [Cybermat47]

New Single Player Campaign Announcement.
A few months ago, we released the Cliffs of Dover Blitz campaign Their Finest Hour. Today, we're proud to officially announce a 10-mission companion campaign: Their Greatest Challenge!
It is July, 1940. The Luftwaffe has emerged victorious over Poland, Scandinavia, the Low Countries, and France. Jagdgeschwader 2 Richthofen now eagerly awaits the chance to cross the English Channel and defeat the final obstacle in their path to victory.
But the RAF will soon prove to be a more fearsome, determined, and cunning opponent than expected, while the vastness of the English Channel swallows up any aircraft too damaged or starved of fuel to cross it.
This is the greatest challenge the Luftwaffe has faced yet - and its aura of invincibility is about to be broken forever.
All players will receive Their Greatest Challenge for free in the next update, as well as the new single mission Defiant to the End. Desert Wings - Tobruk owners will also receive the free single mission Darkness Over Derna at the same time.

VR Users, the wait is nearly over!
Hello All,
We will be creating a private, passworded STEAM BETA for VR users to test our Beta VR Implementation in the next few weeks.
There will not be any restrictions on the number of users who may participate. However, there will be a cutoff date for applications... after the cutoff date, we will not take any more applicants.
This thread is an invitation to all those who qualify. Below are the requirements for community members to apply:
- Must own both BLITZ and TOBRUK (Beta will incorporate both games... anyone who doesn't have TOBRUK will not be able to use the Beta)
- Must own an up to date/fully supported VR headset
- A .jpg or other visual record of the player's VR headset, serial number, manufacturer and model will be required to be submitted with an application. We need this to determine if there are any issues with particular types of VR hardware.
- Application received by February 15th 2022 latest
There is no use in those who do not have VR testing this Beta... there will be an opportunity to test the full Visual Update in a public Beta later. In the meantime we ask those community members who do not have VR systems to have a bit more patience.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Desert Wings - Tobruk hotfix for v5.029a
With certain joystick/hotas/controller setups the Spitfire's Landing Gear Warning Horn is always on when Gear is up
This hotfix disables the Gear Warning Horn until we find the bug.

This mission is set in the morning of the ground assault on the fortress of Tobruk. British ground forces will be attacking the southeast sector of the perimeter and warships have been deployed offshore to provide fire support. Italian and German aircraft are tasked with disrupting ground attacks and attacking enemy warships.
This battle will be a multi-hour dogfight over Tobruk and area.
Who will be enjoying a martini in Tobruk at the end of this day?

Localisations, Fixed Loop Radio Compass Operation - > Russian.pdf
Missions: Added flak defences to the Auderville Freya radar site in the missions Aftershocks, Battle Goes On, No Respite, Solent Skirmishes, and Southampton Blitz.
VR WIP - GUI Implemented in VR Beta - Cliffs of Dover Blitz/Desert Wings Tobruk
The GUI is now working in VR, including splash screen, home screen, selection screens and cockpit mouse interactions.
The minimap and 2D overlays are in good way.
As you can see in the video, there is some flickering in the virtual screen that needs to be fixed and will be.
We are getting closer to releasing the VR Beta to a selected group of participants... will be posting more details in the next few weeks hopefully.

Patch 5.028 hotfix2
Under certain (hitherto unknown) circumstances the 2D target dot for an approaching aircraft ceased to be rendered a little moment before the 3D model starts to render, making the aircraft seemingly disappear for a moment.
