We at RumbleWare are happy to announce that our Kickstarter will be dropping on August 21st, 2022.
That's 15 days until we can get this game in your hands for free! We're really excited to showcase what we have in store, and will be dropping gameplay clips, information, and more leading up until the launch.
Indie Rumble June Blog Post 2022
Hello! We’re really excited to share some game-changing news in today’s blog post.
The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For:
We are extremely excited to announce that Indie Rumble will be holding a month-long Kickstarter to help fund the game!
There were many things that brought us to this decision, but ultimately they all stemmed from the desire to create the most high-quality product possible. As a team, we have been working since the Winter of last year on the game without funding, so in order to continue with development we felt Kickstarter would be the best approach.
Along with this Kickstarter, we will be holding an open beta test for the duration of the Kickstarter. This demo will come included with 2 characters, 4 stages, local versus and online modes, as well as a basic training mode! This open beta will be available for a month.
For any questions, we’ll be happy to answer them on our Discord Server.
It's Time To Set The Stage:
Welcome to The Rumbledome! The Indie Rumble defacto stage features a wide variety of familiar faces:
Roster Changes:
Like many other games, we’ve had our growing pains as the scope of the game has expanded. We want to put the proper time and care into each character we’re adding to the roster. In order to do so, we realized that our initial goal of a 20-character roster started to become less and less feasible. As such, we’re sad to announce that Tasty Ramen will no longer be part of our roster of playable characters. Tasty is still eligible for potential DLC once the game is fully out. Tasty’s stage; The Shop, will still remain a part of the base stage list and will not be removed.
In addition, we will be cutting down our roster size from an over-ambitious 20 fighters to 15. The Kid from I Wanna Be The Guy, will be released post-launch. Considering the rest of the roster, this leaves us with 2 open slots for unrevealed characters. With this, we think that our scope is now way more realistic. This being said, these will be the final roster changes to Indie Rumble.
Because we value transparency with our community, this is something we felt was important to share now.
Our full-launch roster will include the following characters (in no particular order):
Launch Characters: 1) Rhythm Knights (Rhythm Knights) 2) Peppino (Pizza Tower) 3) Captain Viridian (VVVVVV) 4) Yolk (Leap Day) 5) Alex (YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG) 6) Chubby (Mission in Snowdriftland) 7) Tough Love Fighters (Tough Love Arena) 8) Crow (Nefarious) 9) Welltaro (Downwell) 10) Brian (Yuppie Psycho) 11) Spark (Spark the Electric Jester) 12) Chizuru (Super Ledgehop: Double Laser) 13) Ding (Wanba Warriors) 14) ??? (???) 15) ??? (???)
Post-Launch Characters: 16) The Kid (I Wanna Be The Guy)
Lots of Yolk (Yummy):
This month, the team focused on Yolk’s development. We’ve been careful to try and reference a large assortment of Nitrome’s ginormous catalog of games in their animations. Try and count the number of references you spot!
Up Air Back Air Grab Shield Break Down Air Down Tilt
(look at the stature of this lad)
We’re extremely thankful that Nitrome has allowed and encouraged his inclusion. Yolk is a short all rounder with great aerial options, and a chaotic move in his item throw neutral special.
Other than Yolk, the team focused on crafting an amazing game feel so that moves truly feel satisfying to land in Indie Rumble. Part of this, of course, is FX design:

Thanks for reading! We can't wait to get this game in your hands NEXT MONTH!
Indie Rumble May 2022 Blog Post
Earlier today we announced that Ding from Wanba Warriors would be joining Indie Rumble as a fully playable character. In this May 2022 Blog Post we'll be looking into why Ding is in the game, along with answering some questions in general.
So... Ding! What's Up With That?
For those who do not know, Ding is the first select-able character in Wanba Warriors, a platform-akin fighting game. Almost every Wednesday in the official Indie Rumble Discord Server, a group of members and moderators would play the game Wanba Warriors. Because of this, Ding quickly got on everyone's mind. Ding was one of our most requested characters.
So how does Ding work in a more traditional Platform Fighter? Ding uses a wide variety of moves from other warriors, including the alternate Dings.

