Insanity's Blade V1.11 Update!

Hello everyone,

We are releasing a minor patch today based on the feedback and bug reports we've received that changes the following:

  • Fixes to sidequest unlocks after completing the game. Any weapons missed should be available to be revisited!
  • Bosses that were meant to have a treasure/loot drop after beating them are now fixed
  • Fixed the behavior of some enemies when playing local co-op

As a side note, if you have not been able to update to V1.10 yet you may want to try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. This was due to a change in the file structure which vastly decreases the load time of the game!

Thanks again for playing Insanity's Blade and the great bug reporting and feedback we have received from you all!

Insanity's Blade V1.10 Update!

Hi all!

We're releasing a new update based on some of the excellent feedback in the discussions and reviews with the following changes so far:

  • Enemies that rise from the ground will spawn further away from the player giving more time to react
  • Fog effects are adjusted to improve the game performance
  • Custom controller bindings have a small delay added to prevent skipping the JUMP control
  • Fixed one sidequest that did not unlock properly in the stage replay mode (available by continuing from a save file that completed the story mode). Any and all missed side quests that would have permanent weapons should now be accessible until they are completed
  • Modified the file and folder structure for greatly improved loading speed Note: due to this change the update will be much larger than normal (roughly 500mb)

Update: We have heard that the patch may have trouble installing after the folder structure had changed and so it is recommended (if the update is stuck as paused) to uninstall and reinstall the game (your save files are still kept safe on your PC though!).

Anyone who installed the game after this update will not have that issue.

Thank you all for the positive feedback and we hope you continue to enjoy Insanity's Blade!

Insanity's Blade V1.09b Update!

Hi everyone! As of V1.09b we are happy to report that the final modifications to the shooter stage are live and should make the power-ups spawn more frequently!

We would also like to list a few of the bigger features that have been included in the game updates since its initial release thanks to all the feedback you've given us:

  • New ARCADE mode to accompany the STORY mode, a fast pace run through the whole game with no saves, just like the arcades of old!
  • New HELL difficulty for those seeking an even greater challenge!
  • New No Daggers options setting after beating the game which lets you fight with just your fists and weapons!
  • CUSTOM CONTROLS! You can now map the keys and gamepad buttons how you like in the options* menu!

Thank you all again for the absolutely amazing feedback and support along the way!

Insanity's Blade V1.09 Update!

Hi everyone! Here's a minor update which brings a few tweaks and fixes.

Bug Fixes:

  • Shooter stages had a very rare glitch where lighting would spawn off screen and not be destroyed.
  • Arcade Mode: Level Complete screen text boxes were not big enough, these have been expanded.

Gameplay Changes:

  • HP on stage 2 (cave ruins) have been lowered for the majority of enemies. Spawning for some has been slowed as well.
  • HP for overall enemies has been dropped so balance out the difficulty in some stages. Some bosses have also had HP lowered.

Thank you all again for supporting Insanity's Blade!

Insanity's Blade V1.08 Update - Arcade Mode!

Hello everyone!

We are proud to present the latest addition to Insanity's Blade: An all new ARCADE MODE! For those who want to slam through all of the main stages and bosses without the extra story and back tracking - this is for you!

In this mode Weapons and Key Items are rewarded upon fighting bosses and completing full stages, and some sub-stages have been shortened while some of the tiny ones have been cut out all together to keep a fast pace. Like a true arcade machine, this mode has no saves! You can still pause or quit back to the title in-game whenever you need to though.

This mode also brings in some competition to the local couch co-op mode as you will get bonuses based on your performance at the end of each full stage!

None of this affects the original STORY MODE which joins arcade mode as an option on the title screen now.

Thanks again to all of you who have given feedback, suggestions, and bug reports during the development of Insanity's Blade!

Insanity's Blade V1.07 Update!

Today we've released another quick update which fixes a few bugs that snuck into the co-op mode since the last game engine update!

Based on your feedback we've also added a few tweaks to help new players get used to the game:

  • The new game menu option now lets you choose a difficulty without going into options (aside from hell mode you can still change difficulty later in the options menu too!)
  • Enemies on the first two stages have slightly lower HP to ease the difficulty curve in the beginning of the game
  • The tree monsters no longer block and the skeleton king will block less frequently on the forest stage and side quest
  • A helpful ghost will now teach you how to open their inventory when the first side quest is activated

If you want to see some of the other changes in recent patches, you can also check out the changelog in the game manual on the Store page at: http://store.steampowered.com/manual/334190

Thanks again to all of you for the continued support and suggestions!

Insanity's Blade V1.06 Update!

To celebrate Valentine's Day this week Thurstan is bringing you SPECIAL LOVE AND KITTENS EXPLOSIONS!

Of course that's not all that's new! We've also added some more features:

  • If you beat the game without all weapons unlocked, you can now revisit those side-quests to complete them in the stage re-play mode!
  • No Daggers mode! This mode can be unlocked in the options menu after beating the game and will let you turn on/off the ranged daggers attack (as requested by Solaire!). Try this in combination with the HELL MODE from the last update for an extreme challenge!
  • New level cap, now Thurstan can reach level 13!

With the story mode of Insanity's Blade working how we (and hopefully you!) like now, we are looking forward to working on the additional content that was planned way back in the Kickstarter as well as a more "pure Arcade" mode.

These will keep us pretty busy, alongside the work we're doing on our future titles, and so it might be a few months before the next major update, but we'll still keep updating the game often if any bugs are reported!

Thank you all for the support so far,

Insanity's Blade V1.05 Update!

Hello everyone!

We're really glad to announce our next update which adds some much requested features:

  • HELL MODE This is the toughest difficulty setting, and it can only be selected when starting from a new game. You only start with one life and no continues, similar to Hard mode, but then there's a few extra things we've tweaked to make it tricky! Warning! Once you start on HELL MODE you can't change the difficulty level for the save slot unless you overwrite it!
  • CUSTOM CONTROLS In the options menu you'll now find a way to re-assign keyboard controls and gamepad buttons as well as a way to view and test them out! The options menu and title screen will still use the default controls outlined in the manual.
  • Tweaked graphics on the Sunken Keep stage above the water/elevator ride

Once again we thank you all for suggestions and glitch reports!

Awesome Insanity's Blade Review!

Yesterday Joel Couture posted a great review of our game that really went into detail about why Insanity's Blade has become one of his Must Plays of 2014!

Here's a few highlights from his review:

It’s about being powerful, with all player actions having explosive effects. Enemies don’t just die; they detonate in showers of blood. You don’t just grab an enemy; you tear a limb off or rip them to shreds. You don’t just attack; you loose a volley of flaming, razor-sharp death. It makes the simplest attack animations a joy to do, giving a little burst of excitement every time you press a button.

...

The game is interested in making me feel empowered, but does so in a carefully balanced way so that it’s just hard enough to make me feel good about overcoming it.

...

Through over-the-top attacks, great visuals and sound, and a carefully balanced challenge, it’s just solid entertainment. It’s one of my favorite games to just boot up and goof off with from this year, and the perfect way for any action game fan to unwind.
