Insurgence: Second Assault

Reworking the Prologue/Intro Scene

Hello, another update. 2 Weeks before the launch (yey!), we decide to reworking the Intro/Prologue scene.

First, I'd like to say thanks to player who participate in the beta testing (and also the curator/reviewers) and based on some input from you guys.

We decide to scrap the previous prologue and develop a new one, and this prologue hopefully will get player hooked to the story right away.

Here is, some sneak peak for the new prologue.

Well then, that's for now. See you in 20 February!

Adding Battle Cut Ins & Enemy Action Name

We just adding a new features for the game, It's Battle Cut In for spicing up the Battle.
And also based on some input from Reviewers and testers, many asking us to add something that tell players what skills is the enemy use.

So here is it.

Current Progress of the game.

Hello! Today we'd like to share our current progress for this project. We currently on the phase of polishing the game, reworking some of the game scene/events and so on.

First is the World Map overhaul.

We overhaul the world map system, now including names of the Area/Dungeon/City.

Second is the Event & Scene remake, We making a VN Style CG event. Instead of just character sprites talking to each other.

Here is an example.

The third is we currently working on Achievement, currently, there is 15 Achievement on the game, most of it is when you completing certain subquests, defeating the secret boss and of course beating the game.

As for gameplay time, considering you do all the subquest, you looking around 8-9 hours.

This is our gameplay time just before the final event and after do all the quest and stuff.

I think that's for now, see you again on our next development blog!

Q&A and What can you expect from this game?

Hello, Riza here. Owner of Platonic Game Studio itself. This time I'll try to answer some of the questions we've got regarding our upcoming game, Insurgence - Second Assault.

So, let's begin.

First and foremost, our previous game was heavily criticize for bad grammar or bad English in general. This time we hire professional translator, not again relying on Online Translator with Grammarly and some friends.

We can say the writing will be much improved from our previous game, and we hope more people can enjoy it.

Second, is the game pace. We learn from our previous mistakes, our map just too long and many players getting bored because of it.

Now we design the map like this, so if you are the type of player who plays just for the story-line or plot. You can just go straight, but if you are the kind who likes exploring, you can, and of course, we reward those who explore the dungeon with extra weapons, armor or skill-sets.

The third is, Gameplay time obviously will be shorter, due to shorter dungeon in general, If you just play the game without touching any subquest you may complete the game within 3-5 hours. But if you try to do all the subquest, exploring all the dungeons and extra ones, completing the achievement. You are looking at 7-8 hours of gameplay. It all depends on the player.

Fourth is the battle, we really improving the battle mechanic for this game, unlike our previous game, when you reach certain level you can just mash the A or Enter button to win the battle, Insurgence - Second Assault will require the player to strategize how to defeat the enemies since each enemy has its weakness, so you have to exploit their weakness by attacking them by magic or physical attack.

Of course, you can change your equipment and skillsets during the battle, so if your weapons of choice or skillsets are not effective you can switch it and try again. Speaking Battle, based on feedback on our previous game, now monster will drop Gold/Money while also dropping Material or ingredients for in-game crafting, smithing, alchemy, and cooking features.

Speaking of extra features like Cooking, Alchemy and weapon crafting. You can gather the ingredients or material by defeating enemies. While the crafting feature still a very basic one, we hope it can spice up the fun factor of the game.

Well, Last but not least is the price. Of course, Insurgence - Second Assault will be a bit more expensive than our last title. But don't worry not by much, not even twice the price. But due to the Valve/Steam agreement and also publisher agreement we can't share or uncover the price right now.

The reason for a slight price increase from our previous game is the music, we license Ken Nakagawa, the composer of Ar Tonelico and Atelier series, and we also hire Shido from Japan for the music and licensing some music from YouFulca who is also known as Wingless Seraph.

We try to deliver the best experience for the player, so we try to level up the quality of the music, and of course, it's cost extra money and we hope it will be justifiable.

We also hire a professional translator for this game and translating and RPG game doesn't come cheap since we are talking tens of thousands of words that need to be translated.

I think that's it for now.

Wish us luck! and See you on 20 February!

We Manage to get the Steam Achievement work!

Many of you requested this feature before. Especially on our first game. But as some of you may know RPG Maker Engine, While it's "easy" for making a game, actually it's harder for making some of the steam features works with it.

Even on the default setting, you can't open steam overlay, and required special code for that, that's also the case for Steam Achievement.

Back then We decide to give up the achievement feature due to complexity for connecting the nwjs to Steam API (at least with our level knowledge, of course as a studio who most of the people are an artist, not a programmer is hard for us). We even asking fellow programmers from another studio for helping us back then, but again it's just too complex and we decide it not adding achievement features back then.

(we tested the achievement features and it works!)

And when we publishing our steam page back then, many people again, asking the achievement feature, but at that time we just say "sorry, we can't add that".

But as our skills slowly increasing in the past year, we decide to try it again, and bam! now it works.

So yeah, we will be adding achievement on this game, as many people request this feature, we understand many people believe achievement on the game is very important.

All right then, That's the update for now. See you on 20 February!

After Hiatus for 3 Months and we decide to Rewriting the script, and the script just finish editorial process.

And also we'd like to address the critique from our previous game where the English is bad. So this time Our team hire Translator for translating the game to English from Bahasa Indonesia.

We also improving Area and Pacing, Where our last demo was criticize for the Area Map was too large and making the game pacing is slow.

Now we re adjust the map where "Per Area" has only one or two main maps. While we have adding extra map for those who wants to explore it.
