Ink Cipher v1.3 is out now, which brings major new changes and a large amount of extra content to the game.
Changes are as follows:
Content
77 new puzzles, bringing the total to 213
A few of the earlier puzzles have been tweaked and made later, with new puzzles taking earlier slots (1.2 save data reflects the move)
A few typos have been fixed in various puzzles
A few puzzles have been tweaked to make them easier
5 grid themes to choose from (original, classic, neon, wooden, metal)
Controls
You can now play with a keyboard and/or a gamepad - a virtual cursor shows up when using an analogue stick, and in-game, a selector accompanies d-pad use
Letter tiles can be dragged directly onto a space in the grid to set it
Letter tiles and filled grid spaces can be right-clicked to clear them
Grid spaces will light up with a preview of the letter it will be set to if you are currently moving a tile
Clicking or pushing A on a grid space will bring a radial menu up where you can move the mouse over an option, or tilt the left stick to select, and release it to either set it to a letter or clear it
When you have a radial menu open, you can also hit a letter A-Z on the keyboard to directly fill it
Menus
More-complete main menu system
Options menu allows adjustment of music and SFX volumes individually, which tileset you want in-game, sensitivity of analogue sticks (for controls) and showing/hiding the timer
A more in-depth help screen with multiple pages and images
Level select screen now has a few extras such as a scrollbar you can click and drag to navigate the puzzle selection faster
Times are now not shown on the level select screen if set to "Hide"
Misc
Sound effects for picking up and placing tiles changed
Altered Level Solved screen now shows extra details, more options (retry level, play next level) and does not obscure finished puzzle
Fixed a couple of bugs with the early undocumented radial menu seen in 1.2.1
v1.2.1 - 19 new puzzles, bug fix, v1.3 preview features
v1.2.1 of Ink Cipher brings the following fixes and changes:
- Added 19 new puzzles (118 through 136) - Fixed issue where using the Add Hint button and the result overlapping a wrongly-placed tile overlaps it
There is also an experimental new feature, the Radial Input menu. It is currently undocumented and only implemented lowish-level, but does currently function. To use it: 1. left-click and hold on one of the squares in the main grid 2. move your mouse over the letter you wish to fill it in with (or Clear to clear it, or Cancel to close the radial menu) 3. let go of the click This will be documented with help, and implemented to a greater degree, in a future update.
Thank you for playing! Allie
Ink Cipher v1.2
Thank you to those that have supported Ink Cipher over the past few years. It's been wonderful to have seen some folk give Ink Cipher a go and provide us with a ton of great feedback.
With that in mind, I'm happy to announce v1.2 of Ink Cipher, which brings some UI tweaks/additions and bug fixes, on top of 13 extra ciphers to complete. The changelist is as follows:
Added 13 new puzzles, 105 through 117
Added a pause button to the game
Added a timer hide option, which will hide the timer (in cipher mode only, times still shown on menu)
Added an audio mute option
Added a clue button, which adds an extra "given" at random, at the cost of 1 min in-game time
Givens are now highlighted to show they are definite
Made alterations to puzzle 008 to give it all 26 letters
Fixed a typo in puzzle 098
Fixed a crash with the keyboard shortcut input
Tweaked the intro screen to read "Click to Start" rather than "Tap to Start"
Eventually I would like to complete a full feature update that brings bigger changes, but for now, I hope the extra puzzles are enjoyable and the small adjustments and additions are a good start.
