Infinity Heroes Open Beta Free Release & Patch Notes

Welcome to the Infinity Heroes Open Beta release!

From today, Infinity Heroes is completely free to access directly through Steam. Not only that, but we'll be having a period of complete access to all existing heroes for beta testing purposes before we activate the owned hero requirement and free hero rotation, so it's a great time to get into the game and play with any heroes you desire, so you know which you're likely to choose to unlock first!

The game's full release and mobile releases are still under works, however we'll be focusing on Infinity Wars Classic in preparation for it's upcoming launch. If you want to see our progress on IWC you can check out the newest patch notes clicking here.

We have a small patch included with this, so let's look at some patch notes.

New IH Hero - Theseus

Theseus, the Cruel Cleanser, is the newest to Infinity Heroes. Disrupt the enemy with Theseus and his mix of DoD and Verore magic. Play defensive early game then watch as multiple aggressive bonuses unlock when your max resources reaches 10. But don't burn yourself out!

New Feature - Turn Unlocking

We now have turn unlocking for multiplayer battles!
Once you lock in your turn, you can now unlock the turn you submitted to make other additional moves. When waiting for the opponent to make their turn, we also have new display behaviour which includes the unlock button, and the environment lighting transitions to night time. You can now also properly interact with the cards on the board and other user interface panels.
Note: If you go to unlock your turn at the same time the opponent submits their turn, your unlock action may not happen as it must be approved by the opponent due to client networking speeds and delays.

New Content - Adventure Mode Updates

Additional relics and unlockable cards have been implimented for Adventure mode, as well as improvements to various late game boss battles. In addition, you can now properly complete a full 9 mission adventure mode run, no longer bugging out at the end. Also improved Adventure mode user interface and saving. Please note this might wipe old adventure save files for runs that were mid-run.

  • Fixed Adventure mode freezing if the game is a draw

Thanks for all of your support. If you like the game, feel free to leave a positive review! Our steam rating is still sitting on Mixed due to some early bugs and misconceptions due to people thinking it was Infinity Wars 2, and we aim to correct that over time, as the game has much more content, is much more stable, and now free.

Or, if you think there's something you'd like to see us work on and fix for Infinity Heroes, feel free to let us know in the Steam Comments, we'd love your feedback.

See you on the Battlefield, Rift Runner!

Infinity Heroes content update: Two new IH Heroes

Greetings, Rift Runners. We haven't published a full patch recently with our focus being on engine/IWC stuff, so here's a double whammy, with two new heroes!

Cathleen

Cathleen, a powerful aggressive value-driven character, who has a flexible array of tools for beast and men alike.
Their hero power is Reinforcements. Put a copy of a target friendly unit on the top of your deck, and it gains Charge next turn.

Units

  • Tracks the Cowardly, your early-game unit, which buffs a random unit in your hand on death but only for a single turn.
  • Terror Moose, A charge unit that moves a target unit to the defense zone when played,
  • Haunted Elkmare, your beefier base unit with Untouchable, for avoiding opponent's effects
  • Umbral Warden, A heavy striker with Charge and Bloodthirst

Spells

  • Cleanse Impurities, A spell that can either buff your own units, or damage opponents units, with upgrade potential. Very versatile.
  • Shamba's Unity, buff a friendly unit, and it gains Untouchable.

Ultimates

  • Shamba, Reborn, A beast which grants a permanent stat buff to your allies as long as they remain in the assault or defense zones.
  • Memorial to Heroes, which creates a copy of each unit you control, as well as all buffs and debuffs.

Vis, the Furious

The only important point of health is your last, damage yourself and your opponent and live life on the edge.
Their hero power is Reckless Rampage, dealing 1 damage to themselves and their opponent.

Units

  • Vicious Ransacker, a unit which gets stronger whenever you take damage.
  • Reckless Zealot, cheap and charge based, but also gains double it's stats for the turn if you are again below 5 health.
  • Noble Protector, which harms your hero to deal damage to another unit when played
  • Decimator, the beefy boy that damages ALL units and heroes whenever it attacks.

Spells

  • Power of the Underdog, A damage spell that turns into a kill spell below 5 health.
  • Intimidating Rally, Moves a target defending unit to the support zone.

Ultimates

  • Klore, Rapier Centurion, A low-cost high-health unit, who only takes a max of 1 damage from all sources if you're below 5 total health.
  • Fiery Wish, which gives every single card you draw Charge, for the rest of the game.

Infinity Heroes content update: Pras, the Traitor

Greetings, Rift Runners. It's been quite some time, but here's the newest hero to feature in Infinity Heroes!

Pras, the Traitor

Pras, the Traitor is a Cultist and Flame Dawn mixed deck that is aggressive and is able to manipulate the battlefield.
Their hero power is Revenge, which targets a unit that dealt damage to them last turn, and kills it.

Units

  • Ghost Knight, a low cost unit with Resist.
  • Black Bind Witch, that helps buff another unit as long as it's on the field.
  • Demon of Fear, which can be upgraded for a heavy cost to stop your opponent from blocking a turn.
  • Decimator, a Multi-Strike unit with Trample.

Spells

  • Ferocity, giving a unit an attack buff and moving it to the assault zone.
  • Void Split, that kills an enemy unit, and buffs two random friendly units based on the killed unit's stats.

Ultimates

  • Subjugated Dragon, a defending flying dragon that turns into demons upon death.
  • Ablaze, which immolates your opponent, doing damage over time to them.

Pras is the 20th hero to be released, and we're looking forward to seeing how he fares.

Also worth mentioning, is we have a new bug reporter menu that we've been actively using for the Infinity Wars Classic pre-Alpha, and it functions in Infinity Heroes as well! So, if you run into anything pesky or broken, we can start fixing IH based bugs with a lot faster results now hopefully!

Our focus recently has been on the Infinity Card Engine, as well as IWC, however now that we're approaching a comfortable level on these, we're going to be giving some love to IH in the coming weeks as we prepare for an eventual open-beta launch, hitting free to play in the Steam Store and hopefully bringing in more players for everyone to go against!

In our latest patch “Adventure Expanded”, Our results for the Infinity Card Engine are starting to really ramp up, and that means new stuff to show off in Infinity Heroes, including our new overhauled Menu system! It’s so much more interactive, and feels like an amazing improvement. We also have more cards in Adventure mode thanks to our efforts on the Infinity Wars 2 Prototype. Speaking of, in the coming days we are going to be turning off the ability to grab access to the Infinity Wars 2 Prototype, as we don’t want too many people to be witnessing the first playable versions of the game.

We’ll also have more to share regarding Infinity Wars Classic in the coming weeks, so our oldest fans should stay tuned for more.

Additionally, with the UI improvements, there’s now a lot more functionality that’s been added to the Adventure Mode, which pairs in amazingly with the new cards that have also been added in to give more variety and spice to your deckbuilding potential. Additionally, the ability to view your deck as a whole while building it adds a great deal of clarity to the entire mode. Now you know exactly what you do, and will have as you head into the upcoming rounds.

And as always, we’d love to hear from everyone on Discord, where we’ve been hosting Dev Team streams, where our players can come and chat, challenge us to a game, and ask us whatever’s on their mind across any of our games. If you’re not already there, check the link out and we’ll meet you there!