While we've been fairly quiet throughout Indie Rumble's development, as per usual we're happy to announce that development is coming along well. We have something massive in the works right now that we're hoping to announce either next blog post, or the one after that. Thank you for following updates on Indie Rumble!

Taking us a little longer than expected…:
We’ve been keeping fairly quiet over the last month, but we recently made the decision to port over to the newest version of PFE. This decision was made for a handful of reasons including better netcode, better source control, and most importantly the ability to easily implement a knockdown system similar to Smash Ultimate. This decision increased our workload, and that including producing high-quality animations has seen us with more work on our hands than we anticipated. This means we are going to need a bit of extra time to ensure the game meets our quality standards. While this may be disappointing to some, we believe it is for the best. We will prioritize releasing a solid game for Early Access. While we won’t be providing a set release date for now, expect the game to release sometime in Summer 2022. We hope you understand and will be patient with us.
COME ON, WHEN WILL WE SEE THE NEXT CHARACTER ALREADY?:
Sorry that it’s been a while since the last character reveal! We’ve spent all of our time working on Early Access, so we haven’t had all that much time to put together a huge reveal for this blog post. This being said, we’re happy to share that the next character reveal will take place alongside our next blog post. The reveal will not only show the next character, but will also show gameplay of said character.
Closing Words:
We’ve been working REALLY hard and we’re hoping that we can get this game out as soon as possible. We hope you enjoyed this new info and we’re really excited to showcase the new character next month.
TLDR: - Alt Costume Contest Winner Revealed - Switched PFE versions, this means a small delay in early access release - Next Character will be announced in May blogpost
…and just like the previous month’s, here is Lya’s first track, the Indie Rumble Main Theme:
APRIndie RumbFOOLes Blog Post
Hey everyone,
That sure was weird, huh? We have some really fun stuff to talk about and show off. Last month, we saw the roster cut of Boyfriend from Friday Night Funkin’, and have announce Yolk from Leap Day has his replacement on the Early Access roster. We can’t wait to show off more of Yolk and talk about his fun mechanics
The Fighter’s Poll:
From March 25th - March 27th we launched an Indie Rumble Fighter’s Poll. This was to gauge interest in certain character and determine who we should go after for DLC and the newly opened base game slot. While we cannot confirm the ranking Just Yet… We want to let everyone know that we are currently looking at the results and getting ready for the next few steps. We want to thank EVERYBODY who participated. We received a whopping 507 responses.
WHAT KIND OF TOWER IS IT?!:
We’ve seen your request and we are proud to show off Peppino’s new look and idle: (Animated by @Ro-eb!)
We hope you are all pleased with Peppino’s design. He is currently the largest character in the game by far. We will be showing off more of Peppino and Yolk in a future update.
When Will We See More?:
Later this month will see the publication of the Indie Rumble April 2022 Blog Post, which will focus on our Early Access character’s basic actions such has idle, running, and tilt attacks. We're anticipating the April 2022 Blog Post to be our biggest one yet... ;)
A New Contest?:
Now that we have shown the base sprite for each early access character, we’ll be hosting a color palette challenge during the month of April! We’ll link access to the sprites of the 4 early access characters in the community Discord server, and you will be able to… You may only submit one palette per character! At the end of the month, we will choose our 2 favorite palettes for each character and add them to the game (with credit in the game’s credits). Please note that if you submitted multiple palette ideas, we will only choose 1 of your submissions to add to the game. Good luck and have fun!

Closing Words:
We still have a few months of work left to do until we hit early access and we're still running on a $0 budget, but we're very happy with how progress has turned out so far. We also want to thank people such as Cowabunger who help spread our game. We can’t wait to see you all later this month.
TLDR:
- Fighter’s Poll is complete and we are analyzing results. - Peppino’s Idle has been revealed. - April Blog Post will happen. - Alt Costume Contest Announcement. - Some stages will feature multiple tracks.
…and just like last time, hear Anthony’s remix of Into The Mind from YIIK:
AND YES: THIS MEANS SOME STAGES WILL HAVE MULTIPLE TRACKS!
