Black Girls Dive Foundation Launches Partnership with Infinite Scuba

Black Girls Dive Foundation (BGDF) has been expanding its strategic partnerships this past year to ensure that they are meeting mission critical goals and objectives by providing innovative STEM activities that empower young girls and cultivate their STEM identity. During these extraordinary times, more and more youth-based organizations are seeking to find their new normal as they navigate unchartered waters of quarantines, copious amounts of antibacterial handwash, Clorox wipes, and social distancing. Youth service programs have been tremendously affected as face-to-face engagement has all but vanished. Yearning for strategic ways to maintain a connection with the youth to whom we provide services, necessity becomes the mother of invention to actively engage youth in mission-critical activities.

Today, Black Girls Dive Foundation announces its partnership with Cascade Game Foundry (CGF), a leader in the simulation gaming industry. This powerful collaboration enables CGF to raise awareness of ocean environmental issues to a broader and more diversified user base and BGDF to increase brand awareness to more people across the globe and provide access to innovative pedagogical tools that enable deeper learning and an opportunity for youth to explore the underwater world through Cascade Game Foundry’s diving simulation game, Infinite Scuba®. In Infinite Scuba, players do what real divers do – explore real-world locations, identify wildlife, search for sunken artifacts, take photos, clean up the reef, and manage their air and depth, while learning about dive science, local culture, and environmental issues.

About Black Girls Dive Foundation
BGDF is a non-profit entity under Section 50l (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code that was founded in 2017. Its main office is located in Owings Mills, Maryland and has chapters in Trenton, New Jersey and Atlanta Georgia. BGDF provides education and outreach to girls who are from historically disenfranchised ethnic minority groups and/or live in communities that are underserved and under-resourced. BGDF’s mission objectives addresses three critical issues: (1) the racial and socioeconomic achievement gap that undermines our ideals of freedom, equality and opportunity; (2) limited or restricted sense of youth agency and voice; and (3) cultivating the next generation of scientists, conservationists and planetary stewards. Our work is conceptually grounded in STEM identity research that views Black women’s experience in science through a lens where one’s gender, and racial and ethnic identities affect one’s science identity.

About Cascade Game Foundry
Cascade Game Foundry (CGF™) is an independent software development team composed of experienced divers and veteran game makers who empower people to explore the world from home through video games and virtual-reality experiences for diverse audiences. CGF is a Washington-state Social Purpose Corporation (aka B Corp) whose social goals are environmental education and the promotion of STEM skills.

New "looks and loc" update released!

Hello diving fans! We are excited to share that we released a game update that includes a major graphics refresh (e.g. more realistic underwater lighting) as well as Spanish localization and bug fixes for the French, German, and Hungarian localizations.

We are currently working on a set of gameplay improvements suggested by our players, so please let us know if you have any feedback for us. You can either post your suggestions on our Steam discussion hub or send mail to customerservice@infinitescuba.com.

Thanks so much for your help and patience!

ps: The SPC in our name stands for 'social purpose corporation', the Washington state version of a 'B' corporation. Our social goals are environmental education and the promotion of STEM skills. We donate $1 of each 'Infinite Scuba' game purchased to ocean awareness non-profit organizations like Mission Blue (Dr. Sylvia Earle's group), and we provide 'Infinite Scuba' free to teachers and schools. All proceeds from 'Dive with Sylvia VR' go to Mission Blue.

Infinite Scuba is at the United Nations this week!

Hi Ocean Fans! We are honored and super excited to be in NYC at the UN Ocean Conference this week! Delegates to this conference came from all over the world to share their ocean knowledge, dreams, and best practices for ocean conservation. The response to the #VR dive with Sylvia Earle and the conventional game has been fantastic! Supporting Dr. Earle's mission to save the oceans is a huge part of why we built the game in the first place - this is why we donate $1 of each purchase to Mission Blue and do so much school outreach. Being surrounded by passionate ocean environmentalists absolutely restores your faith in humanity. :)

Please check out our FB page (CascadeGameFoundry) or Twitter streams (@cascadegf, @infinitescuba) to see some photos/posts from our crazy beautiful week.

When we get back to Seattle, our next goals are the release of the VR dive and an update to the conventional game, both of which we have been testing on-site.

Thank you for hanging in there with our pokey development pace - slow and steady, like the honu we are.

Infinite Scuba at EarthGames on Tap tomorrow!

Hi Ocean Fans! We were invited to show the game this Thursday (18 May 2017) at EarthGames on Tap, an evening of fun and inspiration hosted by the UW Center for Creative Conservation. They are bringing together researchers and game developers to spark collaborations on new games for change – specifically, video games that are good for people and the planet. You can learn how to 'gamify' research, and meet others working in the environmental, education, and social change realms. Mingle and brainstorm over locally-sourced beer, pizza, and popcorn–and try your hand at a curated selection of new 'earthgames'!

More info on the event is here: https://earthgames.org/evening/

Registration ($12 online, $18 at the door) is here: https://events.uw.edu/c/express/9546e5bd-5c55-4563-b8e5-7a21388a90a6
