Sending out rewards to backers

Citizens Of Object 6,

We are happy to inform you that the reward shuttles are refueled and ready to be sent to their destinations again. Earlier, we’ve reported that the first batch of Kickstarter rewards has already been sent to their destinations. Now that we’ve received the next batch, we can continue mailing them out.

If your residential address has changed since the Kickstarter campaign was completed, please update the information in your KS account. This is needed so that each package can arrive at the doorstep of its rightful owner.

Deliveries will be carried out in several phases since we need to make sure that the associated logistics haven’t been affected by the pandemic. Branded flash drives with a drm-free version of the game will be sent first.

To those concerned about the status of the next patch, we’d like to reassure you that sending out rewards hasn’t affected work on the next patch. All the remaining engineers and mechanics at the space station are busy with their work ;)

Thank you for your patience and faith in INSOMNIA: The Ark!

"Bane of mills" & "What is the price of freedom?" Walkthrough

Hi everyone,
After monitoring the various threads here on Steam, our team noticed that players have
difficulties competing some of the major story quests, often due to ambiguous instructions
provided by the game.
Questions with regards to two quests keep popping up fairly frequently:
- Bane of mills
- What is the price of freedom?
To help you, we've prepared a step-by-step guide to completing these missions. Hope you
find it useful! Let us know if we've missed anything :)

Unfortunately, due to the size of the management, it was not possible to place him in Steam. However, you can watch this via the link and later on the wiki we are preparing.

Update
Thanks to G4rr3tt, we were able to slightly complete the passage, the link has been updated. Thanks to the caring community!

Great day! Patch 1.7 has released

Citizens of Object 6! Update 1.7 is out. We repeat, update 1.7 is out!

The update brings major bug fixes and new in-game content — a pack of random encounters that require quick thinking and the right skills to overcome them. Completing these encounters will reward players with unique weapons and armour.

You will come across fierce enemies as well as… a little girl. Be careful around her as the little one is followed by a formidable protector.

And here’s the full list of fixes for bugs that you will (hopefully) never encounter again:

Locations

  • Added the missing quest key door in j27
  • Fixed the inability to view paintings inside the House of Zerden.
  • Enemies still present in Zone B27 in the quest At The Bottom despite combat being disabled. Their fury could barely be contained.
  • Removed the invisible wall in location d_p_d106_battle inside the building (the ‘Boiling point’ quest). Previously it appeared near the elevator entrance, preventing players from progressing further.
  • Patched a small hole in the floor in ‘Wild grove’. During self-isolation, we’ve decided to make some renovations — just like your neighbours.
  • Fixed the blocked exit point from location B-52\79s.
  • Removed the doorstep in ‘Bypass Road’ (d_p_stop). Now it’s a bit chilly though with the air blowing from under the door.

Gameplay

  • Fixed cutscene not starting after loading an autosave in the location of Clan Morakh if the player chose to follow the Church of Bea Kera.
  • !SPOILER! Fixed the game not ending if the enemies manage to kill general Tanaber in the quest ‘Not A Step Backwards’.
  • Fixed the ‘value’ count missing when trading. Blind trading is dangerous, kids!
  • Fixed the inability to kill Kevas with the help of the Red Band character in ‘Sulfur Geyser’ quest.
  • Fixed Maurits hitting the air and not attacking the player. On the second thought, he might have been nearsighted.
  • Disabled the ability to attack the Herald boss before the final dialogue with him. No more preemptive strikes!
  • Fixed the door to Zers Morakh being open even if the player chose to betray the clan during the quest ‘Revived Union’. These guys were way too welcoming.

Characters

  • Fixed dialogue with Zerden not starting automatically during the ‘Ghosts Of The Past’ quest.
  • Fixed dialogue with Gosp not starting automatically during the ‘Ghosts Of The Past’ quest.
  • Fixed the inability to give Morty the ‘Righteous Fury’ mask. It’s rude to refuse a gift, you know.
  • Fixed the idle animation cycle for Nerral in Monarch’s Base. The guy finally pulled himself together and calmed down.
  • Removed system info from the dialogue with Koposhun. He now speaks human.
  • Removed the skill check for the dialogue with Morty during the ‘Tyler’s Hideout’ quest.
  • Disabled the ability for your allies to kill children in ‘D-106’. This place will drive anyone insane.

Items

  • Added the missing effects to DELUXE backpack.
  • Added the missing ‘dismantle’ option for the ‘patient’s pants’ item.
  • Removed the chance to get 0 details from dismantling the ‘Whirlwind Grenade Launcher’, ‘Lans Hand Grenade Launcher’ and ‘Knuckle’
  • Fixed ‘Hammer’ and ‘Mallet’ dealing no damage from sprinting attack. Though, these instruments usually have other purposes.
  • Removed the iconless item from Zoey after killing her during the ‘Liquid Sky’ quest.

