The April Update

Hello all,

March has been a crazy-hectic month, but here's the juice:

INIT. is now fully implemented with Unity 5, bringing with it some truly tasty visual support, including 4K (looks stunning). The latest Oculus DK2 SDK was a total suprise to all, and brings with it a whole host of features to the hardware and how it performs.

New development machines! There is not a program or game on this planet that can even TOUCH what we are now capable of running. This makes Light Baking and development woes a little easier to deal with ;)

New office! We've moved in to somewhere that isn't a flat! Its a miracle!

We've yet to establish an effective way of FPS control using Oculus. And while standard FPS controls work well with non-VR playmodes, they don't really agree with DK2. This is something that Unity has yet to really provide, and yet UE4 trounces with ease.

Hmm...rest assured, we're smashing it with Thor-like hammers.

Update to follow soon!

March 27th Update

Hello all,

The conversion to Unity 5 is taking a little longer than intended, with local machines not discovering our hidden construct 'Chunks' and other unlockables.

This is basically due to values that the unlock system relies upon, not being included in standalone builds of INIT Beta. This is hopefully due to be rectified by Monday.

In other news, the new Tutorial environment is underway and looks beautiful when viewed through the Oculus Rift. We've also created some new Achievements that will replace and update others as the remaster rolls out.

Stay tuned.

March 9th Beta Update

After the recent Unity announcements at GDC, INIT is currently being ported to Unity 5, which brings with it a whole host of delicious new features and performance increases!

Directory 1, Construct 2 is now complete and in a few days, will be added to the Beta roster.

FEB 26th Beta Updates

Hello all,

You should be seeing an update pushed through the Steam Client in a few minutes. Within, you'll find the first, completely remastered Construct from the game: Maern!

You may also stumble across the first of a new set of features, depending on how observant you are. Each Construct now has a hidden 'Chunk' (a special collectable cube) which can be located either through exploration, or by solving certain puzzles. These Chunks, when gathered in groups of ten, allow access to the Secret Construct for that Directory.

Where as previously the entrance to the Secret Construct itself was hidden, you now have to fully evaluate your environment in order to find each Chunk.

Do you prefer this system? Let us know.

Also, for those of you with Oculus Rift units, you're in for a treat. Maern's environment is ready to go, and looks fantastic. You won't be able to interact with anything that requires a button just yet (the next update covers DK2 interaction), but Construct 1 is absent of buttons to press anyway.

Stay tuned! :reallol:

Beta Hotfixes and Content Updates

Over the next few minutes, you'll be able to download an upgraded and slightly more fleshed out Beta update, that includes the starting elements of the remastered version of the first Construct in the game: Maern.

You won't be able to complete this construct just yet, but please feel free to don on your DK2 headset (if you don't have access to a Rift, don't worry, you can still play) and compare the differences to the original version of Maern.

Included within the Prompt inside the Construct, is a slightly lengthy Commentary track, detailing what will be changing to INIT.'s levels and systems, as well as intiating new forms of player progress signals, such as 'Phases' which mark how many puzzels lie in wait within a Construct and form the basis of the new Checkpoint system (which the lack of in the previous version of INIT. was driving people crazy!).

Have a dive in and see what you think.

We thought it would be cool to start showing this level to you all now, as development increases, you'll be able to call out the changes to it.

The INIT. Workshop Is Open!

Hello all,

The INIT. Workshop has finally opened its doors for community submissions!

We're looking for the best community modders and creative minds out there, to create items that will be used as the default, shipped model in the final release of INIT. next year!

Also, if you're a content creator and wish to just generate fun things for CO-OP (like...let's say...hats? Voice packs?) then go right ahead! There more involvement from everyone, the richer the end experience.

Don't forget to vote on your favourite community submissions. Your votes will help their efforts reach the dizzying heights of Curated stardom!

Have fun!
