About the game:



Insatia is a carnivorous worm simulator with an innovative control system and a charming atmosphere full of creepy crawly cannibalism. Odd insects huddle in a corner, worms rip each other apart, and people push buttons and laugh.

Key features:

  • A tactical combat system, allowing worms to tear each other to pieces.
  • Elements of the 'Eat or Run' genre: everything in the game is growing, eating or being eaten.
  • A control system imitating the movement of reptiles: worms must wriggle to move!

As part of the Steam Game Festival we will be streaming Insatia.
We will try to play through all 15 levels of the demo, while getting all the achievements.
Food is cunning, creeping, and is not going to eat itself alone! Come see how hard it is for the developer to beat their own game. :)

The demo contains 15 out of 45 levels of the singleplayer campaign, plus a few splitscreen levels for playing with friends. Thanks to the Steam Play Together feature you don't even need to sit behind the same PC. It won't be extra easy, the controls require some getting used to, but it will award you with a lot of novel experience.




If you defeated the slush boss in the demo, it is not the end yet! There is one more secret 15th level, which has no goal, but features laser cutter and an opportunity to control the acid worm. Laser cutter and acid worm - what could possibly go wrong!

Demo 4.3.0 is available for download



Soon game is going to be out on Steam (please, add to wishlist!). So I very much like to know that I didn't break anything during the last year of work. Please let me know if anything is odd.

In updated demo:

1. Characters are reworked, old ones conflicted with game's visual style



2. More compact and informative user interface





3. New level with mites for teaching player sharp turns



4. New balance: other system for calculating food value, even easier worm moving, new worm AI



5. Archivements and secrets: console cheat codes are legal now, every archivement reveals something new



This yellow face means achievements and transition to a new level are temporarily blocked due to cheats.



6. Two test levels for split screen mode (with teleports and helmets)



7. Somewhere in the end of the demo you can play with laser beam and ride acid worm!

Pufferball



Pufferball is a 3 vs 3 game. Score a goal by bringing the puffer to the opposing team's goal area (and try not to swallow it in the process). After scoring a goal the puffer is either eaten by carrying player or grilled by referee turret. Biting, pushing, ripping apart the opposing team is allowed. New worm is given to a player immediately should they lost one. Ready? Go!

Everybody loves gummies



Finished new gummy mechanic — a substance that spat by gummy worm to bait everyone around. Should be very tasty.

Split screen



A lot of updates at once: added split screen mode, minimap, effects on worms and their indication (via icons and colorful screen flashes). Also new soundtrack and the victorious fan!

Through wormholes to the stars



We just got portable wormhole generators in the lab! If creature gets into active zone of the device, direct spatiotemporal channel to random receiver is created.

Side effects of dragging worms



While working on sound effects we used special debug feature allowing us to drag creatures with mouse (in order to adjust how sounds play and vary with distance). With aphids everything went as planned, but as soon as first worm was touched the work was put aside...