User Interface

  • Fixed the version number appearing the same as the release version.
  • Fixed the Esc button not working after changing the ‘Cancel’ button keybind in the settings menu.
  • Fixed the inability to interact with buttons in the main menu on 4k resolutions.

Graphics

  • Fixed lighting errors on the Global Map. The Ark is drifting ever forward, leaving the Sun behind.

The road through the memories. Crematorium

Dear citizens of Object 6!

Welcome to one of the most peculiar places on the Ark - the Crematorium. The majority of Urb residents end up here eventually with the ash collectors helping them on their last journey.

But there's plenty of other interesting spots at the Crematorium. Specifically, the trading stands. You can almost hear the excited whispers and shouts of the many merchants offering their goods for plenty of coin.

What would YOU buy there, if you had the chance? What unusual gizmos and amazing (or frightening) goods would you purchase, despite the prohibitions?

The road through the memories. The House of Bea Kera

Dear citizens of Object 6,

The House of Bea Kera invites new followers to join our ranks! Become a part of our sacred home, kneel and earn the favor of Oferod. Together, we’ll achieve unity with the Source and enter the Timelessness.

Incurring heavy losses tends to change the way people view the world around them. Do you agree with this charismatic leader’s ways? Did you consider siding with the House of Bea Kera during your playthrough?

The road through the memories

Dear citizens of Object 6,

Many years ago, we boarded the Ark en masse in order to forge a new destiny together. Let us reminisce about past events, so that we can prepare for the future.

Before patch 1.7, we would like to recall the most striking events and revisit places that left a mark. Feel free to share your stories of INSOMNIA’s most memorable moments.

What was your awakening like?

Would you side with the Committee?

Hello, Insomniacs!

While the work on update 1.7 is humming along, an interesting discussion arose among the team. A question, to be exact, which we’d like to ask our community.

As you all know, the Committee is a powerful political force in the world Insomnia: The Ark. Imagine you were one of the station’s citizens/regular inhabitants, would you support or oppose this political group and its stance on solving the toughest challenges facing Object 6?

Would you side with the Committee?

- For the truth! For the New Doctrine!

- No! Down with propaganda!

From the archives

The Committee is an executive authority responsible for ideological propaganda (the New Doctrine) and state security. The ideology of the New Doctrine aims to implement economic reforms that will overcome the constant shortage of food and other resources. In addition, the New Doctrine proposes a strengthening of the regime in the Near Range, not hesitating to offer the most radical methods to accomplish the goal.

The Ordinate is the common name for the armed forces of the Nomah Autonomy. The Ordinate is the largest state institution in the Station. It still has considerable political weight, despite the strengthened position of the Committee in the Autonomy Council.

V1.7 update, cloud saves and more backer rewards

Hello Insomniacs!

Quick updates coming your way in 3...2...1!

Bug fixes in 1.7

We are glad to announce that 64 of the 70 issues targeted in the coming patch have a ‘fixed’ status assigned by the dev team. QA will be taking a look at the game build in the coming 2 weeks. We will let you know as soon as the patch is marked ready for release, if everything goes according to plan.

In the meantime, the dev team will focus on the remaining 6 high level bugs that proved to be a bit more challenging to tackle than expected.

Steam cloud saves

We’ve noticed that cloud saves were acting strangely the last few weeks, but thankfully, the issue was resolved fairly quickly. Cloud saves should be available to everyone and work as intended.

Kickstarter rewards

In January, we’ve started sending out physical rewards to our Kickstarter backers. You have already seen photos of T-shirts and artbooks in earlier updates. Now it's time for the game itself!

Many, many years ago, at the time of the first Kickstarter campaign, optical discs were most commonly used for storing data. But those days are almost behind us. That is why we’ve decided to provide a DRM free version of the game on branded USB sticks to those backers that pledged for the appropriate reward tier.

Hundreds of gift boxes have already been sent out with more physical rewards to come.

Until next time!

Release on GOG, patch 1.7 and updating the soundtrack

Hello Insomniacs!

Brace yourselves for a few quick updates =)

Our team has made progress on ~25% of the bugs that we wanted to address with update 1.7. Current plans are to begin testing this initial batch of fixes in February, while the dev team is busy working on the remaining issues. As a quick reminder - v1.7 is meant to introduce 100+ most requested/high priority fixes and changes to the game, including things like companions going berserk and arbitrarily attacking NPCs, issues with unlocking certain achievements and other bugs of varying difficulty.

In addition to that, INSOMNIA was released on GOG last week which means we will soon begin sending out DRM-free keys to our Kickstarter backers.

One more thing - as requested by a few members of our community, we’ve updated the game’s soundtrack in the Deluxe Set and OST DLC’s, so that the tracks are in both the MP3 and FLAC formats.

Until next time!

Aaaand the almighty patch #6 is live!

Hello everyone! This Friday marks the release v1.6 for INSOMNIA: The Ark — a long-awaited patch that is expected to fix quite a few issues you’ve reported through our Community Hub including: the character generation bug, the game being rendered extremely dark in certain locations, inability to “deactivate” somnic dogs, lack of story videos at certain stages of the game and many more!

