Infinite Voyager

July Hotfix

Hey, Chris here.

Work's been picking up, but with Tyrannis finally finished, I can focus on some updates for Infinite Voyager.

Big thing for this one is that the combat's been re-balanced and the glitch where you get sent to an empty solar system is fixed.

Anyways, I have a meeting to attend, so I'll see you around.

Infinite Voyager 0.0.3 Update

So, um... Long time no see, huh?

Okay, if I'm being honest, a big reason why this wasn't going to be updated was Starfield coming out in 2023. I was honestly scared that nobody would want to play this, since I would be competing against Bethesda (and promptly get my butt kicked because I can't beat them at their own game).

Of course, there's some similarities: "Open-World Space Exploration Game," and all that, but I realized something.

That's about where the similarities end. Infinite Voyager is its own game that is a love-letter to Sid Meier's Pirates! (except for that freaking dancing mechanic I don't like because I can't see the prompts).

That, and my fundamental game design philosophy is to not compete with other companies by making something truly unique. That way, I don't have to try to beat bigger studios at their own game.

It's that philosophy that helped me design Tyrannis and Tyrannis: Co-Prosperity, and it's the same philosophy that I'm bringing to Infinite Voyager.

So, with that out of the way, let's take a look at the new updates in 0.0.3:

  • Ships can now be upgraded to have drone hangars to carry scouting and combat drones.
  • Planetary exploration will now be done with drones, instead of ships.
  • Drones can be purchased planetside.
  • File size is reduced by removing unused boarding assets.
  • Readjusted ship costs.
  • Finally fixed that one bug that was messing with screen resolution.
  • Reworked planetary invasion gameplay from a gauntlet of ship battles to engaging in dogfights against enemy interceptors in-atmosphere.
  • Balanced shield recharge for difficulty.

Now, updates will be coming out more-often than once a year, but I do have a job now, and I basically make this game in my free time.

But there's a whole lot more to come. It's all in the design phase, but we're looking at more ship upgrades, colonization, shipbuilding, trading, and privateering.

Until then,

Infinite Voyager 2023 Overhaul Update

Kept you waiting, huh?

Yeah, sorry about that. Had a very hectic 2022, where I nearly died multiple times.

I'm doing better now, though, which means it's time for an update of Infinite Voyager!

Everything That's Been Updated

True Open-World Gameplay.

This time, you aren't going from system to system. Do you see that star over there? Go there and explore the planets. If you want, conquer it for the faction of your choice and come back to it later!

Combat Interface Changed.

One of the problems with combat is that players would have to keep looking away from their ship while they were fighting if they wanted to see if they ran out of ammo. Sure, that works in FPS games, but this is a roguelike space exploration game, not an FPS. Better to have all the info you need right next to your ship.

UI Overhaul

I'll be honest, this one is kind of for me. Sure, the old look wasn't bad, but man did it look ugly. A fresh coat of neon-blue paint looks way better.

Ledger Fix

Want to keep track of everything you have in total? Now there's a tab for that.

And they show up!

Save System Overhaul

If you're going to be traveling through an entire galaxy, then you're going to need a new save system to save all that progress. Now you have one!

Tutorial Overhaul

Inspired by Tyrannis' own video tutorials, I've basically gutted the old text-based tutorial system and replaced it with a brand-new video tutorial.

Planet Defense Fleet Fix

Are you tired of attacking a system, only to have to retreat, then return to an entirely new defense fleet? Well, that's all a thing of the past, now. When you attack a ship in the defense fleet, it's going to stay dead or captured.

And we're just getting started, folks.

Anyways, it's good to be back and working on Infinite Voyager again. Updates should be coming more regularly now.

Thanks to everyone who helped bring the game here. Seriously, I couldn't do it without you guys.

It's good to be back.

February 11 Hotfix Notes

Fixed localization to make Infinite Voyager more user-friendly.

Should make everything a bit clearer.

Have fun.

February 8 Hotfix Notes

Glad to see so many people interested in Infinite Voyager this week!

So, here's a rundown of what's been fixed:

  • Enemy ships will no longer instantly flee after a single ship gets away. They will instead flee after their health gets low, or they blast your ship with enough pulse rounds to fry your engines.

And that does it for this hotfix update.

Keep the constructive feedback coming in.

And if you're a streamer, curator, let's player or reviewer who wants to check out Infinite Voyager, you can reach me at cghonegames@gmail.com

February 5 Hotfix Notes

24 hours in, and I've gotten some constructive feedback from you all about Infinite Voyager. Keep it coming.

I get it. Scanning planets isn't the most fun thing to do in the galaxy. Not when you can fly around and commit space piracy.

So, I've done a few things to make it worth your while:

  • Increased scanning speed and flight speed when exploring.
  • Ships will now remain in-orbit and deploy their Aeternus Type-381 "Galaxy" drone to scout planets.
  • The Aeternus Type-381 Galaxy can detect jettisoned cargo, resource deposits, and credit pods.

In addition, there are a few fixes for glitches that've been reported:

  • When saving, ghost ships will no longer appear to crash your game.
  • The AI controlling combat ships will no longer pursue you unless you've done something to anger them enough to attack you.
  • In the unexplored systems, that includes existing.

Anyways, I hope you all are having fun with Infinite Voyager.

And remember: It will always be ethical to steal from the Aeternus Corporation.
