We know you won't want to spend time reading when The Mask of Pain comes out, so we're giving you the Patch Notes early :D
‼️ NOTE - These will only apply when the release goes live at 3pm UTC ‼️
Full notes on The Mask of Pain will be released when the feature goes live!

Design:
* Added the Cursed One as a new character class. This class will collect a curse from each mainline boss, and is intended for hardcore players.
* Implemented a brand new Tutorial area

UI:
* Made small changes to the inventory UI to make it clearer which consumables are equipped
* Replaced mouse instructions with icons

Bugs:
* Fixed a bug that marked the Emerald Monitor-Gun as non-fire
* Fixed a bug that used the wrong projectile FX for the Silver Spear
* Fixed a crash on the weapons menu when the player would switch weapons very quickly
* Fixed a crash when creating a point of interest for enemy drones
* Fixed a bug where you reject using a consumable and then can move and attack with the inventory open.
* Fixed a cenotaph typo
* Rectified the Iska intro SFX stopping on end cutscene

Cursed feature revealed!


“... and cursed they would be. The Azurians loathed wickedness and forged "The Mask of Pain" which would curse its wearer for all eternity.”



We’re really excited to be revealing the full details of the Mask of Pain expansion for Immortal: Unchained, which will be a free expansion for the base game.

The Azurian Mask of Pain is an ancient device that was built as the most severe kind of punishment for Azurian prisoners. With the expansion, you can start a new game as the Cursed One, who is fitted with the Mask of Pain.

The mask makes the final death curses of your enemies linger for eternity, and the Cursed One will grow more and more afflicted throughout the game. In effect this means that we are adding a new class that will be bestowed a curse after defeating each of the main bosses. After every fight you will be asked to choose between 2 curses, which are unique to the boss, and in following NG+ playthroughs, you can either choose a stronger version of the same curse or choose to have both curses instead.



As with NG+ there will be new achievements added with the update, but these won’t count towards the completionist achievement.

When we release the feature we will also include an update to the game’s tutorial. We feel that the current tutorial doesn’t fully live up to the rest of the game, and therefore we decided to restructure it a bit to give the game a more exciting start. It is always important to us that the games we make are in the state we think they deserve, and we believe that it is a better entry point for new players.

When we released Immortal: Unchained we said that we wanted to support the game with both paid and free updates. Both the Mask of Pain and the tutorial update will be released as free updates and we estimate both releases to be in late January or early February.

We are really excited to release this feature, and hope that you feel the same!

A year of Immortal: Unchained


Hello Immortals!

As the year is coming to an end, we wanted to send a message and a warm greeting to all of you in our community. It has been a very exciting year for us, starting back in March when we had the public Alpha. The Alpha showed us that there was great potential in the game but also that some areas needed adjusting. That lead to some fairly big changes in our game that we just managed to get ready in time for release, incl. free-aim, no stamina consumption on guns, and limited ammo. Whilst these changes seem like minor adjustments, we know that they all added to the special experience of Immortal: Unchained together with the story, level design, and those damn teleporting enemies.

Since launch, we have tried to balance our time between polishing what is already there and expanding the game. Most recently, we of course released New Game+, but there are also other things coming in the New Year, which we are really, really looking forward to sharing with you.

Finally, we want to thank you all in the community. For expressing the joy of playing Immortal, for reporting bugs, for suggesting balance changes, and for letting us know how much you "love" those DAMN TELEPORTING ENEMIES!

Immortal: Unchained is the first game we at Toadman Interactive have fully developed ourselves, but we look forward to sharing many more with you in the future. Here is to 2019 and we wish you all a Happy New Year!