Here's a quick overview of some of the issues addressed:

Locations

  • Player avatar unable to exit from the ‘Coast’ location. And why would they want to? Have you seen the vistas over there?
  • The elevator leaving and becoming inactive after loading a previous save.
  • An invisible wall preventing the players from entering the elevator in the “Committee Archive” location. You shall not pass!
  • It is possible to fall into the elevator shaft at the Military Base location. I’ve been to darker places. For example - right after testing the game and translating these patch notes.
  • Monitors at locations "d106 " and "Gralem Hall" displaying the wrong texture.
  • Monitors hanging in the air at the Military Base location.
  • Transparent walls for one of the rooms in the “d_p_Stop” location. Voyeurs, enjoy!
  • When loading the game from older save files some objects may appear in incorrect positions.

Gameplay

  • The door in the "Vulture's Nest" finale not opening.
  • The door leading to an alternative path does not open in the ‘d_p_base_battle’ location.
  • Impossible to go through the blue door in the game’s finale. Errr, it seems these doors hold a grudge against the devs.
  • Skill points displaying incorrectly when switching from one player companion to another.
  • There is no task associated with Tel in the quest log.
  • Player character gets stuck in falling beams at the casino during the "Dr. Glar's Package’ assignment.
  • Commissars notice the player at the "Committee Archive" location when the player character is already riding the elevator. I’m on BOAT! I’m on a...wait, wrong song.
  • A mini-boss at one of the randomly appearing locations gets stuck in the ceiling.
  • The somnia effect not disappearing after loading a save from the game over screen.
  • NPC Gost not following the player in the d_p_gang location.
  • Security bots appear under the ceiling at the "d_p_encounter" location. What's with the ceilings in this game? I thought they were missing, but the characters keep getting stuck in them.
  • Enemy NPCs do not save their state when the game is loaded from an auto save.
  • Fixing the generator at the location "d_p_escort” requires missing parts which may prevent players from advancing the plot.
  • The inevitable death of all player companions at location d_p_flood. Which mirrors life as we know it, don’t you think?
  • Quest log is not updated after selecting one of the dialogue options in the game’s finale.
  • Player character gets moved to the ‘d_p_lab’ location if loading from any save at the ‘d_p_dream’ location.

Characters

  • Redden’s character doesn’t move if initiating dialogue after completing the missions “Mill Fighter” and “At the Bottom”.
  • The character Darath mistakenly appears in Redden’s office. Hmmm, mistakenly? I smell love in the air!
  • The character Kazim does not appear in the location "Vulture's Nest" after a chance meeting.
  • Dialogue error for the character Kazim at the "Vulture's Nest" location.
  • Missing translated dialogue with the character Dart.

Items

  • The Smuggler’s Jacket has no description and translated text.
  • After completing the quest "Blue Screen", the quest item stays in the player’s inventory.
  • The effect of the Intel-M drug stays permanently even after expiration.
  • It is possible to get the ‘defaultweaponarm’ item from repair bots in the Prologue.
  • Dalok’s Backpack item missing associated attributes.
  • A few items missing prices.

UI

  • The maps for the locations ‘Urban perimeter’ and ‘Technical Tunnels’ not displaying in the Navigation menu.
  • Missing map of the location d_p_tunnels_typer (Urb Perimeter).
  • A notification for a new achievement is displayed after exiting the Achievements menu. Well done, you...left?
  • Dimming effect enabled on the game screen when loading a game from the menu.
  • Occasionally, the game’s resolution is displayed as .NONE in the option’s menu.
  • The font for certain NPC names is too small.
  • Language settings are not saved if you change them in-game.
  • There is no icon for interacting with the elevator in Typer's shelter in the Prologue.

Cutscenes

  • No video at the start of the game if the Prologue was skipped.
  • The final (end-game) video does not start for The Renegades.
  • Final cutscene missing if the player refuses to help Tanaber.
  • Missing video when the player character dies from somnia.
  • Typer occasionally missing in the first cutscene in the Prologue.
  • The player character not displaying correctly the last cutscene in the Prologue.

Sound

  • No sound playing in some of the end-game videos if certain criteria are met (somnia-related death, etc).
  • Sound still playing even the master volume level is set to zero.

Crashes and other important issues

  • Isolated freezes on a range of machines.
  • Game may freeze after changing the screen resolution.
  • It is not possible to continue the game upon earning the achievement "Sure, Captain".
  • Game occasionally crashes when the player dies at the ‘d_p_d106_facility’ location.
  • Fatal error in the Prologue led to crashes on some machines.
  • Infinite game loading from older save files at the location “H-27 \ 55”.
  • Crash on player exit from the ‘d_p_nest_sturm’ location.
  • Game crashes when playing for more than two hours and PC goes into hibernation mode. Wait...I wasn’t joking guys. Why are you laughing? Come back!
